Hansbrough to transfer (with an update)

I just got off the phone with Ben, who asked that I call back later tonight. For the time being, that’s all he had to say.

Talk about a dagger. If Jamont Gordon leaves, that’s 27 points a game that won’t be back. I called Jamont earlier too, but have not heard back from him.

I also just talked with someone close to Ben who said he doesn’t know where he’ll transfer to and that he’ll use the next couple of weeks to make that decision.

Do you ever wonder if Mississippi State is sitting atop some ancient buriel site?

It is UNREAL how many “internet rumors” are coming true these days.

Rick needs to be VERY up front with us.

This is UNPRECEDENTED. Average to poor programs lose players at this rate. Our program is much to strong to be free bleeding like this.

I thought this is what happened when Greg has the blog title last week about “Hansbrough set to leave.” Had heard rumors but had thought it had passed. It is becoming hard to be a bulldog.

Farley, I think this is definitely the case where you could have spelled out the entire word and I wouldn’t have understood completely.

The crazy part is that I saw him in the Sanderson an hour ago playing bball with all they guys on the team. I’m so confused!!

Second thoughts/ between the lines reading.

Attached to the “Ben Transfers” rumor is the idea that he had an ice cold relationship with Jamont.

Does this mean Jamont got advice, which he will take, to return to Starkville?

    I think so.

ok.. got all the expletives out of my mind…. I was scared this would come true. You could tell by Bens body language in many games that he was unhappy. I know it does get frustrating for an excellent wing man to stand on the perimeter wide open and watch Jamont jack up a shot…..
Many times I have heard people speak critically of Stansbury’s relationship with his players and everytime I have supported Stans. But now with the loss of Ben, a very sensible guy known for his character, I too am concerned. Stans def has issues retaining his players.. that is not something you want in your coach. And I can only wonder if Stans’ little argument with Ben at the SEC tourney may have been the nail in the coffin! These are trying times for Bulldog fans!

You suck Hansbrough! Take your ball and leave you little crybaby. You should be kissing Stainsberry’s arse for letting you play 35+ minutes a game as you continued to throw up bricks this season.

Congratulations on your one fine performance this season at SC. The rest of the time you SUCKED!!!!

My!My! Just what is going on down there in St……ville? help, just call!

Gregg, our boy in Tupelo the other day said Psycho T gets the psycho part from their dad who is one crazy cat missing a few keys on the laptop. Just saying that if dad had something to do with this decision he might not qualify as advice worthy.

  11. judwe Says:

I don’t think it’s beneficial to throw either Ben or Stans under the bus at this point.

    Aw heck, throw’em both under!!!

The root of this problem is probably split between the greed of these players and the indecisiveness of the coaching staff. These kids have the stars in their eyes…and the coaches have FAILED to assign these kids ROLES coming in. Ben, Reggie and Richard all were brought in under the vague terms of “combo guard”. Our staff has failed to target and prioritize recruiting POINT GUARDS. Instead the best athlete has been pegged with that role and the leftovers are left in the balance as the PG is developed.

Bottom line is that we have to be straight with recruits …”You’re good, we want you… but this is the pecking order…” Not popular, probably not practical… but the way it should be done.

I’ve heard that too, 2thdoc. I never met the man, though.

    what the heck!!!!!!!!!!

Btw, I just left campus at Memphis and those cocky idiots are already selling national champ shirts! Everyone in this town is so sure they are going to win, and trust me- we ain’t talkin confidence, cockiness

Ben was clutch at times, lost some times shooting the 3, mono the rest of the time, all while logging 35 minutes a game. What does he think he will get playing somewhere else learning to fit into a system…36 minutes?

I just hope Stans makes an example of him and not allowing him to transfer to a decent school. Thanks for the 3 FT’s Ben. Don’t let door hit you on the way out.

  17. ericintupelo Says:

I for one am sad to see Ben leave. He was my favorite player on the team but watching almost every game this season, me and my friends would comment on how it just seemed nobody wanted to pass Ben the ball no matter how open he was. I am sad to see him go and as long as he doesn’t transfer to a rival school, I guess I won’t hate him.

  18. farley662 Says:

That’s part of being the lone cracker in the starting lineup.

  19. dawgbones Says:

There is not good blood between Jamont and Ben but the biggest problem is the players realize after a couple of years that Stansbury is not a coach. They lose respect for him. Players with Jamont and Rhodes personality do what they want on the court and ignore the coach. Players like Hansbrough who have a disciplined background become discouraged that Stansbury doesn’t control them, but most importantly realize lack of “game coaching”. The burial ground could be, except we need to get rid of the chief in this case, not the Indians. I would encourage each of you who are Bulldog Club members to call Greg Byrne and ask him what is going on and voice your displeasure with the situation.

My spouse is in reality a blood relative of the Indian Nation. I definitely feel her hositility toward the “white eyes” from time to time. So, just maybe, she, has cast a spell on MSU, since she does hears my sleep talking.

Some nasty rumors out there about the transfer (Members of Ben’s family and former State players)

There’s a reason Ben’s dad has not been to Starkville in a long time for a game.
    Rumor about prescription drugs???
