He was on the bench a lot at the regionals during the Butler game at what seemed to be critical times. We were wondering why, now I know even though we didn’t notice him limping or anything. Watching Louisville play, if they stay that hot and focused TN and UNC had better look out. TN will have to play a lot better than they did at the regional to beat Louisville.

On the Garrett kid, I bet Croom is pi**ed. He told the “delta cartel” not to worry that the kid was MSU through and through, the kid’s dad headed up the Lee county Bulldog club, etc.etc. that the father had told Croom not to worry when the LSU rumor popped up the first time. Yeah, no doubt Croom is upset and I doubt the Garrett tent will be welcome at State by a lot of folks. If I were them I would drive on down to Baton Rouge and tailgate with all the cajun corndawgs. They will have a hard time finding anyone that they will fit in with down there. Give me a break on the “praying” deal. You think God cares about where a kid goes to college to play football???? He cares about morals, truth, etc. I don’t remember who posted the “praying message” on the other blog but they are right. Some people are so misguided to bring God into such a topic. Kinda like the guy who hit the walk off home run and said he was “praying to God that he would hit one out”. Guess God didn’t like the pitcher’s prayer “praying to God that I would strike him out”. Mr. Garrett, if you do read the blog, then grow up and leave God out of it. It was a personal decision and who knows, it might be the best for Chris in the long run, only time will tell (definitely more offensive minded folks down there). But please, take the personal responsibility and leave God out of it.

I’m with bones on this one GG. If God said go to LSU, why the hatred for State? Do we not tithe enough? Is god fond of corndogs? Does he like hoish women and cheep malt liquor?

I dont blame him for going to LSU, just for committing then backing out. Recruits are getting really liberal with their commitments now… it doesnt really mean anything anymore….
As for the college decision, I give him a little slack. Im in college now and still dont know where I want to be, call me a perpetual transfer if you wish, hopefully when i make the round to Starkville I will stay.
As for the prayer thing, I dont have a problem with people praying about big decisions. Just don’t say you were led to do something unless you are certain God showed you the opportunity. People forget that Satan opens doors too. (Not that LSU scholarship is a work of Satan)
I do seriously hope he keeps up his prayer life while living in a crazy, wild, in some places heathen, college town. Sorry just had to do a little venting

There is nothing wrong with prayer, but athletes bring up God and prayer so often it has become cliche. You as a sports reporter should know this better than anyone.

I don’t want to hear the crap about him being a 17 year old kid… his character will follow him the rest of his corndog eatin’ life.

I don’t have a problem with prayer at all. I just don’t think God intended prayer to be about sports decisions and I know he certainly didn’t intend for it to be an excuse.

Gregg. I’m glad you are “trying to remain objective” but please do remember that fortunately the term COMMITMENT, to many, remains a very significant word in the English Language.
Sure, we’ve all had BIG decisions to make but usually not STATEWIDE public decisions like this. As a Christian I get peeved when I hear people envoke God’s name in the sense that he “told them to do something” …… God told Jim Jones to do something !!!
If it contradicts the Bible as I pointed out above) then you told yourself to do something and you are merely hoping God agrees and the public will be in accepting awe of your God backed “Word”.

Plus Farley makes a good point. If Garrett’s prayer reasoning holds water then God is definitely not an MSU fan. Of course, now it hits me, remember the kick into the wind at the Rebel/State game in Jackson in the 80’s, yep God is definitely an Ole Miss fan. Given that I don’t think he would have led anyone to LSU, just ask the Ole Miss folks to chime in on that. Remember the two plays in 3 seconds down in Baton Rouge. I’m sure the Rebel fans do.

Again Gregg, like it or not he is a public figure… not that he took any of that into account obviously. You bet I’ve changed my mind on decisions but I never had an audience.
The Garretts have made their bed and now they’ll just have to sleep in it. Right or Wrong, that’s life, that’s his decision… I’d secure a rental truck if I were them.

Fellow bulldogs, you disappoint me. Am I upset he changed his mind? Absolutely. However, he made a decision that he felt was the best for him. Fine, if he wants LSU, then that is where he should go.
I just have one question for everyone. Since signing day is 11 months away, what if he should change his mind again & decides he wants to come to MSU? Nearly every one of you have villified Chris for changing his mind. Certainly you will be just as angry if he goes back on his word to LSU, right? After all, it is about being true to your word, not the fact that he left MSU for LSU, right?

I agree with cowtown above. I’m dissapointed, yeah, but lets not hang him.
ANd I’m glad to know any youngster prays to make a wise decision, which is what he said. I don’t recall him saying God spoke to him and told him to go to LSU, he said he prayed for wisdom.
