Conspiracy theory? Really? Wow!

I just finished a segment on Bo Bounds radio show in Jackson where we talked about Ole Miss fans thinking Larry Templeton gave the Rebels’ baseball team the shaft by sending them to Miami?

Sorry, but I don’t see it. OK, Ole Miss fans. Please explain your reasoning. I’m not buying it at all.

And before you start pointing your finger and blaming everyone for being sent to such a tough regional, perhaps you should look at your team and look at the entire season. Just a suggestion.

And note, Ole Miss won just four series, and had Arkansas won two games against MSU in the regular-season finale, the Razorbacks would have been in Hoover. Not the Rebels. Let’s face it, Ole Miss went to Hoover to play its way into a regional.

A conspiracy? Really? Wow! Look out for the black helicopters.

  1. rebelnate Says:

If you play like a 3 seed all year you deserve a 3 seed. Ole Miss has hosted a regional 4 years in a row and the Larry Templeton was head of the commitee those years.

I don’t know what all the belly aching is about. You have to take care of business where ever you play so just take care of business and won’t matter.

  2. rebelnate Says:

Templeton did not screw Ole Miss. Ole Miss screwed Ole Miss.

  3. bigdraws Says:

I’m absolutly sick of hearing that. They barely got into the regionals and are complaining about going to Miami.

  4. Gregg Ellis Says:

Nate, I was thinking the same thing, but I wanted to hear an Ole Miss fan say that.

Now, I realize I just opened the flood gates with this post. However, it’s May and for me, baseball is over.

    Gotta discuss something.

  5. bigdraws Says:

GG, how’d the scallops turn out?

  6. rebelnate Says:

We need to realize that no matter what we do in the regular season Bianco is not a big game coach. Yes we have been to 3 out of the last 4 SEC title games but have lost 2 of those. He has hosted 2 Super Regionals and been to Arizona State for another and choked in all 3.

Some fans need to get off their high horse and come to the conclusion that this team is a good team but no where close to a national power that some of the fans think it is.

#2 ranked in the early season. Can you say OVER RATED…..OVER RATED

  7. theconquistador2 Says:

Let’s not forget that there was discussion before the SEC Tournament on whether or not Ole Miss was even going to get a bid. Like rebelnate said, they’ve hosted 4 regionals and 2 of 3 super regionals. But I guess LT is out to get them. I didn’t know he has the only vote. If anyone got the shaft it’s Miami. They are the #1 seed and may have the hardest regional.

  8. Gregg Ellis Says:

Draws, I owe you big time. Went to Kroger, got a 1/2 pound and grilled them out. I basically steamed them thanks to aluminum foil. They were fantastic. Great, great suggestion.

  9. bigdraws Says:

    And I thank you.

  10. bhamdawg Says:

I agree with conquistador, Miami has to be thinking… what the hell? They are the number 1 overall seed and get stuck with Ole Miss and Mizzou. Ole Miss was just fortunate to get in, they played well in the SEC tourney which got them in but they owe the Dogs a big thank you in taking 2 of 3 from Arkansas.

  11. boonevillereb Says:

Wow, double G is stirring a mighty big pot this morning! OK, some fans (no matter who they pull for) will ALWAYS find something to complain about. I am not one of those. The way I see it is, to be the best you have to beat the best. Why not play in this regional. “IF” the Rebels can win it, it will give a lot of confidence going into the next series. If Ole Miss were to have gone to a different regional the chances are pretty good that they would be paired against that regional winner anyway. Oh, and don’t forget about BC either. I say line ’em up and play some ball and lets see what happens.

  12. 2thdoc Says:

Ole Miss really put themselves in the debatable situation with or without LT. If they took care of business during the middle of the season the selection committee would not be discussing Ole Miss’s bracket but whether Ole Miss would be hosting alongside LSU and Georgia.

LT prolly didn’t lose sleep over it…just like I didn’t mind seeing Kentucky sent out to California in basketball. UK didn’t have much to complain about since they put themselves in the situation.

  13. moorebs Says:

Funny how it seems how the last few years that Ole Miss has been successful in baseball they are complaining about SOMETHING. I didn’t hear a lot of complaining from State fans last year when we went to FSU. We just went out there took care of business and one the regional.

Crazy how you have a little success for the first time in a sport and all of the sudden you think you are a national power or something. Sounds like they need to get over themselves.

  14. jaybirdms Says:

“Sounds like they need to get over themselves.”

    Preach on, brother.

