Cristil clear on Tuesday night

Last night in Tupelo, MSU’s legendary “Voice of the Bulldogs” was roasted in Tupelo. Twelve different people shared stories and laughs about Jack Cristil, and while I wasn’t there, Buster Wolfe came out of the bullpen and completed the game in impressive style. Thanks, Mr. Outdoors.

His story offers some insight on the entertaining night that it was. Also, here’s my Wednesday MSU notebook.

Gregg, how about asking LT sometime about a possible honorary statue or something for Jack, even though that probably wouldn’t fall under him. I think everyone would agree something should be done while Jack is still our announcer.
Maybe that will be something he can actually give you an answer to, unlike the 2008 schedule.

I just read the write-up on MSU getting the collegesportsreport.com Team of the Week award. It’s about time somebody outside of Mississippi gave us some freakin’ credit!

dont you think if they did a fund raiser in the junction before the ole miss game…it would net a good penny toward a nice statue for cristil. i bet even some rebels would donate.

Sounds like a good idea TM&White, we need to honor him while he’s alive too

I had the privilege of attending the roast last night. It was truly a chance of a lifetime to hear all those coaches speak. The “Voice of the Rebels” did a great job and was thrilled to find a few rebels in attendance. I’m sure he loved when Sherrill kept referring to Ole Miss as “those people” and said if you wanted to see Jack mad, lose a game to “those people”

joekstewart: sign up for Maroon to the Max and you can hear Jack just like he is on the radio.

Jack’s voice touches me in many ways. Living in southwest Texas I rarely get to go home much less visit MSU so listening to him now gives me just a taste of back home. Been listening to Jack for over probably 35 years now and it really is cool that my boys listen to him now.

Jack is indeed an institution at MSU and deserves the highest honor we can give him. The statue with Bully (real dog version)is cool. What about naming the press box after him. If it already has a name perhaps co-name.

Anybody know if the roast was taped?

Texdawg, they are selling DVDs of the roast but I’m not sure how many are left. This is the info:

They are $12.00 plus $3.00 shipping for a total of $15.00.
Talk to Lindsey at (662) 844-0013.

If you don’t get one I’m sure they will be on youtube eventually.

I believe a statue is due, Cristil is a MSU legend and deserves being honored forever. The statue should go infront of the Seal Building or in the Junction.

As far as the DVD goes that is great. I just wish I had the two super regional games on DVD as well. I was at both games and would love to relive that atmosphere.
