On how many players will MSU take to Memphis
“We’ll take 108, 110 but we’ll probably won’t dress but 80 guys on game day. We’ll take them all to the game. Our intention is take all our 105, plus some guys that have been here a while and have made a significant contribution to what wer’re doing. Even though they won’t dress for the game, they’ll get the benefits, and we’ll have seats for them somewhere.”
On his team having fun in Memphis
“These experiences, you don’t get this experience but once in a lifetime. Playing in blowl games and championships aren’t to be taken for granted because you might not get that shot again. It’s an experience I want them to forever remember. But I’ve made it clear, if anyone breaks any rules, they’re coming home. They will not play in this ballgame. If they are not smart about what they do, they will not get a chance to stay and enjoy the trip.
When the players will arrive in Memphis
“They’ll report to Memphis on the 23rd. We’ll start back practice on Monday and be back our in regular week routine. I know people start mentioning that’s it’s Christmas. Anybody that rather stay home for christmas can stay home for christmas. It’s just that simple. I’ll tell the team if they don’t want to practice on Christmas, they can stay at home. I have no problem with that. But those that want to go and play in a bowl game and have a good time, that’s what we’re going to do. I expect us to be playing somewhere every Christmas.”

Bet he ends up sending a handful home before the game. What you guys think? No one important though.

I was a little curious at how Coach Croom would work the practice schedule. He mentioned that unlike Bear Bryant we were going to have a good time and enjoy the moment…have fun. He said that with Coach Bryant it was training camp all over once bowl season started and there were no smiles come bowl time. It seems though that he is still pretty serious about performing well in the game and taking advantage of the practice time. Looking forward to see how the guys play after the time off against a great offense.

i think there might be a couple sent home but i think croom will have thier minds right because this game means a lot…its about more than just the players…..if we win, more respect, more boosters, more recruits…this game needs to be another steeping stone into next season….i did kind of like his comment about he “expects” to play somewhere every christmas….go DAWGS!!

I was amused at CC when asked about CF running back, he replied that we have one that is pretty good too, and he will be ready come bowl day…

Got my tickets too. Cant wait! Farley and Chris I’m down to tailgate somewhere also. If we work it out My dad and I are going so we will bring whatever and do it up big. I know I went to the MSU, memphis game a couple of years ago and my dad and I parked in the Liberty land parking lot. It was a huge parking lot and that should be a pretty good spot. Just a suggestion!

Works for me! Don’t laugh at me guys, but I can make a pretty mean football shaped cake or stadium cake. I’m all for everyone doing the dang thang right!

Man, I love our coach. I am looking forward to many bowl games as is he. You can’t say enough about the job he has done. And to think, he could have easily cashed it in with the way things were looking the last couple of seasons. I’m just glad he took the time to build the base and do it right. We will all be better served by his patience and not doing whatever it took to win when it would not have helped us in the long run.
Go DAWGS!!!

UCF running back goes for 200 plus easy
December 3, 2007 at 5:01 pm |
We held the nation’s leading , who plays at Tulane, the same conference as UCF, to 47 yards, his fewest of the season. We also held McFadden to 88 yards. While Kevin Smith does scare me (if you’re going to talk smack you could at least learn his name) I don’t foresee him getting 200 of all. Especially if we can get an early lead on their mediocre defense (they give up about 28 a game) they will be forced to pass more.

Wow, I’m not typing well at all today, meant to say “nation’s second leading rusher” in that first sentence.

Green Ellis wiil go for 0, easy…

Well played d-dawg, well played!

That’s our strength, stopping the run…if they were pass happy, I would be concerned.

I actually think playing this guy is going to help our defense get pumped for the game. I know it is a bowl game and Croom should have them ready, but look at this. Smith is 180 yards behind Barry Sanders for the single season rushing record. It will be a matter of pride for our defense to stuff this guy and with Croom’s connections to Sanders, I’m sure he wants to stuff Smith as well. I know overall the goal is a win, but you also know that this team wants to make sure Smith does not get this record.

I guess coaching staff will be looking at a lot of game film – I thought they would be doing more pratices. But I guess they have finals also to handle.
GREGG – is there some rule on how long you can pratice for a bowl?
UFC – welcome to the SEC…hope your guys in the trenches can handle it, up close and personal. Like to see our Dawgs shut down Smith. Ans when their QB ask “did anyone get the number of that truck that hit me – yea it was #54″.