  15. rebel1426 Says:

All that matters is that Ole Miss is playing baseball and Cow College is at home playing with their cows.

  16. thingreenline Says:

Wow, rebel1426. That was so clever of you. Did you think of that all by yourself?

  17. rebelnate Says:

rebel1426 that was not to cool or very funny………..just sayin

  18. bigdraws Says:

He was prolly one of the main ones complaining till he saw this thread and saw how ridiculous it all is. So he got mad and tried to take a jab.

  19. coastdawg Says:

If there is a conspiracy theory worth discussing how abut this….LT did not let OSU get a post-season bid so we can get a quick hire (or at least interview) with Casey!

  20. Braves Dawg Says:

rebel1426 will go blind playing with something on the Rebels way back home.

  21. moorebs Says:

my only response to rebel1426 about the “cow college staying at home” is one question…….How many quality starters did Ole Miss lose to the baseball draft last year?

  22. rebelnate Says:

    LMAO Braves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. rebelnate Says:

moorebs I can take that one if you don’t mind. I can think of about 4 quality starters

  24. Gregg Ellis Says:

rebel1246, that’s all you’ve got to say? I mean, really. I’m looking for a healthy debate and you spew that out of your mouth. LOL! Try again with your argument.

  25. bigdraws Says:

Rebs, If you believe LT had something to do with it, you can look at it this way. You had it coming after you ratted on us to the NCAA in football a few years ago. That was the most backhanded crap I’ve ever heard of. For crying out loud, you got a woman to sleep with an investigater.

  26. bhamdawg Says:

Yea I agree with gg rebel1246 that was pretty lame

  27. Braves Dawg Says:

Although Draws, if she was from Oxford, she may have passed him some warts too.

  28. rebel1426 Says:

Keep crying State fans. Everybody can look at our record and see that we got screwed.

  29. Gregg Ellis Says:

1426, no one here is crying. I’m just wanting you to explain how Ole Miss got screwed? Can you do that, or are you just going to moan about the situation?

  30. thingreenline Says:

Rebel, you are almost as much of a tampon as muthusela.

  31. rebel1426 Says:

No need to explain. I know we got screwed and that is all that matters.

  32. Braves Dawg Says:

The depth of your knowledge on this subject is astounding.

  33. Gregg Ellis Says:

OK 1426. Then don’t come over here talking smack if you can’t have an intelligent conversation. That’s pretty weak.

  34. theconquistador2 Says:

Got screwed? Let’s look at Ole Miss’ record.

Overall: 37-24 (34-22 before the SEC Tourney)
SEC: 15-15 (8th place a 1/2 game ahead of the 9th place team)
    Last 10 games: 5-5
Last 10 reg. season games: 5-5
    Last 5 SEC series: 1-4
    Current RPI: 40 (Boyds World)

Looks like they got what they deserved.

  35. bigdraws Says:

At least you don’t have sour grapes.

  36. jaybirdms Says:

    That’s baseball.

  37. everydawghashisday Says:

This is one thing that always bothers me about ole miss fans. They always complain about something and have excuses when things dont go their way. They didn’t live up to their expectations for the year, so it must be LT’s fault that they didnt get the bid they would have gotten if they had lived up to those expectations…. I dont think so. I think that conquistadors stats speak the true story

  38. thingreenline Says:

Only an Ole Miss would come over to a MSU thread – the team that helped them get in the SEC tourney – and talk crap about gettting screwed.

Shut the hell up Rebel1426. No soup for you!

  39. thingreenline Says:

    Ole Miss fan, that is

  40. rebelnate Says:

Gregg did ask for it thingreenline.

  41. thingreenline Says:

I guess he doesn’t have much faith in UM to be saying they got screwed before the first pitch has been thrown. Maybe they can man-up like State did last year and play throught it. But, I guess LT figured out a way for us to do that.

  42. rebelnate Says:

I doubt it I don’t think we could beat Bethune-Cookman this year.

  43. boonevillereb Says:

I do think that this is the toughest regional. If anyone got screwed it was Miami, not Ole Miss

  44. rebelnate Says:

I think if Ole Miss got hot and got out of these regional the super will be easier. We have had some weak regionals in Oxford the past few years it may do them some good to get some competition right off the bat.

  45. nabhi Says:

The remark of rebel1426 was simply “udder” nonsense. πŸ™‚
But seems that some other posters left him holding the bag.
Poor boy just did not have the pull. Coudll have learned that in dairy scince at MSU.
    Oh, well. “Teat for tat”.

