See ya, Kentucky

by

In yet another overtime thriller, the third of the SEC tournament, Georgia held off Kentucky 60-56.

And if you watched the game on television, more than once you heard the announcers talk about Kentucky’s fatigue. Hum. Wasn’t it Georgia that had already played, while the Wildcats had the bye? Just wondering.

Anyway, Mississippi State gets Georgia tonight, with the winner advancing to Sunday’s 2:30 p.m. finals that will be aired by ESPN2 and on local CBS affiliates.

Making excuses for Big Blue. They are like Bama football fans. They never lose, they get cheated.

  2. warbirdz44 Says:

We better beat the hell out of Georgia tonight.

Wow! Has this been a tournament to remember or what? I’m glad Georgia won, too, although State may actually match up better with UK. Without Patterson, they have no inside game. Not that Bliss can keep up with Rhodes or Varnado, but he can rebound.

Hey guys, I’m back after a three day trip to Sam’s Town for a “conference”. Good thing it is expensed because I’m gonna need some reinbursment for the room and food to cover the table loses. If anyone does go to Sam’s I would suggest trying Twain’s. They make one hell of a steak. The long island’s in the casino were hit and miss though. Anyway, I missed the first day of the tourney but I’m liking our chances of winning this thing. Saw a few lazy passes from Jamont last night but nothing that could kill us, and with kentucky gone it’s looks like we should get a rematch with tennessee.

    I was hoping for a second overtime….

Come on Gregg, you could have let Ashley Judd borrow your press pass just for one game. Priceless looks on the faces of the Kentucky fans.

Also hilarious was Tim Brando’s plea for a foul on the baseline throw in for UK with 1 second left. We’ll hear about it for another year like the foul line fiasco last year after losing to State.

    Maroon Bulldogs : 62

    ” Tired” Bulldogs : 50

When you see Stans grinning, he likes what he sees…….

  8. 2thdoc Says:

Bliss is going to have a handful with a rested Jarvis inside. Might see more zone defense from us tonight against Gains

  9. leeearl Says:

Wow! Never imaged we’d be playing Georgia figured on LSU/KY/ or Ole Miss, guess they’re trying to save Dennis’s job for him….Go Dogs!!!!

I believe the SEC tourney being called Catlanta will be a thing of the past in the future.

  11. Gregg Ellis Says:

Doglanta, leearl, with MSU and UGA playing.

  12. farley662 Says:

Humplanta since the Rebs like to call both teams leg humpers or because of all the State fans who got turned away.

  13. leeearl Says:

    I like Doglanta, Greg 🙂

  14. imabulldog Says:

UGA looked wore out, I would say that was one of the sloppiest games Id ever seen but then I though about ours last night

  15. farley662 Says:

What time does your shindig start tomorrow? Any prizes? Anything special besides the big tv?

  16. fun2bmaroon Says:

Could be called “Mylanta”…..As in we own it if we win the tournament, or the drug, if we lose and have to take a lot of it from all the stress……

  17. Gregg Ellis Says:

Farley, you can get there anytime for lunch. But really, it’s all going to start with the game, then conclude with the selection show. There’s several TVs there, and they’ll have a screen up for my blog. I’ll be interacting with you guys through the blog while at the game and with the team during the selection show, if possible.

I like it fun2bmaroon, especially with this years OT games, tornados, and the Big Blue pouters all over the place.

  19. warbirdz44 Says:

Gregg I read on another message board that state had to leave their walkthrough and go back to the hotel due to tornado warnings at the GT campus. Is this true?

  20. farley662 Says:

Will do. Should have gotten in touch with State and set up some kind of promo. It’s all about marketing!

  21. Gregg Ellis Says:

warbirdz, that’s simply not true. I can verify that, for sure.

  22. tupelodent Says:

I just pulled in to Tupelo, back from Atlanta. That was one wild ride last night. Even after we new that a tornado had hit the dome, I was not prepared for the damage we found outside. My two boys and I walked from the dome to our hotel about 6 blocks away and had a first hand look at all the broken glass and debris. Thank God for overtime, without it there would have definately been more injuries. We are very glad to be home.

  23. 2thdoc Says:

    Gregg, any Ashley Judd sightings?

  24. tupelodent Says:

    who’s broadcasting the games tonight?

  25. 2thdoc Says:

Glad your back Tupelodent. Did you contact someone about no refunds being given.

  26. tupelodent Says:

not even worried about it, if State takes care of business I’ll be reimbursed plus some furniture

  27. 2thdoc Says:

It’s on WCBI(13 comcast) and yahoosports has it on the internet too. Do you have directTV at home or just at the office?

  28. tupelodent Says:

    direct tv both places

  29. 2thdoc Says:

I’m sure it’s on direcTV but your welcome to come over if not. ESPN 2 has it tomorrow I believe along with CBS.
