LSU vs. OSU . . . has the BCS lost its mind

By Brad Locke

OK. The national championship game is now set. LSU and Ohio State.

Again, bring on the playoffs. Do you guys agree with the matchup or do you think other teams are deserving?

I’ll also say I’m intrigued with the Georgia-Hawaii Sugar Bowl matchup. Very intriguing.

Oh, I almost forgot. On Dec. 29, MSU has a home basketball game against Missouri that is scheduled to be televised by Fox Sports South. However, Larry Templeton told me it will be a top priority to see if he can either get the date of the game changed or have it relocated to Memphis. If it weren’t on TV, it wouldn’t be a problem. Dang those TV folk.

I say at least 25 OSU fans get the crap beat out of them by drunk cajuns. They have no idea what they are in for! Poor Chokeeyes:(

Hawaii just turned the Sugar Bowl sour. If not for a last minute rally, they would have gone down to a 4-7 UW last night. I really hope Georgia punishes them to thwart any attempts to throw these little teams in with the big boys. Who cares if Boise State accidentally knocked off OU last year? There is no way that the Sugar Bowl can leave Missouri, a team that was ranked #1 24 hrs ago out of the BCS. How did 8-3 Illinois get into the Rose? This all started with an overrated Kansas team that is playing the Orange. Mizzou has a legitimate gripe because they beat Illinois and KU. They would pummel Hawaii. If they wanted to throw Hawaii in the BCS mix, why not the Rose Bowl? They might be able to get 600-800 fans to the mainland then. The Sugar Bowl has always been one of my favorite bowls for obvious SEC reasons, but Hawaii??????

  3. maroondog Says:

Yeah Hawaii should have been in the Rose Bowl and Mizzou should have got in over Kansas. I can’ t believe only one PAC-10 school got in; voters usually push those guys in. I also can’t beleive that people are already picking Ohio State over LSU. These EPSN guys sure do have short memories. This years Ohio State team is not even as good as last year. The Big Ten has to be the most overrated conference. I think it is harder to make it through the WAC and Big East than the Big Ten right now. Right now my biggest question is which game will have the biggest blowout win – LSU-Ohio State or Florida-Michigan?

  4. imabulldog Says:

Im glad the Zookers got in to the rosebowl, better than the typical Michigan and USC game, they deserved it. Im sure UGA will welcome Hawaii to the real United States not so politely. I think Kansas and VT has the makings of a great game, and WVU and OK should be interesting.
Also glad that LSU is back in the picture, just so we can remind the Buckeyes once again, who the ‘forever’ reigning conference in the country is, “come back when you’ve played a conference championship yankees!”

  5. warbirdz44 Says:

I honestly hope Georgia and LSU both lose. As much as I love the SEC, the smugness and the “i’m better than you” attitude of alot of SEC fans kills me. Most of them feel that no team from outside the SEC is worthy of playing on the same field as an SEC team. I think it’d be hilarious if both SEC teams lost in the BCS.

  6. maroondog Says:

That smugness comes from the fact that NOBODY plays a tougher conference schedule than the SEC. It is not that I believe that every SEC team cannot get beat in one game by a team from another conference, it is that I believe you can take an Ohio State, put them in the SEC, and they probably would finish with at least 4 losses every year if they even had a winning record.

  7. 2thdoc Says:

Kansas was rewarded for being able to sit at home without having to play…just like Ohio State. Georgia was correctly not awarded a title game in my opinion but Missouri has a beef although they did lay an egg vs Oklahoma.

Maybe the bowls were looking to cash in on Mangino’s hotel food tab in case their ticket profits fall short.

  8. imabulldog Says:

I agree maroondog. Warbirdz44, I used to be just like you, but you know what I realized, we all give eachother a lil bit of crap, I know I yelled out Roll Tide, and Hotty Toddy after we beat those guys, so a lil Tiger Bait and U-G-A does not bother me.
And like maroondog said, that arrogance if any comes from our mindset, whether you are us, Ole Missy, Bama, or Vandy-we feel like the best because we are, we play the toughest schedule, not to mention a conference championship.
The last thing we need is a Big10 team saying our best beat your best

  9. jaybirdms Says:

OSU vs LSU is probably about the best that could be done. You could probably make as much of a case for Oklahoma to be in the title game.

Missouri should have gotten in over Kansas, since they beat Kansas last week.

We need a playoff. You could still use a BCS-type rating to get the top 8 or 16 teams, and let them battle it out on the field. Even throw in a few automatic bids for conference champs. That’s what they do during march madness.

  10. thingreenline Says:

I hope MSU has good sections saved for Bulldog Club members. I’d hate to see that my measly priority rank gets me a worse seat than if I’d waited until next week or went through the Liberty Bowl site.

Gregg, besides the running back, what strengths does UCF have?

  11. leeearl Says:

Most of the opinions above would pretty much be the same opinions as me with the exception of warbirdz. Even the ESPN analyst flat out say this year SEC is by far the best conference which I agree:

-Wow! I’m completely biased of the weak Big (Small 11) 10 so, I won’t go any further on
the championship game, but I hope LSU beats the living crap out of the Buckeyes.
    -Missouri is the biggest snub.
    -Bama got the crap bowl.
    -Florida will spank Michigan.
-Georgia might be a good game with the Warriors IMO if their secondary doesn’t show up, but I doubt it…
-I’m hoping Central Florida does not have a passing game so we can key on Smith and
not have another Arky game where we keyed on McFadden and let Dick beat us

    Go SEC and Go Dogs!!!

  12. theconquistador Says:

There really isn’t one BCS game that intrigues me. Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl? Kansas gets in but not Missouri? OSU and LSU deserve to be in the title game, as does the other 6 BCS teams. This year is a prime example as why we need some sort of a playoff. Why can’t it be done at this level? Every other level of football has a playoff.

  13. carwwest Says:

leeearl, i dont claim to know a lot about UCF but from the stuff i have looked up they have a decent passing game but their QB is no superstar….i do know that they set the record for rush attempts this year though so i think it will kind of be a mixture of our alabama and arkansas games this year….we dont need to let kevin smith run wild but if we rattle their QB i think he will turn it over…go DAWGS!!

  14. leeearl Says:

    carwwest,

Cool, I haven’t had a chance to research anything on them yet, I could just let Croom do that and just watch the game I guess : )
I would love to come in there and dominate like the KY game….

  15. roastbeef1 Says:

I think the Georgia/Hawaii game will be great. I think Missouri got snubbed big time. Sure they had 2 losses and Kansas had 1, but KU never played OU and Missouri did beat Kansas. I’m fine with the championship game eventhough I think Ohio State is overrated and I expect LSU to beat them by 14. I also can’t wait to see Oklahoma and West Virginia. That game should be the best BCS bowl.

The main game that I’m excited about seeing is Missouri vs. Arkansas. I think that is going to be a great shootout.

  16. tupelopixdotcom Says:

Who’s gonna be left to coach Arkansas?

  17. imabulldog Says:

Exactly, they are idiots for running Nutt off, I know they offered him $ to stay, but im sure it was just to appear appreciative-to the fans who like him. The big whigs there will regret it, especially when they try and recruit this spring