By the way, GG, thanks for the mention in the Tupelo paper. Gotta point it out to my momma. Not quite “The Cover of the Rolling Stone,” but it is a place to start!

  48. bedgood Says:

I hope Templeton did do it intentionally!! Screw UM!! It is about time that he stop screwing MSU (likean opening game with LSU, or an opening game AT La Tech). I hope UM goes 2 and BBQ and never plays the tough Miami (UM will have to win to do that!!).

  49. jaybirdms Says:

    meth, u gud man.

  50. Gregg Ellis Says:

Nate, I didn’t ask for anything. You gave a respectful response, and thought out. I was just asking the same from 1426. Oh well. That’s baseball.

  51. rebelnate Says:

I meant you ask for a response from the Ole Miss fans.

  52. rebelnate Says:

He was getting mad because OM fans were here giving there response

  53. Gregg Ellis Says:

    Ah, gotcha.

You trying to be like me GG? Trying to piss people off on purpose?

  57. tcfan Says:

You asked for a logical response for Ole Miss fans, and one certainly didn’t do that (rebel1426) but I’m going to give you the stuff that most Ole Miss fans feel beefed about Templeton.

I’m an Ole Miss fan that at first thought it was a little fishy that Templeton said this the day before we were sent to Coral Gables about our chances of HOSTING (yes hosting) a regional:

“Now, the more they keep winning, the more they help their cause. A lot depends on what happens with other teams across the country.”

That statement had a lot of people thinking Sunday that if we were to win the SEC Championship, we would host as a 2 seed and if we were to lose, we would be travelling as a two seed.

One of the first questions Templeton was asked in the Selection Show on ESPN2 was how the Coral Gables Regional was so stacked and Templeton never really answered the question.

Rece Davis asks: “Now the Miami bracket is fraught with difficulty, you got Mississippi and Missouri in the same bracket, a lot of people are going to ask “Hey, how does the #1 overall seed get such a tough draw?”

Templeton: “Well I think if you look across the board at the #2’s and the #3’s in a lot of our brackets, uh, that looks probably strong because of the pitching of those teams in that tournament, but we got a lot of sites with a #2 and a #3, just terrific matchups and we spend a lot of time trying to decide who those #2 and #3’s were.”

Now, do I believe that it was ALL conspiracy and Templeton had a master-mind plan from the get-go and went after Ole Miss? No, I’m logical. Some things I DON’T understand though is how DALLAS BAPTIST gets a 2 seed over a team like Ole Miss, or how Oklahoma State isn’t a national seed. I do believe, however, if Templeton is put in a situation where he has to choose whether to give Ole Miss or another team in a better situation from a third party standpoint, his gut is to go with the other team. It’s just kind of odd for me to believe Templeton has us hosting by keep winning one day and then sends us off as a 3 seed against one of the top 2 seeds at the #1 team in the nation’s regional. Speaking of Miami, I also think Miami should have more beef w/ Templeton than Ole Miss does. How does THE BEST team in the country have the #17 Rivals ranked Mizzou team in their regional (possibly one of the best two seeds) and an Ole Miss team who just made it to the SEC final taking out 3 NCAA Tournament teams on their way (one being a national seed)?

Sorry for so long, but nobody here had really given a big answer as to why a lot of Ole Miss fans are so mad.

  58. bigdraws Says:

    Thanks, tcfan. 1:58am???

  59. Gregg Ellis Says:

tcfan, that’s what I was looking for. Well thought out. Thanks.

But let me say this about Dallas Baptist. Get past their name and look at who they have played and defeated. Their RPI is what it is for a reason.

  60. bigdraws Says:

split with Baylor, swept Memphis, beat Rice twice.

  61. db33 Says:

Personally, I HOPE that Larry shafted the Rebels. Ha! I did wonder how ARK got a 2-seed and OM got a 3-seed when ARK finished behind OM in the SEC standings. And, if Mizzou is #12 nationally, why aren’t they hosting a regional? I agree with Rece Davis. Who ought to be ticked is the Canes. And, MIZ who has a legit gripe that they should be hosting. OM 2 or 3, they are really where they should be.

  62. Gregg Ellis Says:

You know, at the end of the day, there really is no difference in a 2 or 3 seed. Kinda like basketball with 8-9 seeds.

  63. moorebs Says:

Bottom line: If you aren’t where you should be then your team will prove it by going out and winning. If they lose, then hey, you probably weren’t going to go that far anyway.
