Vandy completes the sweep

Vanderbilt earned the sweep on Sunday with a nip-and-tuck 4-3 victory.

Unlike Friday and Saturday, Mississippi State had its chances in the ninth.

The Bulldogs added a run in the final frame, but left the bases full when Jason Nappi struck out to end the game.

Next up for MSU, which fell to 14-21 overall and 3-12 in SEC play, is Ole Miss Tuesday in Jackson for the annual Governor’s Cup.

Well, on a positive note we got a decent basketball commitment from Antiquawm Beckam(sp?) out of NH. Supposedly courted by Tenn. and Indiana who is 6-5, 180.

  2. dawgface52 Says:

Thanks. Hard to find many positives this time of the year. šŸ˜¦

  3. cajundawg Says:

OUCH! This is simply the ‘worst’ MSU baseball team I have ever experienced… and this ain’t my first rodeo… This hurts!

On the Beckham signing… only time will tell, but Stans seems to be a great judge of talent, but he doesn’t hit a home run ALL the time (i.e. Bernard Rimmer, Vernon Goodridge…) But he has brought in some pretty good talent to our school. Personally i think that Riley Benock is going to have a break out year next season as well as Barry “Randy” Stewart… now that we are free of the Hansbrough millstone!

  4. judwe Says:

Antiquan Beckham… of no relation to the Soccer/blonde fake pop singer Beckhams.

He was told that he’ll get most of his minutes at PG, some at the 2 spot. That takes Bost out of the PG slot.

This is what we’ll look like in November….

    1) “Twanny” Beckham/ Phil Turner
    2) Randy Stewart/ Dee Bost / Riley Benock
    3) Ravern Johnson/ Kodi Augustus
    4) Brian Johnson/ Romero Osby
    5) Jarvis Varnado/ Elgin Bailey

Jimmy Butler, the 6′ 6″ combo out of TylerJC/ Tomball, Texas is still in play.

  5. thespear Says:

Someone just let me know when this baseball season is over, I am trying to just pretend it is not happening.

and judwe, I think that you meant to have barry stewart in the 2 guard slot my friend

  6. judwe Says:

    No, I meant “Randy”.

  7. imabulldog Says:

Yeah, jack always says Randy, and never corrects it. Its one of the few things the ol’ man misses. Not bad for 80+ šŸ™‚

  8. imabulldog Says:

GG, check with someone and find out what the worst record is ever for a team who went to the CWS the year before? Bet we are holding that spot

  9. bigdraws Says:

judwe, Jack must be rubbing off on Jim Ellis. During the pregame show on Sunday, he was talking about last years team. Called Mitch Moreland “Jarvis Moreland”.

  10. theconquistador2 Says:

Someone pinch me. Are we really 3-12 in the SEC?

  11. rebelnate Says:

    Ain’t it great.

  12. bigdraws Says:

On a similar note, Nate is 0-last 2 years kicking his Abstinence status. Just watch how mad he gets sometimes.

  13. rebelnate Says:

    Thanks draws.

  14. rebelnate Says:

3-12 is awesome but 3-27 would be even better.

  15. rebelnate Says:

One good note is there will be a lot more great seats at the SEC tourney this year.

  17. jaybirdms Says:

This may be hard to believe, but MSU is only 3 games out of making the SEC tourney field.

If the tourney started today (I know everyone hates that saying), all 6 teams from the East would make it, plus Ole Miss and one of the 6-9 teams from the West.

Of course, there is plenty of time for State to increase that 3 game deficit.

  18. bigdraws Says:

How bad was Connor Power hurt? I think he had a hammy. That could be the nail in the coffin. He was knocking the cover off the ball lately.

  19. thespear Says:

sorry judwe, its just if i cant correct Jack I have to correct someone. I think i heard a couple of tv guys say randy this year too

  20. rebelnate Says:

There is one mistake they did not make this weekend.
They didn’t say “Bulldogs Win” or “The crowd goes bizerk”

  21. rebelnate Says:

I will have to admit that those 6 cowbells sounded good on the radio yesterday.

  22. bigdraws Says:

    We get the point Nate.

  23. rebelnate Says:

    What point?

  24. jaybirdms Says:

That nate likes to point out the obvious.

I’m hearing as much as 4 weeks for Powers.

  25. bigdraws Says:

There was low attendance and we lost. It’s all pretty funny coming from a fan of a team who had 22k for a fb game last year. We all know ya’ll back your teams when their down.

  26. rebelnate Says:

I must have been misunderstood or something I was not trying to put anyone down.

  27. bigdraws Says:

Gotta fill his time some how. Pa1 won’t let him back on the reb site. For obvious reasons.

  28. bigdraws Says:

    JB? Is that you?

  29. rebelnate Says:

Just trying to get GG’s numbers up some the van has really hurt the numbers over here.

I’ll leave anytime you say draws.

  30. jaybirdms Says:

“Not trying to put anyone down.”

LOL, JB. That was a good one.

  31. rebelnate Says:

Hey it’s that hypocrite bird again.

  32. jaybirdms Says:

Didn’t you mention a few weeks ago that you were ready to quit being an OM fan, nate.

I know who the hypocrite is.

  33. rebelnate Says:

We all get a little frustraded now and again.

  34. jaybirdms Says:

We can get you an award, if you want one.

  35. rebelnate Says:

Ya’ll feel that way about me all the time so the award is not neccasary I know how you feel.

  36. Braves Dawg Says:

About two years worth of frustration huh?

  37. rebelnate Says:

More than that where you been about 5

  38. Braves Dawg Says:

    Reading is fundamental.

  39. rebelnate Says:

    I agree.

  40. Gregg Ellis Says:

Thanks for the concern, nate. But note my numbers are not hurt. I had a record 135,000 hits last month. Perhaps not as many comments, but the numbers are nearly doubled.

  41. rebelnate Says:

Oh my bad GG. Keep up the good work.

  42. rebelnate Says:

I think it is well documented that I am an idiot.

  43. rebelnate Says:

If that many people bought the paper.

  44. bigdraws Says:

I for one get the paper delivered to my house. And GG, your doing a great job. Keep it up.

  45. rebelnate Says:

It is a great paper. The coverage of Mississippi State athletics is far better than the others.
