It’s Mississippi State at Arkansas, where the Bulldogs have won just twice in Bud Walton Arena.
Who wins, and who’s your leading scorer? And, how many turnovers with Gary Ervin have?
In other games for your picking pleasure . . .
• Vanderbilt at Ole Miss
• Georgia at South Carolina

I saw in the paper this morning that Thomas was suspended for the game. That’s good, he’s a helluva player. Had to of been pretty bad. Pelphrey sounded pretty mad. Gregg, with OM getting their new practice facility, do you think that will speed up the process for State? And I heard the coaches teleconference. I couldn’t help but notice that nearly every question to Andy Kennedy was asking about State’s team. That had to get him ill.

Hard fought game, but we match arky’s home atmosphere with great D and intensity.Besides history, we have no reason to lose
January 29, 2008 at 9:29 am
and watch out for the Rhodes and irvin fight. I talked to shane powers before he left state, and he said irvin was the problem with the team when he was at state, remember him hitting Rhodes in the balls last year? I wish we could beat them by 30 like we always do when we play them at the hump, but in “Fayet-nam” as we called it on the fball team, its always different

Palying at Ark worries me. I think the last time we won up there was when ervin was still a dawg. He hit a 3 late to win it for us. Before that, I don’t think we won at all.

And south Carolina will kill uga, south Carolina has a ton of talent, but their record doesnt show

You guys know that I am a diehard Ole Miss fan and I hope you don’t mind my conversation the other blog just don’t hop like this one.
My point!
Ole Miss is a good basketball team, Mississippi State is a dominant basketball team. If they played like they are now early in the season they would be 3rd undefeated team left in the country. I think at seasons end they will be a Top 10 team no question. When Rhodes and Gordon are on they can’t be beat.

I’m a MSU alum and a current grad student at UA. I’ll be in Bud Walton Wednesday night silently pulling for the Bulldogs in the student section.
Everyone here is excited about the future with John Pelphrey, but can’t wait for this bunch of seniors to graduate. I think the Dogs win big, but Michael Washington could have a big game filling in for Thomas. (There is still no word as to exactly what violation of team rules Thomas committed.) I’m really looking forward to the Varnado-Hill match-up.

Hill’s a good guy. He grows his hair out and has it cut for Locks of Love. He goes from looking like a caveman to a little kid with one trip to the barber.

I hear ya, imabulldog! Never really cared for Ervin, myself.
Anybody else see the Lunardi stream on ESPN? He talks about his new brackets and also talks about MSU about half way through it. Here is a link. The stream is on the right side down a little ways.

January 29, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Nothing will ever be sweeter (as far as Ervin goes) than when in his return to the Hump last season, Joe Iupe outscored him 2-0. That was priceless!
As for this week, I think we will win 71-66.
January 29, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Yeah, we’ve suddenly become a media darling. Let’s hope we don’t let them down this week!

Not sure why Lunardi says that State’s non-conference schedule was so weak. South Alabama, Miami, and Clemson are proving to be formidable opponents. Before the season, Southern Illinois and Missouri would be seen as difficult wins. I don’t know too many teams that would be willing to play the non-conference schedule that we did this year. An RPI of 56 is just crazy.
January 29, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Well, I’m 0 for 1. Bama hung tight, but, Tenn was just too deadly from 3 point land. Chris Lofton is back in a big way! The man is unbelievable. Glad to see him find his stroke… hope he loses it again before Saturday!
January 30, 2008 at 12:23 am
Well on the CL blog I prognosticated a 5-7 pt win with the Dawgs pulling it out in the last 3 minutes. My guesses is
MSU 71 ARK 64
Vandy 92 - Ole Miss 88
Georgia 74 - USC 71
Auburn 88 - LSU 77
Going out on a limb here I say TN beats ALA 92-86… but that’s just guess!
January 30, 2008 at 8:34 am
I think State drops one here. Hate to be the one to do it, but I am just nervous about this game. Why we can’t seem to win in Ark, in anything, is beyond me. I think the Dawgs keep it close with D, but the home court becomes to much to overcome.

Who is that PBeez dork on the Reb’s page?
We get on here and chat like typical bluecollar people, and he’s over there “Per say, about your comments”….blah….”no need in picking scabs”…..blah blah…..”to all the so called dawg fans”….blah.
If you are scratching your head yet, I am. This is a rivalry dude, smack happens
January 30, 2008 at 10:54 am
I meant are you scratching your head yet
January 30, 2008 at 10:57 am
he’s an idiot. Before he came along you could go over there and talk about things. Agree or disagree, the rebs over there would discuss sports. He and a couple more take it way too personal.
January 30, 2008 at 10:59 am
You guys better watch out. The off topic police might show up at any minute.

