It’s time for some baseball.
Today marks my first game since the College World Series, and I’m just not sure what to expect.
Of course, the game tonight is secondary. The news evolves around Ron Polk’s announcement on Thursday that he’s retiring. Tonight, he’ll comment for the first time on his decision to step down at year’s end. Hopefully, anyways. I’m banking on it, because that’s why my story is supposed to be on.
If you all want to chat during the game, we will. If not, oh well. That’s baseball.
How about a prediction on the weekend . . .
• How many games will MSU win against Georgia.

Kyle, considering the days events and the bulldogs lifelessness on the diamond, “Life” is an appropriately ironic, if not humorous, slip up. Lets hope their really will be some “life” in the bulldogs tonight.
March 28, 2008 at 7:31 pm |
Kyle? Wrong blog
March 28, 2008 at 7:31 pm |
Bulldogs lose 2 of 3. We’re just not a good baseball team right now.
Tom, Got your blogs confused?
March 28, 2008 at 7:36 pm |
In the top of the fourth, it’s 1-1. Yawner.
March 28, 2008 at 7:50 pm |
Thanks for the update, Kyle!
March 28, 2008 at 7:57 pm |
You guys are just so funny!
March 28, 2008 at 8:08 pm |
1-1 is pretty good considering how bad we have done this year!!!
March 28, 2008 at 8:12 pm |
Well, it’s now 2-2.
March 28, 2008 at 8:21 pm |
hey..still tied at least.
do you hear any talk about Koon or Wesson pitching. Just wondering whats up with the Tupelo guys
March 28, 2008 at 8:46 pm |
If you see Hubdog, will you tell him he’s a jackass GG? I hate that bastard.
March 28, 2008 at 9:01 pm |
Do they feed you at the game GG?
March 28, 2008 at 9:05 pm |
Farley, I’m sitting close to the Hub. I’ll show. Hang on.
And yes, gmvbham, hotdogs were on the house tonight.
March 28, 2008 at 9:07 pm |
Hey Farley, he doesn’t remember why he pissed you off. But he thinks your post is funny.
March 28, 2008 at 9:09 pm |
Hope you enjoyed the Bryan hotdogs. Changing subjects, Davidson sure didn’t look like a 10 seed tonight. Bet nobody had them going this far.
March 28, 2008 at 9:10 pm |
Salty tonight. I felt like a cow in the pasture.
March 28, 2008 at 9:11 pm |
He’s just not cool GG. Has a bit of an arsehole quality to him. Gonna kick him in the nads if I ever meet him! He’s one of those Gene’s page fools I can’t stand. I hate dawgsbite. Bunch of single minded drones.
March 28, 2008 at 9:13 pm |
LOL. He said to give him another chance. I mean, this could be like you and Nate all over again. First comes hate, then comes friendship.
March 28, 2008 at 9:13 pm |
Here we go sports fans, We’re in the bottom of the ninth and tied at 2-apiece.
March 28, 2008 at 9:16 pm |
I doubt it. I got my own peoples now. Don’t need no mo cronies!
March 28, 2008 at 9:17 pm |
Do you think Garrett may change his mind GG? What’s up with this offer to the Hollingsworth kid? Looks like the first offer he had and he jumped on it. Why not continue to recruit Garrett before making an offer so soon to somebody who on paper looks like they won’t get many offers.
March 28, 2008 at 9:18 pm |
None whatsoever, gmvbham. None whatsoever.
March 28, 2008 at 9:19 pm |
Is there something behind the scenes we don’t know in this recruiting saga?
March 28, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
You seem to be all alone tonight GG. I should be around a lot more often now, just ordered a blackberry so now I don’t have to be at the desk to check in, and I get on the hospital wireless for free. I can even ride in the van more often with farley.
March 28, 2008 at 9:22 pm |
What it is chris? You cracking the Stones?
March 28, 2008 at 9:25 pm |
Yes sir. No work, no call. I’m good all weekend. Wanted to go to the Sox-Mets game in Memphis tomorrow but no tickets for four. So it looks like golf or seeding and fertlizing the lawn, and a lot of Stones, because I think I gotta go out with the lady and some of her friends. May as well be about lit.
