Strange, I know.
But according to first-year Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt, Mississippi State has hired Louis Campbell as its linebacker coach.
Campbell has been at Arkansas since 1990 as both as a secondary coach and as an administrator. Nutt had hoped Campbell would join him in Oxford.
“Louis has strong ties with Sylvester Croom and Rockey Felker,” Nutt said. “They stole a good one.”
As for the defensive coordinator position, MSU is expected to promote from within. An announcement is expected as early as Thursday. Ellis Johnson, who was both the linebacker coach and defensive coordinator, left for Arkansas.
As for the MSU job, this is what Campbell had to say: “Coaching linebackers will be doing something different from what I’ve ever done. I thought if I was going to leave here, I want to do something different.”
For more on Campbell, check out his bio.

Would we hire the DC from within b/c that person is best for the job, or b/c nobody else is truely interested? Just a question.

It’s who Sly thinks is best for the job. Believe me, outside interest was there. And Shane, Ellis Johnson was also the linebacker coach at MSU.

Okay, I know it has been a while since I’ve been on here–we had vacation in vegas for 10 days then were in memphis then left for atlanta since we had some unsold tickets for the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
At the Liberty Bowl I could not believe the method of madness to get into the stadium at the beginning of the game. We left the tailgate party buffet at 4:15, didn’t get into the game until 10 minutes left on the clock for the first quarter and almost got into a fight with some MSU teenage girl who started cursing at me and yelling that she was 17 and that I should hit her. I couldn’t believe that she was so angry on her way to see state play! Anyway that was the worst fan that I ran into, not UCF…But, it was wall to wall people that were just STUCK, I couldn’t believe that they didn’t direct people to the right gates to go into so there weren’t fights breaking out.
Secondly, as a former softball player–I’ve had this dislike for Auburn…However, after going to the Chick-fil-A bowl, I really don’t mind them. We wore our state jerseys, just because we wished MSU was at the game, but there were dozens of Auburn fans who were very excited for the MSU football program. I can’t count how many times I heard, “Go bulldogs” or “Go State”. They all were very friendly and fun to talk with, we even ended up selling our club level seats to some of them before the game started. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait for the Bulldogs to make it to Atlanta, which some of the auburn fans were convinced would happen very soon for the SEC championship with Croom (I’m not sure if they realize that means that they won’t be there).
January 2, 2008 at 8:45 pm |
Croom is promoting Harbison to DC because he believes he can do the job and he doesn’t want to change the defense. A new defensive coach would want to bring his own schemes, etc. and maybe even personnel. CH knows the defense and actually will probably take a few more risks because he has an aggressive personality.
Rockey swears by Campbell that he is a good one. Sounds like Nutt agrees.
January 2, 2008 at 8:47 pm |
Well, good luck Coach Harbison. We are all behind you!
January 2, 2008 at 8:53 pm |
By the way, Campbell is a good recruiter and his strengths lie in the Memphis and east Arkansas areas. Places where we have never done well in recruiting.
January 2, 2008 at 8:55 pm |
Our Defensive coaches would be Melvin Smith, David Turner, Charlie Harbison, and this new Cambell guy. I could see Smith, Harbison, and Cambell doing a good job as DC. I know a lot of people are upset with us loosing Johnson. However, I had more complaints about him midway through the season than I did Woody. Even though we contained Kevin Smith, I still worry that we never had the ability to stop the run (ranked 10th in the SEC against the rush). I totally blamed losses against West Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas on bad preparation defensively. We do a great job on 3rd down with less than 7 yards to go. 3rd and long made me nervous all year, because I knew Ellis 9 times out of 10 would rush only 3 and drop back 8 so the quarterback had all day to pick us apart. If Pegues isn’t in the right place on the 4th down to seal the Liberty Bowl, UCF easily completes the pass and really puts some pressure on us. We had the worse 3rd and long percentage in the conference. That’s unacceptable and why I think we’ll be improved defensively with a less conservative DC. I think our players really made Ellis look good. They made a lot of plays even with bad coverages being called. Better coaching will make them look great. Expect Arkansas to look like they did in the Cotton Bowl defensively next year.
January 2, 2008 at 10:18 pm |
dawgbones, I can’t say that, but you certainly can.
January 2, 2008 at 10:24 pm |
Can you tell us what time the announcement for Harbison is? Cough, Umm I mean what time the unknown DC will be announced tomorrow?
January 2, 2008 at 10:33 pm |
There will be no press conference. Just a release sent out to the media.
January 2, 2008 at 10:56 pm |
Man, those Mountaineers are whipping some butt! Go Neers!
January 2, 2008 at 11:03 pm |
What happened to the Brick Haley conversation?? and are we better off with harbison…or are we taking a gamble?
January 2, 2008 at 11:18 pm |
I’m not gonna lie, Owen Schmitt made me tear up. That guy is the epitome of college football.
January 3, 2008 at 12:18 am |
My guess bcdog, is that Croom promoted Harbison from within (if this is actually what is going to happen), to prevent him from possibly leaving with Ellis. That and he did not want to change defensive systems too much. Also, any chance we will change offensive coaches. I know the offense is Croom’s, but it really kept us from being great this year and needs a makeover.
January 3, 2008 at 6:17 am |
dog25, I have to agree. With out a doubt Auburn has the classiest fans of the SEC. The only fans I had a problem with at the LB was those losers from Florida. What a bunch of idiots.
January 3, 2008 at 7:46 am |
Nutt used a nice choice of words: “They STOLE a good one.”
No, maybe he just wanted to go somewhere that you weren’t, Houston.
Or maybe he wanted to work for a man of character. (read: Croom)
Or maybe he wanted to go to a place where the fans love the team and don’t always think that a national championship is always right around the corner (read: deranged Ole Miss fans)
January 3, 2008 at 8:38 am |
[...] Gregg Ellis is reporting via Houston Nutt (of all people) that Louis Campbell has indeed been hired by Mississippi State to be the linebackers coach. Since Ellis Johnson was linebackers coach in addition to being defensive coordinator, this hiring confirms rumors that Croom will promote a current assistant to the DC position. This will likely be Charlie Harbison or Melvin Smith, with most guessing Harbison will get the nod in an attempt to keep him from going to Arkansas with Johnson. [...]

