MSU news, both sports and non-sports

by

In baseball action, Mississippi State took it on the chin Friday, dropping a 15-8 decision to Vanderbilt. The Commodores rallied with 11 runs in a row to overcome a 7-3 deficit.

As a result, the Bulldogs have to win the next two against Vandy to keep from losing their fifth-straight SEC series of the season. Hard times, this team.

On to other things . . .

Did you hear about the presidential search? It’s going to be conducted a little different this time around. I’d say that’s a good thing.

Sounds good to me. Nothing wrong with a good search to find the right person although Coach Polk might disagree. Good article on espn.com about how Bobby Bowden wanted Mickey Andrews to be his hand-picked successor but was overruled in favor of Jimbo Fisher.

I don’t know if this is the best way to assemble a search committee…. Nothing against the guys appointed, don’t even know them, but i hope they have the university’s best interest at heart. I am all for big money folks pitching in, after all they got the bread to make things happen. I just hope they aren’t looking for a dawg to eat out of their hands. Mississippi State needs strong leadership. We dont need them to go out and pick someone they can use as their puppet
