Looking at the weekend

by

Mississippi State travels to Alabama for a three-game slate that begins today.

And considering the Bulldogs are just three games out of second place, it’s a critical series. There is still a shot at Hoover, but MSU has to start winning series or the window of opportunity will be shut.

As for me, I won’t be traveling to Tuscaloosa. I’m taking the weekend off (slacker, I know) and will be in Tennessee for some soccer. I’ll check back in on Sunday night.

Have a great weekend and try to stay out of trouble.

be careful GG, if you have the chance, stop in Germantown, Tn and eat at The Commissary, an excellent BBQ place

  2. bigdraws Says:

Ima, I’ve heard of that place. Is it casual or what? Not a big fan of rednezvous.

  3. warbirdz44 Says:

GG, no write up on the Softball team’s 13-0 1-hitter loss to team USA? 😀

  4. imabulldog Says:

its like as laid back as you can get. Kind of a small place, but incedible. Make their own BBQ chips. Its as close to little Dooey and Dreamland as I’ve been able to find. Everyone hear talks bout Rondevouz but I think they suck!

  5. bigdraws Says:

I’m sorry, but so do dooey’s and dreamland. Dreamlands bbq sammiches are ok, but there ribs are too dry. Dooey’s tastes like they’ve got oil mixed in with it.

  6. theconquistador2 Says:

Little Dooey’s doesn’t even make the best BBQ sandwich in Starkville. Petty’s makes a better sandwich.

  7. imabulldog Says:

that’s true, pettys is good. At the dooey I get the pulled pork, fried eggplant, and waffle fries- I miss it.

I’ll tell you a great place is Jim & Nicks. Great ribs there too

  8. bleedmaroon Says:

Jim & Nicks is the best bbq around.

  9. bigdraws Says:

    Jim & Nicks???

  10. imabulldog Says:

out of Birmingham Draws, they have sjirst that say “you can smell our butts from miles away!”

Great pulled pork, ribs are awesome, home cut fries, cheese corn bread muffins, everything good there.

We have one in Memphis, highly recommended

  11. imabulldog Says:

  12. bigdraws Says:

  15. judwe Says:

    Strong Rumor.

    Somethings up in Fayetteville?

    Patrick Beverly to… transfer?

    Damnation, no more Beverly Hillbillies!

Seems that people can’t HONOR their WORD anymore.

  16. bigdraws Says:

That’s what everybody gets for laughing.

  17. 2thdoc Says:

Can he find Starkville or do I need to go pick him up?

  18. methuselah1933 Says:

Starkville in dense jungle very hard to find

  19. nashdawg Says:

Anyone ever had Bar-B-Cutie in Nashville. Pretty good. There’s another one north of Nashville? It’s been a couple years since I’ve been there. Can’t recall the name.

    Score on the game tonight?

  20. bigdraws Says:

No game. double-header tomorrow. First pitch at 2pm.

  21. nashdawg Says:

Tks, draws…I am here at the hospital staying overnight with my dad. Hadn’t heard…

  22. 2thdoc Says:

nash, hope your dad is doing ok. You are in our prayers

  23. bigdraws Says:

You’re welcome nash. Wish yall well.

  24. nashdawg Says:

Tks, fellas. Dad had his 4th ischemic stroke on March 22nd. His 4th in about 3-1/2 years. Then 4 days later he experienced a large brain bleed from the top down through to the cortex. It was like a large funnel cloud. He’s in a swing-bed facility. Prayers are our only answer.

  25. judwe Says:

    You gottem’ Nash.

As far as BBQ goes. Out here in Texas there is a chain similar to Jim-n-nicks or famous dave’s… only better. It’s called Rudy’s Country Store. VERY laid back, roadhouse style. The closest one to me WAS Lubbock (3hrs) now one is opening in Amarillo… less than an hour away.

This brings me to my BBQ catch phrase… “Whenever the Lord opens a BBQ joint he closes a Colon”

Anyway, the best Q that I’ve had (and it is generally the consensus) is in the middle of nowhere Llano, TX. The place is called Cooper’s Pit and it is an epiphany.

How do you get drool out of the keyboard?

  26. bigdraws Says:

Jud, you gotta sop it up with a bisquit.

  27. judwe Says:

How do you get bisquit out of the keyboard

  28. cajundawg Says:

    anyone still on the board?

  29. nashdawg Says:

Still at hospital, can I get an update on any scores for the double-header?

  30. bigdraws Says:

10-4, Bama. Polk’s ejected. bases jammed. But we will fold. guarentee it.

  31. bigdraws Says:

    Wild pitch. 10-5. 2 outs. 2-2 pitch.

  32. bigdraws Says:

    Nash, come see us sometime.

    http://farley662.wordpress.com/

  33. bigdraws Says:

    Moore strikes out. AGAIN!!!

  34. bigdraws Says:

Going to bottom of the 6th. 10-5. Future head coach Tommy Raffo, is now showing us the way. Uggggghh.

  35. nashdawg Says:

Man, what’s up with Coach Polk? Mad at the world? I am a bit surprised that we are getting beat that badly. Tks 4 the update.

  36. nashdawg Says:

I posted that message then it came to me what Polk’s doing. From what draws posted… Raffo!

  37. bigdraws Says:

I think the first thing that has to happen is Russ Mcnichol needs to go. And that’s the thing. I don’t think Raffo has the balls to start doing that right off the bat. I’m just disgusted with this whole situation.

  38. cajundawg Says:

Disgusting is what it is… I have never been so embarassed to be a fan…

It looks like a high school team trying to play in the SEC… Sheesh! Our pitching is HORRIBLE!

  39. Jimmy Barbee Says:

cajundawg, don’t be/feel disgusted, better days ahead. Keep The Faith. My son and I have been faithful Saints fan since their first days, we never lost hope or felt disgusted; Rebel fans lifetime, thru ups and downs, never lost hope, never disgusted, so again just Keep The Faith.

  40. theconquistador2 Says:

We lost game one 21-7. This is pathetic, embarassing and inexcusable. Mississippi State baseball should be better than this. There is no excuse for being under .500 and getting beat the way we’re getting beat. Polk can pull the injury card all he wants, but when your pitchers can’t keep the opposing team in single digits scoring you can’t win. The pitching staff (McNickle included) needs to be re-evaluated. If Raffo gets the job he can’t keep McNickle. Our pitching as been absolutely horrible under is guidance. Also, Polk got ejected for the 4th time in the last 7 SEC games. Why doesn’t he just go ahead and hang em up?

  41. judwe Says:

four ejections in last 7 SEc games?

Now that’s putting the “ass” in “class”

  42. cajundawg Says:

Well… miracles never cease… State wins gm 2, splitting the DH and have Justin Pigott going tomorrow… but of course he hasn’t pitched in a month, rust could be a factor

The ejection thing is disturbing… has he ever been ejected 4 times in a year? 3 times in a series?

  43. nashdawg Says:

    Any update on today’s game?

  44. frozenchosen08 Says:

We lost 4-3. We left 14 runners on base.

  45. bigdraws Says:

Hope Dad’s having a better day Nash.