JAYBIRD YOURE AN ASSCLOWN
January 3, 2008 at 2:22 pm |
farley, bigdraws, anyone…… can you please translate what nate is trying to say. I am not familiar with the native tounge of monroe county teenager.
January 3, 2008 at 2:26 pm |
Roughly translates as “I’m quite an immature moron with nothing good to say so I think I’ll try to flame someone”
January 3, 2008 at 2:32 pm |
or he heard that over the holidays and just couldn’t wait to bust it out.
January 3, 2008 at 2:46 pm |
Assclown is a word typically used to describe Ole Miss Rebels. So, by Nate calling you that, he was basically trying to say, “Hey, jaybirdms, you’re cool. Come join our gang of assclowns. Then we can really show you why we’re called that.”
That’s why you can’t stay in a conversation too long with a Reb. They love to dish it out, but they can’t take an ounce back. Or, it eventually turns into a Manning pep rally.
January 3, 2008 at 2:50 pm |
Is that the same guy who used to have his call name in all caps? If so greenline is right. HE CAN’T TAKE A JOKE. By the way, where’s Farley?
January 3, 2008 at 2:59 pm |
As long as he is not accusing me of being gay……not that there is anything wrong with that. (My apologies to Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza)
However, there IS something wrong with being an Ole Miss fan, which I definitely am not.
January 3, 2008 at 3:31 pm |
I’ll never forget the time I saw Adam Sandler at the Tad Pad back in 1997. He was in between jokes, and some morons up front started the Hotty Toddy nonsense. Sandler looked straight into the crowd and said, “Oh my God, it sounds like a bunch of guys having sex with each other!”
Classic.
January 3, 2008 at 3:40 pm |
Wow! It’s gotten viscious here.
January 3, 2008 at 3:54 pm |
I was traveling for work all day. Had to go to Tupelo today. Having computer problems at work. It sucks!
January 3, 2008 at 4:13 pm |
Farley-
Did I miss the announcement?
What are ya’ll having…baby boy Farley or baby girl Farley?
January 3, 2008 at 4:32 pm |
They pushed the ultrasound back three weeks. I’m one unhappy fellar!
January 3, 2008 at 4:34 pm |
That wa awesome it is fun to get a rise out of you guys. Thanks
January 3, 2008 at 4:36 pm |
ARGH!!!! I know how frustrating that can be! When they do the ultrasound, the little one could be shy and you STILL may not know the gender of the baby!!!
January 3, 2008 at 4:42 pm |
I will poke sheisafarleys wife in the stomach! I’m finding out!
PS-Like her screen name I just made up?
January 3, 2008 at 5:29 pm |
farley, what is this work stuff you speak of. I thought you were a full time internet blogger with family time in between. Cut out that work stuff.
January 3, 2008 at 5:32 pm |
Usually I am. I only have to work about one day every three months. Today happened to be the day! And I missed name calling and fist fighting. Ya buncha jerks could have waited on me. Done run the boy off!
January 3, 2008 at 5:39 pm |
Farley-
I LOVE the name…maybe she should start blogging! We could have a PAR-TY!
Note to the wife…drink LOTS and LOTS of water before the sonogram! Trust me…it works!
January 3, 2008 at 5:44 pm |
Got names now too. Madelyn Grace for imafarleybabygirl. Aedan Padraig for imafarleybabyboy. Good Irish names. What you guys and girls think? Not changing em, but you can state your case.
January 3, 2008 at 5:46 pm |
Naw, Nate isn’t gone. He’s still lingering around waiting on the perfect comeback. Something even better than “assclown” this time….if you can believe it.
January 3, 2008 at 5:52 pm |
Great Names. Love the boy’s name. Aedan is WAY COOL! and if you wanted to do the double name thing Maddie Grace would be cute!
January 3, 2008 at 5:56 pm |
That’s what we are doing! I LOVE Aedan and the wife LOVES Padraig so we made a deal. If she got the name, I get to do the nursery in State stuff. I’m kind of a woman aren’t I?
January 3, 2008 at 6:05 pm |
