Mississippi State announced earlier today there are no more tickets available for the Liberty Bowl. In all, more than 30,938 have been sold.
“We appreciate the outstanding statement that the Bulldog Family has made, not only to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, but to the entire bowl community,” athletics director Larry Templeton said. “The enthusiasm of our fans played a large role in the way our team was able to finish the regular season and we now look forward to coloring the city of Memphis maroon on Dec. 29.”

I read that as of yesterday Memphis Tigers Ticket Office had sold 800 tickets for the Memphis vs Florida Atlantic bowl game(New Orleans Bowl). Not 8000 but 800. I guess a great basketball team makes you forget the football season pretty quickly.

Off topic, but the classlessness of Ole Miss has already rubbed off on Houston Nutt. When Tebow was announced as the Heisman winner, he stood there with his hands on his hips and didn’t clap for him. I realize he’s pissed that his guy didn’t win but show a little class and give him a courtesy clap.

No respect from ESPN…Mark May and the other guy seem to think that UCF will have their way with us. Only Jessie Palmer picked us to win and he’s not that confident with his pick. I believe he made his pick based off of flashbacks of Golliday, Blade, and company chasing him around Scott field in 2000.
December 8, 2007 at 9:36 pm |
Mark May is a prick! He never gives us any respect. He jumped on the “First black coach in the SEC” bandwagon after we beat Bama. I hate him!
December 8, 2007 at 9:38 pm |
I agree, I think we should send CC a copy of May’s statement to give to the team for the bowl game.
December 8, 2007 at 9:40 pm |
What exactly did he say? I missed it.
December 8, 2007 at 9:46 pm |
They are both so enamored over the Kevin Smith show that they forget we have beaten teams with twice the talent as UCF. At least Palmer has a little sense!
December 8, 2007 at 9:54 pm |
I haven’t seen Kevin Smith play this year, but I have seen McFadden play in person…save 1 play, we virtually shut McFadden down and this guy ain’t no McFadden, Onward to Maroonphis!

From their board, they seem to be a group of arse’s. Gonna end up in a fight the first little Effer that says something to me or my wife!
December 8, 2007 at 10:39 pm |
1.First off, screw ESPN and Sports Illustrated, never have given us props, kick us when we are down, turn their heads away when we are doing well.
2.Mark May and a “NOVICANE” mouthed Lou Holtz-who cares what you have to say!!! They are both living off of memories that are long gone for their football programs. Jesse Palmer stunk in college and needs to do another Bachelore show.’
3. On the memphis commment, im getting my master’s there, the students could care less. They have no clue what its like to be a true fan. They play basketball 15 minutes from their school, football almost 10 minutes away, students don’t even wear shirts supporting their athletics, most students can’t even tell me who they are playing this or that weekend, and don’t go to the games.
*Im so proud of State and our fanbase, and all the SEC schools, for “bleeding” our school’s colors, and for supporting our schools. People would be shocked if they saw how dead the mood is towards athletics at memphis.
Sorry to ramble, Go Dawgs!
December 8, 2007 at 10:43 pm |
I hope they are shell-shocked and dumbfounded, because the can’t run the ball on us
December 8, 2007 at 11:55 pm |
Did you guys notice that Nutt never clapped for Tebow? Just watched the replay and he looks peeved. I understand being upset about your guy not winning, but show some class for the award at least.
December 9, 2007 at 6:08 am |
Yeah, farely, read post 2 of this thread!
December 9, 2007 at 8:25 am |
Farley, you may want to go to Walgreens and have your blood pressure checked. Whew! You’ve been on a tear this week.
December 9, 2007 at 11:32 am |
Sorry warbirdz! Acting like Gregg Ellis with not fact checking and stuff!
Having a pregnant wife will do that to a fella. Do this! Do that! Rub my feet! Go get me Shipley’s donuts! I WANT chocolate! You did this to me you (insert bad word here)!
December 9, 2007 at 1:37 pm |
FARLEY – Is this your first?
Hang in there with the wife – be thankful it is something simple as easy to find as Shipley’s donuts – and something that can be easily found 24/7.
Try explaining this one: I’m sorry baby but there are no movie theaters open where I can go get “butter popcorn” this time during the day or early morning hours.
Have you had to fix something she wants that ends up making her sick – for which you get the blame for that to?
December 9, 2007 at 1:43 pm |
Our first. She has been pretty good so far. Only has gotten upset a couple of times. She wanted Olive Garden last night so we went to Tupelo. She took one bite out of her meal and she got sick! Threw down about $50 for a meal she didn’t eat. And I don’t like Italian food at all. That’s the only instance of something like that happening. I have gotten yelled at for not having the Christmas tree lights turned on when she has gotten home from work.
December 9, 2007 at 9:05 pm |
farley, not to scare you or anything but the devil horns won’t really start growing on your wife until about the 6 month pregnant period. At 8 months lock yourself in the car to sleep for your protection. And at 9 months just weather the storm and don’t look at another female closer than 20 yards.
December 9, 2007 at 9:14 pm |
Thanks for the advice guys, I think.
December 9, 2007 at 9:34 pm |
And never, never tell her she looks fat.
December 9, 2007 at 9:54 pm |
farley, the puking part of it should be ending soon. my wife is about 5 months along now, and for about the first 3, she was sick all the time. One night she got the hankering for some Mexican food so we went to El Sombrero, it was a pleasant eveing so we decided to sit out on the big deck. We got our food a little later, she got about half of it down, and she then proceeded to hang here head between the railings of the deck and regurgatate EVERYTHING into the parking lot.
Hope it ends for you soon bud.
And by the way, we found out last week we’re having a BOY, OH YEAH!
I’ve been meaning to tell you guys but forgot. His name is going to be James Connor (calling him Connor).
Good luck the rest of the way man, and remember, even though we may be bitter rivals on the courts and fields, we’re still in this whole pregnant wife thing together.
December 9, 2007 at 10:03 pm |
Connor, like it. Omar would be honored to have your child named after him!
December 9, 2007 at 10:40 pm |
Congrats oxfordrebel. Joking aside, kids are awesome and you and farley are going to have a blast after the rough times at first. Enjoy every minute because it is so true about them growing up before you know it.