January 30, 2008 at 11:35 am
Gregg must be hiding from “Charlie” in Fayette-nam, either that or sleeping in like a champ!
-Quick lets talk about homosexualtity, the KKK and NAACP
January 30, 2008 at 11:37 am
It might be that there hasn’t been much action over there from State guys (and gals) until after we got stomped. People can be ultra-sensitive when it comes to rivalries.
January 30, 2008 at 11:50 am
That’s what I’m finding out. I tried being sane and sensible but that one individual got very testy. Otherwise it was ok. I really wish them well except for when they play us. Some of our fans that have gone there have not been exactly cordial and that’s expected. I guess it was the OM hype (which was deserved because of their record to that point) that some couldn’t deal with very well.
January 30, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Where in the world is Gregg?? Is it that long of a drive up to Pigville??
There must be some big MSU news brewing somewhere. His next post had better be good, or I will reduce my visits to this page to 78 times per day.
January 30, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Gregg has been missing for sometime now, has anyone sent out a search party yet?

Good luck to the Dawgs tonight!! Tough road test tonight but State has been the road warrior of the SEC.
January 30, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Hey farley got a icon that just popped up that says I have a unknown trojan what do I do???????
January 30, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Take that for what its worth guys. That came from the same source that told me Coach O was going to start doing the Geico caveman commercials too.
And no, I’m not going to reveal my source.
January 30, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Run your virus software. A ton of times it’s just a pop-up add for a company peddling their product. Probably not a big deal.
January 30, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Thanks man like you said maybe the topic police isn’t paying attention.
January 30, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Sorry, sorry, sorry.I’m alive. Barely. Stopped in little rock to have dinner with a friend. Then had a migrane that knocked me off my feet. Finally went to sleep at 4 and didn’t wake up til noon. Back in the car now way late but when I get to f’ville ill do an update. Promise! Carry on!

You guys are quite entertaining. Any magic pill for migraines? Good gosh.
Nate, sorry about your grandfather.
And guys, for the record, there are no rules about staying on topic.
And prez, you win for the best comment of the day, regarding my hotel. I too about cracked up.
January 30, 2008 at 4:08 pm
When I get a migraine, the only thing I can do is take 2 extra-strength excedrin and lay down in a dark, quiet room.
I’m usually ok in an hour or two.
I do know a few people who have much more serious ones than I do, so I don’t know if that would work for you or not, Gregg.
January 30, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Glad you made it, Gregg, but I’m clueless about migraines.
Prez, that was hilarious!
Nate, my family will be praying for you, too.
Jaybird, loved your Hillary sign on your blog.
Can’t wait until tonight. I want to see Ervin play terrible about as much as I want the dawgs to win.
January 30, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I’ve had three in my life, and that one was by far the most severe. I couldn’t move.
January 30, 2008 at 4:26 pm
I’ve heard migraines can be brought on by sleeping without a pillow.
January 30, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Gregg, Bring in a bottle of whiskey and sit it right on top of the scorer’s table. Sip on it until the 2nd half begins so the WhoooooooPigSuey doesn’t awaken the migraine. If state is winning big you won’t have to finish it.
January 30, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I heard the smell of white trash could bring that on. Coincidence? I think not. Why do poor people smell like sour milk?
January 30, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I just read PA’s blog that some of you ventured over to. Did we ever learn what TTSGU was?
BTW, would you all be interested in doing a chat? I think we already do a pretty good informal one every day. But if you all, we will.
January 30, 2008 at 4:48 pm
We had some ideas Gregg. Not sure if they were correct.
I’ll chat. I’ve got PA’s blog, yours, and now mine. I like to talk.
January 30, 2008 at 4:58 pm
2thdoc, now that was funny. And now I’m worried. For my head, MSU needs to bolt out to a 20-0 lead and never look back. Gosh, calling the pigs is perhaps the most annoying of all SEC traditions.
farley, you never disappoint. Sour milk? Wait til you have kids. That smell will take over quickly.
January 30, 2008 at 4:59 pm
What were the idea’s on what TTSGU meant?? Glad you made it safe Gregg. There is absolutley nothing in Fayetteville is there. Except for that Pig college. PA has ejected me from his blog. I am about to head to Oxford for I hope is the bounce back game.
January 30, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Sure. I’ve got yours, Dr. Evil’s, and Jenna Jam-…..i uuuuuuh mean um Jenny Craigs.
January 30, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Actually, Fayetteville is one of my favorite SEC towns. It has a great downtown with some really neat restaurants and watering holes. It’s just brutal getting here if you don’t fly.