I think it is great how you bargined that! We could not decorate for our first because we lived in an apartment, so I knew if we had a boy then look out! His room is the PERFECT shade of Maroon I have ever seen! Got Home Depot to mix it for me off a picture of my little girl in a cheerleader suit!!!
January 3, 2008 at 6:16 pm |
They have the team colors paints at Home Depot now. That’s where I’m going to get it.
January 3, 2008 at 6:25 pm |
See…that is how long it has been since I have been paint shopping! I even had a custom baby crib “bumper” made because I could not find one that was solid white. Everything I saw had some kind of print on it or blue. Turned out really cute, but he hardly slept in the crib!
January 3, 2008 at 6:31 pm |
Subject change here, but what does everyone think about Crooms name getting tossed around all over the airwaves for the HC job of the Baltimore Ravens? My take is that he isn’t interested in it, and it’s just good publicity for us….
January 3, 2008 at 6:40 pm |
I thought my nursery conversation was just fine thank you very much! Changing the dang subject! Who do you think you are? Draws, imabulldog, thingreenline, 2thdoc, dawgbones, or imagirlbulldog? The nerve of some people!
Good if it’s just publicity. Bad if it’s true. Who would we get? Woody?
January 3, 2008 at 7:01 pm |
My wife is due with boy #2 in February, so I guess I tired of the nursery talk rather quickly. In fact, I was being yelled at to come put up some curtain hangers as I was posting that.
We used maroon too, BTW
January 3, 2008 at 7:45 pm |
Love those names, farley. We did the double name with our baby girl. She’s Kathryn Elizabeth, and we call her Katie Beth. Hope the baby cooperates when you go for the ultrasound.
Gosh, I hope that Ravens talk is just talk. I agree with it being good publicity, though.
January 3, 2008 at 7:59 pm |
If baby don’t cooperate, you guys will see my head explode! Gonna talk about the doctor like I did Momma Smith! Where you been bulldoggirl? Have not seen as much of either of our lady dawgs here lately.
January 3, 2008 at 8:14 pm |
Ok, I got one. Who is everyone supporting in the presidential election?
January 3, 2008 at 8:24 pm |
Right now I agree with Chuck Norris…
January 3, 2008 at 8:25 pm |
Mike Huckabee, and farley, I thought you were taking a “break” till baseball season…
January 3, 2008 at 8:31 pm |
Been traveling over the holidays, farley. Got too much family. Started traveling on the Dec 23 and didn’t get back until New Year’s Day. Missed you guys, though.
January 3, 2008 at 8:33 pm |
John Edwards!
January 3, 2008 at 9:13 pm |
If a dem wins, i want it to be edwards
January 3, 2008 at 9:20 pm |
Joe Biden – by far the more intelligent of the other candidates and has the most foreign relations experience.
January 3, 2008 at 9:26 pm |
Well I will vote for any Dem that runs, but I would rather Barack or John be the nominee.
January 3, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
That was from you Rebels. Obama for me. Only one who looks presidential to me. Plus, I like the man.
January 3, 2008 at 9:43 pm |
Thompson is my man or Huckabee is my second. Honestly, Obama and Hillary scare the bejeesees out of me
January 3, 2008 at 9:51 pm |
I can’t, in good conscience, vote for a Republican again this time. If I have to, I’ll vote for Billary.
January 3, 2008 at 9:54 pm |
I guess we are even then, because my conscience wouldn’t let me vote democrat. differences make the world go round
January 3, 2008 at 9:54 pm |
Obama will get hurt down the road when he is urged to be more specific on his ideas. Hillary will have to stick with one side on certain topics and stop flip-flopping so much. She’s starting to look like John Kerry in that regard.
If a Republican gets it, I hope it’s McCain. But, like I’ve said before, the media drives the way the general public views these elections. They’ve made it a Huckabee/Romney and Obama/Hillary race on both sides. Totally unequal exposure for other legitimate candidates. It makes me sick, but I’m just happy Monkey-boy Bush is almost oughta there!
January 3, 2008 at 9:56 pm |