March 28, 2008 at 9:26 pm |
What’s the score GG?
March 28, 2008 at 9:30 pm |
Greg, has UGA pitching really been that good tonight?
March 28, 2008 at 9:33 pm |
uh oh, looks like this could be an SEC win for State; we have to be able to score a runner from 3rd with no outs
March 28, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
State wins 3-2 on wild pitch.. that was a single, stole second went to third on throwing error and scored on wild pitch
March 28, 2008 at 9:38 pm |
Tell Hub to get me a football with all the teams autographs and all will be forgiven.
March 28, 2008 at 9:43 pm |
Button down the hatch guys. The week is not over and neither is the football bad news. There is more on the way.
March 28, 2008 at 9:51 pm |
Do tell dawgbones
March 28, 2008 at 9:52 pm |
What the hell Booby done done?
March 28, 2008 at 9:55 pm |
oops. sorry.
March 28, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
I’ve heard similar things, dawgbones. Word has it that three more were somehow involved in the incident and will soon be dismissed.
By the way, that was one heck of a finish in the baseball game tonight.
March 28, 2008 at 10:44 pm |
Any idea who the 3 others are?
March 28, 2008 at 10:51 pm |
You trying to say all us white folks look alike Tom?
March 28, 2008 at 11:23 pm |
I’m told bones could be right.
March 28, 2008 at 11:29 pm |
gg do you have any idea who? are they starters?
March 29, 2008 at 12:14 am |
I bet Croom feels like some of his players, that he puts so much passion into molding into great players and fine men, just hit him with a low blow.
March 29, 2008 at 8:02 am |
Gregg, I was amused when Croom said to you in the Jounal that he was hoping for no “injuries this year. Does brain damage count as an injury? Maybe he will announce these 3 new ones as a bad streak of brain damage instead of gun possessions and firing off caps on campus.
Luckily the April 1 deadline reminder was emailed out for Bulldog Club priority while the police reports are still pending. I assume the reports will be finalized on the 2nd. Just saying…get those pledges in before our hopes get blown away completely by firearms.
March 29, 2008 at 8:27 am |
Some Superbulldog weekend. I really believed Croom had weeded out the thugs, it never ceases to amaze how kids can be so fickle. They watch TV or a video about somebody in LA and then copy what they see as if it is a blueprint for the way they should behave. I know a lot of you guys dislike Templeton, but personally I would prefer his experience at the helm now. Plus, very soon Byrne is not going to have “Doc” to tell him what to do and how to do it. This is a tough time for MSU, hopefully true leadership will emerge somewhere, not just rhetoric.
March 29, 2008 at 8:37 am |
Byrne will be fine without having doc telling him what to do, whatever that means. The best things to happen at state in years was LT being replaced
March 29, 2008 at 8:40 am |
Gregg, I just hope the news is confined to players at this point.
March 29, 2008 at 9:09 am |
Maybe is wasn’t Croom in an altercation at a bar…unless it was with Saban than I hope Croom kicked his tail.
March 29, 2008 at 9:20 am |
Obviously, some of yall are more “in the know.” What are you referring to?
March 29, 2008 at 10:06 am |
The buzz is AJ and Glanton.
March 29, 2008 at 10:07 am |
Thugs’R’Us…MSU Style
Nice pic by Pix…
March 29, 2008 at 10:12 am |
Email that pic to Croom 2th.
March 29, 2008 at 10:22 am |
Farley, Polk told him not to open email this week or to tell people he can’t turn on a computer to worry about those Blog rumors.
March 29, 2008 at 10:24 am |
I think GG created all these rumors because the Van was catching up on him in turn 2 and was about to take the checkered flag. Him and Hubdog.
March 29, 2008 at 10:26 am |
There wasn’t really a shooting, it was photoshopped.
March 29, 2008 at 10:31 am |
And it wasn’t Quinton Wesley, GG just had on a black cap and it was so massive, they just thought it was QW.
March 29, 2008 at 10:39 am |
Fulmer has to feel better about his job security. Who needs common sense when you can be a starter in the SEC.
March 29, 2008 at 10:44 am |
Hughes also?
March 29, 2008 at 10:46 am |
I’m just waiting on Dixon to be named. That would complete the week.
