One week after leading his team to the Sweet 16, Western Kentucky coach Darrin Horn is leaving for South Carolina.
It’s amazing how that works. I guess he’s this year’s hot coach. Hey, it happens with impressive runs in the NCAA tournament.
Horn coached the Hilltoppers five years and posted a 111-48 ledger during that span. He takes over an USC program that’s won just 41 SEC games the last seven seasons.
Good hire? Surprised?
And for today’s reading . . .
• Jamont Gordon wins Bailey Trophy and says he’ll test the NBA waters.
• And in case you haven’t heard, long-time Kentucky equipment manager Bill Keightley died Monday night. For years, he sat next to the coaches on the bench during the games and gained fame for all the UK basketball coaches he’s worked with.

He should do OK. He took over for Dennis Felton who left for UGA. We all know what he’s done. Nothing really, then an SEC Tourney championship.

Felton had a lot to overcome, now. He didn’t exactly walk into the most ideal of situations.

I always pictured him as a built in scape goat. Just like Herman Edwards. Hired to rebuild, then fire for a fresh start.

If he does get fired, that porn star ’stache could land him a new job.
