Mississippi State’s women defeated Texas 71-63 today in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It was the Lady Bulldogs’ first NCAA appearance in six years. An 11 seed, MSU (23-9) will play the Ohio State-Sacred Heart winner at 6 p.m. Monday. These first two rounds of the Berkeley region are being played in Columbus, Ohio, on the home court of Ohio State, a No. 3 seed.
Alexis Rack led State with 20 points and hit 13 of 13 free throws. As a team, MSU made 21 of 22 at the line. Clutch.

How does a three seed get home court advantage?

Good question.
What a breath of fresh air it was to watch a well coached basketball TEAM today. The ladies all hustle and play together.

Sites were predetermined, but apparently the selection committee doesn’t try very hard not to give someone homecourt advantage. That’s how I heard it explained, anyway.

I read where Rack said that Coach Fanning makes shooting 100 free throws a part of practice. I wonder if Stans does the same? As far as the future of the men’s b-ball team, it should be bright. After winning the SEC Tournament and going to the NCAA, I wouldn’t think anyone would want to transfer with all the talent that is there. Hopefully the off-season goes well and the team gets stronger and healthy.

I assume by your comment Buzzard that you are implying that the men don’t play together as a team and aren’t well coached. If that is the case then I can only say that you are simply wrong.
This team had it’s up and downs this year but you can’t say they weren’t well coached or didn’t play as a team. Team play was a major change this year over last. No one player tried to take over and they were very unselfish. It was a different player stepping up from game to game.
where the team was coming into this season and where they ended up was far better than anyone could have expected.