March 29, 2008 at 10:49 am |
Maybe Prince.
March 29, 2008 at 10:54 am |
That’s gonna be a big hit if it’s all of em. How the hell did the coaches let this happen. This close to the spring game, they should be on lockdown.
March 29, 2008 at 11:05 am |
Lockdown? Why would you have that?
March 29, 2008 at 11:05 am |
They soon will be Farley!
March 29, 2008 at 11:07 am |
Well,
1. no DP getting tickets
2. no guys shooting at other gangstas
3. no Josh Riddell getting a DUI
4. no GG trying to draw more traffic than the Van by making up stories about our fine group of young men
March 29, 2008 at 11:21 am |
Has anybody heard the interview Garrett gave to the guys in Baton Rouge. It really is unbelievable. He’s been down there twice and now is a huge LSU guy. His boss at a clothing store in Tupelo is a LSU alum. If he wants to go to the NFL getting playing time is a majority of the battle and they already have a kid from Houston committed who is ranked ahead of Garrett. Sorry, but I just can’t get over this one. If he were a basketball player Stans would not have lost this guy.
March 29, 2008 at 11:25 am |
gmvbham, hold that thought until Hopson signs for Stans.
March 29, 2008 at 11:30 am |
Little different situation doc with all due respect. Hopson hasn’t been a “lifelong” MSU fan with a dad who is President of the Lee County MSU Alumni Association. I hold out hope for Hopson but personally don’t think we will get him.
March 29, 2008 at 11:33 am |
Just picking at you. I’m am hysterically depressed this morning but am somehow getting excited about sending money today for football tickets. Imagine that.
March 29, 2008 at 11:39 am |
Football tickets? My stuff never came in the mail.
March 29, 2008 at 11:46 am |
April 1 is deadline for Bulldog Club priority points or donations to count for this year. May 15 for actual tickets…I think.
March 29, 2008 at 11:49 am |
Never received my packet in the mail. I’ll have to go online and check it out.
March 29, 2008 at 11:51 am |
I understand Doc. Trust me I understand. Garrett deserts us and the next day we offer a kid (Hollingsworth) who is the nephew of an Alabama great who made all area as a punter (not a quarterback as he will be with us). I hope we have found a gem but why hasn’t he been offered by others? Combine the above with the shootings, no AD in charge, no President and Polk resigning and saying how mad he will be if Raffo doesn’t get the job (I like Raffo but favor Cohen if he will come) and it’s sort of hard to get excited.
March 29, 2008 at 1:00 pm |
It all started with the “Vagina Monologues” presentation on campus Thursday, can only go downhill from there.
March 29, 2008 at 1:04 pm |
How’s the spring game going GG?
March 29, 2008 at 2:17 pm |
farley… i am new to the blog, but your comment about forwarding that horrible helmet picture to “Croom 2th” does that mean you are ‘anti’ Croom? I am just asking…personally I believe he is doing a great job, and ‘cleaning’ up the mess that was our football program… is it perfect – NO, will it ever be perfect – Absolutely not! No coach in the country can control his players 24/7… and I think too many are making too much about these incidents… Coach has dealt with them, in what I consider a fair and firm manner! None of us know what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ and what coach has had to deal with before these incidents… Brown will be missed, but IMHO I say good riddance…
Now I don’t say these things to insinuate that your feelings are the opposite, i was merely asking a question and expressing MY lil’ ole’ pea-pickin opinion… 🙂
March 29, 2008 at 2:30 pm |
Was merely a joke. I love CC. I think CC might get a kick out of it. If your new to the blog, I’m sorry for insulting you in advance, it’s bound to happen. Not anything personal, some of have a way of doing that just joking around.
March 29, 2008 at 2:55 pm |
cajundawg, welcome and post more often. Most of us back CC 100% but you have to make fun of stuff like this so we don’t drown in more depressing news than we can handle in a 48 hour period.
Not a good idea to start drinking early in the morning to drown out MSU sports coverage so sarcasm, stupid jokes, and criticiizing Farley fill in the void while we are treading water in the deep end of the SEC. Eventually someone will throw us a float….Hopson, Gordon, Cohen, somebody?