I would vote for Hillary over most of the other candidates just to have Bill back in the White House.
January 3, 2008 at 9:57 pm |
I have a real problem voting for anyone that runs on a democratic ticket. That used to be the Southern man’s party, but now it’s nothing more than a liberal platform. I guess it all depends on what you’re voting for. Myself, I am more concerned with the morals and ethics than I am about issues of policy and government. Any qualified person can learn the rules and policies of various national and international affairs, but the real test of presidency comes in the form of trusts and integrety. What good is it to have the most qualified candidate in office if you can’t trust him (or God forbid, her).
Farley, I wouldn’t expect anything else from you, just very appreciative that you’re not pulling for Bill…er…Hillary.
January 3, 2008 at 9:57 pm |
And apparently, I spoke to soon…
January 3, 2008 at 10:00 pm |
Morals, ethics, trust……….I know you’re not a Bush supporter then, right?
January 3, 2008 at 10:01 pm |
I agree with oxfordrebel (very unusual for me to agree with a rebel) about morals and ethics. However I also come from a different perspective on the war. I have been to a muslim country and seen the osama t-shirts and t-shirts of the towers coming down. I want a President who has the guts to take the fight to them because I don’t want it in my backyard. Do I agree with everything Bush has done? No, but I believe he was the right man for the job at the time.
January 3, 2008 at 10:07 pm |
Must agree with the thingreen one on that one. Bush is nowhere near the morals and ethics candidate. I’d rather have a moody Hillary than a lying Bush any day. That almost sounds dirty! LOL!
January 3, 2008 at 10:07 pm |
People make mistakes TGL, I for one have supported the war from day 1 and continue to do so, I think that Pres. Bush did what he thought was best with the information that he had. I’m not saying that the person has to be squeaky clean b/c to find that person is impossible but I don’t won’t a person in office that is going to openly support some terrible ethical policies that this nation has and is continuing to implement. I am one of the few people that support Bush on MOST of his policies, not all (immigration for one). I know with Bush, I got some very conservative judges into the Supreme Court, he tried to get same-sex marriage banned, and he had the guts to actually pull the trigger on Iraq.
Yeah, I’m in that rare 25% support statistic you see on the news
January 3, 2008 at 10:07 pm |
I just can’t trust a person with authority when he tries to fill important positions with his friends/associates, even though his own party knows they are totally unqualified.
If you judge his presidency on whether or not the country is in better shape since he took office………..I don’t think it’s hard to figure out that answer.
January 3, 2008 at 10:08 pm |
msu4me, sports is so insignificant when compared to the real matters that shape our lives. I’m glad to not be the only conservative on here.
January 3, 2008 at 10:10 pm |
There are a TON of conservatives on here OR. Remember the little back and forth Tom and 2thdoc and I had about religion? We are he minority. Just us liberals have more time to get are blog on!
January 3, 2008 at 10:10 pm |
the, not he
January 3, 2008 at 10:14 pm |
Like I said TGL, not looking for squeaky clean, if trying to get some associates in certain positions is all he’s done, then he’s doing pretty dang good. At least he hasn’t openly, blattently lied to the country like a certain Clinton has done. Remember the whole, ” I didn’t have sex with that woman…” thing? If you can’t have trusts a president with his private life, then I don’t think you can trust him at all in his political life either.
January 3, 2008 at 10:15 pm |
I’ll give you this farley, you should feel at home politically in Oxford
January 3, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
darn you farley, I thought we all agreed to make this a sports only blog!!!
