Tiger bait or Dog treats . . .

How do you see the Mississippi State-LSU series unfolding this weekend?

A. State sweeps
B. LSU sweeps
C. Bulldogs win two
D. Tigers win two

MSU coach Ron Polk will stick with his rotation of Chad Crosswhite, Ricky Bowen and Justin Pigott.

As for the series, LSU will bid farewell to Alex Box Stadium on Sunday with the series finale. The Tigers will move into the new Box for the start of the 2009 season. And in case you didn’t read the above story, Polk will be a part of the farewell ceremony tonight for old Box. To see how, you’ve gotta read the story.

In preparation for the advance and a Sunday piece on Ron Polk, I spoke with Skip Bertman and Ben McDonald. I really enjoyed talking to both and I didn’t realize just how close Ben was to signing with MSU.

As for me, it’s back to normal. I’ve been called out of the bullpen to assist in prep coverage this week with tennis and golf, while also working on Gum Tree 10K stories. Crazy week, I tell ya, but I apologize for neglecting this blog the last few days.

    And you’re forgiven, GG.

  3. bigdraws Says:

gg, any idea what they have in store for Ronny next weekend? I heard about a ceremony before the game, and a poster giveaway.

  4. rebelnate Says:

I say they will be tiger bait. LSU is really hot right now.

    I see a LSU sweep.

    Game 1
    MSU- 2
    LSU- 14

    Game 2
    MSU-4
    LSU-13

    Game 3
    MSU-7
    LSU- 9

  5. jaybirdms Says:

I did not realize that Polk had a winning record down there.

  6. Gregg Ellis Says:

Draws, don’t know the specifics of Saturday’s ordeal, but as soon as I know something, I’ll let you all know.

As bad as we are this year, we still haven’t been swept. That being said we’ll probably get swept this weekend.

  8. bigdraws Says:

Cool, I’ll be there for the entire series. Where is your press box at? I’m sitting right below JE on the last row.

  9. rebelnate Says:

State has been swept twice this year.

  10. bigdraws Says:

    yep, SC and Vandy.

  11. rebelnate Says:

Sorry draws I was correcting theconquistador. Wasn’t trying to offend you.

  12. bigdraws Says:

    You didn’t.

  13. rebelnate Says:

    Just making sure

  14. theconquistador2 Says:

I completely forgot about SC and Vandy. What was I thinking? I guess my mind is already beginning to block this season out.

  15. rebelnate Says:

That means they are getting swept in 25% of the SEC series’ this year.

  16. bigdraws Says:

    He forgot about that 25%.

  17. rebelnate Says:

    I can understand forgettin like 10 % or 15% but 25%

  18. theconquistador2 Says:

I really don’t know how I forgot. I’ve even got a schedule in my office with W’s and L’s besides each game. Oh well. Not that it matters.

  19. imabulldog Says:

Instead of making predictions like I always do for the bball team, I’ll just say we continue to suck, but a series win would be nice

  20. 2thdoc Says:

    B. A series win would be nice but at this point I don’t even care.
Kinda more interested to see if Tupelo can pull out 2 wins against Clinton. My last game to pitch in high school was losing to them in the finals at home 1-0. I know Enis remembers it since he was catching.

    Did I say, B? Yes,B

  22. Gregg Ellis Says:

Conquistador, I guess you can say, that’s baseball.

  23. msudawgs64 Says:

    should have had a E..

    Who cares anymore.

I’m no rocket surgeon but when you face 16 batters in an inning, give up 11 hits, and 9 earned runs, why not let the kid go as long as he possibly can. The fact he is even starting is bad enough.

Can someone tell me if this coaching staff is actually awake during the games.

    LSU will sweep this team.

  24. nashdawg Says:

Jim just said that Coach Polk’s festivities will be the Saturday game with many former players in attendence. Abt 2:45pm…

Despite my dim outlook on the Dawgs play this season and the LSU series this weekend, I am proud to be a Diamond Dawg fan and supporter since ‘84! And will be @ Dudy Noble nx wknd.

  25. msudawgs64 Says:

    I hear you nashdawg..

as bad as this season as been and I truly want it to end, I have kept up with every game this season. Living in Texas it is hard to get over to Starkville that often to catch a series so thank goodness for Stattracker, though the stats have not been pretty this year.

  26. db33 Says:

    D, if we get lucky

And, Gregg, how about “Tiger Bait or Dawg Meat” instead.

Dog treats? I have never heard anyone chant “dog treats” at the opposing team. How lame would that be!?

  27. bigdraws Says:

    At least Polk wasn’t chunked.

  28. Gregg Ellis Says:

Draws, there are still two games left.

  29. rebelnate Says:

Hey conquistador the sweep percentage went up to 33%