Omar Connor…hmmm….never heard of him

thx 2thdoc, i’m really excited about it. My wife and I moved to oxford after she graduated nursing school in AL with hopes that I could get into pharmacy school after a year or two of other prepharm classes, but once we found out we were gonna have a baby, our plans have since taken a complete turnaround. i’ve been taking classes for a year, but it looks like my education is going to be put on hold right now. I know that pharmacy school is definetly out of the picture b/c I don’t wanna be in the books for 7 years and missing everything that is happening in my son’s life b/c daddy is to busy studying. It’s great for people that can balance that, but I just wanna be a dad that is devoted to my wife and son, and if that means I have to work in a factory for several years, so be it.
Anyways, looks like we’re gonna be in oxford till our lease is up and then we’re looking into moving to the Belmont area. We’re gonna finally try to buy a house and settle down in a permenant location and start a real family life for our son’s sake. It’s been really easy just floating from apartment to apartment, moving here and moving there when it’s just been me and my wife, but I feel I have an obligation to Connor to provide him with something permanent and real.
It’s gonna be hard I think, but I also think it will all be worth it to give my son a nice home and a nice place to grow up and make his own memories. It’s really just been about me and my wife up till this point, and what we can accomplish. I don’t know how to explain it, but now that I know that there is an actual baby on the way, I don’t really care if I do have to work extra hard the rest of my life, just so long as my children are genuinely happy.
December 9, 2007 at 11:29 pm |
oxfordrebel, You’ve got an awesome attitude about it. Knowing up front what’s important to you is going to keep you from spinning the wheels with nothing to show for it.
We had one guy in dental school that after being a pharmacist for 8 years went to dental school for 3 years before realizing it wasn’t for him. He figured out he was missing out on his life and just needed to spend more time at home with his family. He was in his mid 40’s, starting over in his career with kids and a wife he didn’t really know anymore from all the time apart.

good luck new dads to be. My daughter just turned two. PS get all the sleep you can NOW!!!
December 10, 2007 at 10:09 am |
For the new Dads, I would always throw my hat in the door first, If it came out, followed by comments, I remembered something I had to do and left for a while.
It took 3 for me to figger out what caused the wifes swelling for 9 months before I solved the problem. Went and bought twin beds.
Now that they are teenagers, ALL girls, I throw my hat in EVERY day when I get home.

My wife yakked macaroni and cheese on a bush one time when she was pregnant. Looked like we payed to have it decorated. She didn’t think it was funny.

True Story! When we played UGA in 2005, my wife was pregnant. Nonetheless she doesn’t like missing home games. Third quarter (we are still playing a competetive game), she gets up to go to the restroom. about 7-8 minutes later I think I hear my name over the PA speaker. I looked at my dad and he didn’t hear anything (as usual). This time I heard it, followed by “report to the ambulance center, south endzone.” Get there and my wife is ready to go. We go all the way to OCH only to discover it’s false labor. Dogs lose and I’m out $300.