January 3, 2008 at 10:18 pm |
Sports vs a Democratic Candidate…I’ll take sprorts for 4 years if Hillary get in. I just threw up a little just thinking about her getting elected…just me and no hard feelings towards you guys and gals.
January 3, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
Where in the heck are they OR? Everyone I know, except for the drama people, who are all gay, not that there is anything wrong with that, is a Bush supporting drone. Mostly cause Hunter Willingham II told Hunter Willingham III to vote that way. Where are these sensible Rebels you speak of?
And by the way, Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
January 3, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
2thdoc, lol and amen
January 3, 2008 at 10:21 pm |
It’s frickin basketball season. I had to do something to give the folks something to talk about! As crappy as “our” team is this year. Hillary in a bikini sounds better to me than basketball!
January 3, 2008 at 10:22 pm |
Well, there is his whole National Guard fiasco, wire tapping, and Mission Accomplished joke.
And I think it’s a pretty big deal when someone tries to put unqualified people in high positions. It’s not like we’re talking about who’s gonna plan next year’s prom.
January 3, 2008 at 10:23 pm |
You should’ve gone to class with me a few times this past semester farley, I couldn’t get away from them. Guess you need to go recruit some liberals on campus when school starts back. This town makes me sick, I’m so happy to be moving in a few months.
And farley, I wouldn’t open my mouth about being liberal outside of Oxford, lots of conservative hillbillies that like to pick their fights when the occasion arises.
January 3, 2008 at 10:27 pm |
farley, Hillary in a bikini sounds better than Bill in a bikini…nothing else comes to mind.
January 3, 2008 at 10:27 pm |
I would just have to say and point, “Hey, is that Archie Manning humping Colonel Reb?” And your Rebel conservative redneck brethren would be in a trance trying to find them. I would in turn make my getaway!
January 3, 2008 at 10:29 pm |
Could be fun to see Bill be the first Man. And see if he tries to hookup with anymore interns. I stoned, “frisky” first man could be fun! Not for me, but maybe for Condi!
January 3, 2008 at 10:29 pm |
Well, I hated to do this, but at least Bush isn’t supporting the homo marriage deal, talks of outlawing baby-killing (otherwise known as abortion) has arose while he has been in office, and he hasn’t tried to take away my right to bear arms.
And economically, we’ve been in pretty dang good shape, and if all of our factory jobs would quit leaving overseas (which goes back to the Clinton admin.), we’d really be lookin good
January 3, 2008 at 10:30 pm |
I don’t wear long sleeves any of the time! Would be pissed if I had to wear a jacket! I’m keeping my bare arms!
January 3, 2008 at 10:31 pm |
Can someone give farley a rimshot for that last line?
January 3, 2008 at 10:33 pm |
I’ve missed you on here OR! You kill anymore deer? I can’t find anywhere to go around here.
January 3, 2008 at 10:33 pm |
Farley, are you really a MS native, born and raised? If you are, you’re parents had to be from somewhere else, right?
January 3, 2008 at 10:35 pm |
Nah farley, just the 7 pointer, I hunt Upper Sardis WMA, it’s a perpetual deer haven, no one hunts it, especially during muzzeloader season. I’ve been sick the past several days and haven’t gone but I’m anxious to get back at it.
January 3, 2008 at 10:39 pm |
Nope. My dad was a Pentecostal minister and my mom a homemaker. Both were born and raised in Columbus. I’ve just never bought in to everything they were selling. I have always felt the need to question things. Authority does not really work for me. In case you have not noticed, I kind of walk to the beat of my own drum.
January 3, 2008 at 10:40 pm |
Going in the morning to Macon to hunt for the first time in years. I shoot about like Dick Chaney so don’t be surprised to read about any “hunting accidents” in the DJ Saturday or Sunday.
January 3, 2008 at 10:40 pm |
Really?! I’ve never noticed…
January 3, 2008 at 10:42 pm |
2thdoc, good luck to you tomorrow, wished i were joining you, the bucks are running does right now so try to let the females walk unless you’re just wanting some good deer tenderloin. If you bag one, make sure to let us know.
January 3, 2008 at 10:45 pm |
Farley, I see where you get your seemingly Northern viewpoints. If my dad were a Pentacostal preacher, I’d question things too. I went to a Pent. church once, the talking in tongues and old ladies falling to the floor in convulsions scared the crap out of me, and for a young kid like I was, it’s something that can make a remarkable impact on your view of things.
January 3, 2008 at 10:45 pm |
Pretty good shape?? Do you know how much the war is costing this country every month? How much is gas now compared to eight years ago, and what is Bush doing about it? If Bush is a conservative, why is he so environmentally un-friendly? I won’t get into the abortion stuff again. I think we hit on that a couple weeks ago.
Most, if not all, career politicians are crooked one way or another. They’ll say and do whatever to get re-elected. And it’s not going to get any better.
Ok, I’m done with this for the night. I could be doing this till sunrise.
January 3, 2008 at 10:45 pm |
Farley, didn’t mean anything bad in my previous post, all Pents may not be like that but the one I attended, oh boy….
January 3, 2008 at 10:47 pm |
Same here TGL, we’re not gonna change each other’s minds about it, so why fight about it. We may be different, but I do respect opposing opinions, no matter how screwed up they are
j/k
January 3, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
My family was like that. Now I’m Episcopalian. Much more excepting of everyone and no fire and brimstone! Plus, real wine in church! My kind of place. Now, if we could only get beer on the Wednesday night meals, I’d be golden!
January 3, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
Don’t worry…it’s a pretty big fine at this place for shooting the wrong size. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m looking forward to the food and drink time.
January 3, 2008 at 10:51 pm |
I got a buddy that goes to your church farley, you and him are remarkably similar in attitude and mannerisms…could there be a connection? Hmmmm….
January 3, 2008 at 10:52 pm |
It’s the wine. They spike it!
January 3, 2008 at 10:53 pm |
And farley, not to step on toes or anything, but why even bother with church if you’re going only to drink wine and socialize? Can’t you do that on the square and get the same treatment?
January 3, 2008 at 10:59 pm |
I’m actually very religious. We have crosses all over our place and my Bible and Book of Common Prayer are both on my bedside table. I wear a cross around my neck each day. First thing I put on in the morning and last thing I take off at night. My faith is very important to me. I just like to have fun with. See, the Episcopalians can do that without fear of being ostracized. God has to have a sense of humor, he allowed someone to have the idea of creating a university in this town! He must have been resting that day too!
January 3, 2008 at 11:07 pm |
lol, as much as I would love to get into a Biblical and religious debate with you farley, I haven’t the time or energy. I guess if you feel that what you do makes God happy and that your salvation is secure, then that’s all that matters isn’t it. You’re a different breed, that’s for sure, the preverbial “black sheep”. I just hope that you’re not relying on God to find favor with you b/c of your crosses and religious “fun”. And with that, I bid you all a very good night, and farley, you sure make this blog entertaining. I think Gregg needs to start giving you a monthly cut for the business you bring in, what you think Gregg???
January 3, 2008 at 11:46 pm |
Where are you going in Macon, 2thdoc? Circle M?

I remember the days when this used to be a sports blog. LOL! I love the diversity here. It’s why this is the top blog at the DJ.
If I had a cut to give, OR, farley would get it.

Sorry Gregg. I will try to stay on topic from now on. What on Earth are we gonna talk about, basketball season? Well, that’s been a bust. What other women’s sports are going on right now?

There will be no jumping on anything basketball related for me. You got those nekkid girls lined up for me for halftime yet draws?

Farley, basketball is in place to pass the time between the end of football and the start of spring football.

Yes they are. Pretty sure someone said something about tassels to, but I could be maing that part up
Gregg, I will just stick to hockey. More exciting and the team in Southaven is pretty good. Another reason to have beer too!

Man, my computer at work is possessed! The “K” button does not work half the time and it’s slower than Momma Smith when she was repeating the 5th grade for the 3rd time!

farley, I didn’t blog much during the holiday’s. How did you groove with your Central Florida fans? I think I met some of the guy’s that you were talking to on rivals.

I almost got into a fist fight. Some guy in the section next to us walked up the stairs cursing and flipping us off. I listened to him for 3 and half quarters and finally told him to shut the hell up. He told me to “F” off and I told him I would whip his rear end. Insert several bad words into that as you see fit. He told me to shut my redneck rear end up or he would do it for me. So, I tried to make my way to him and my wife, brother, and brother in-law would not let me. I told him after the game, I was whipping his butt! He sat down, on the other side of his mustached wife mind you, and never said another word. After the fourth down they did not convert, dude sprinted down the steps and out of the stadium. You won’t believe it, but I lost my cool for a moment. Had other bad instances with their fans, but that is the one that sticks out.

I here you. We had port-a-johns close to our tailgate spot, and I was in line to partake. CFU fan was behind me so I try to strike up a friendly conversation. This guy tries to turn it into a (we’re better than you, cowbells are stupid) arguement. We had just got there so a blew it off and just turned around. But during the game… (you’ll love this) We had one sitting two rows in front of us. He drank about 1 1/2 pints in the game, and you could tell it. He was turned around to this family telling a 7 year old that if he does good in school he could play for CFU one day. This kids dad was boiling. He also had words with my dad. Sooooooo.. On my way to the bathroom I walked by him and gave him a noogy on top of his spiked hair. He was so drunk he couldn’t figure out who did it. Oh yeah, he was gone before the end of the game.

I could not believe how classless their fans were. We had several run ins with them at the parade and entering in the stadium. There was one jerk who held up a sign that said “Ring your cowbell if your GAY” …no lie. He was a piece of work. CLASSLESS!!!!

There not used to this whole ‘having a football team’ thingy.
