hokdog, you new? Draws, you been behaving? I got bored this afternoon after doing all of my chores and thought I would post something new for you all to ponder.
BTW, I think it’s very cool of you to visit the sick up in Memphis this week. Panties and I are trying to make sure we’re there on Saturday. Hate I’ll miss ya.
I think they’re about the same place. Talked to the man yesterday. He’s had a lot of support, and he could use some more. They’ve had about all they can take.
The board, definitely. It will make it so much easier to see the replay of hits like the Jamar Chaney KO of Marshay Green, or DP3 splitting webels left and right for six…
Never have seen the pick six return in HD. That would’ve been nice too. Prolly wouldn’t have seen it anyhow. Was too busy high fiving complete strangers.
Cant really be compared if what the rumors swirling is true, that the money from the media rights package was for this upgrade.
But the endzone expansion needs to get rolling not far down the list with another winning season strung together, the general admission wont be sold out as season tickets, but the waiting list will only continue to get longer for butts in the seat in skyboxes and club level, the tickets that re-pay for the expansion. Still, you need the initial large donor to make it happen on the frontside.
Could this HD board take the place of the cow bell? My hat’s off to those State ME’s for coming a long way in ideas. Where did the EE come from that also contributed to this cause. Ole Miss!
New to the blog. Starting reading about a month ago. Impressed with your coverage of the Polk escapades, so I continued checking back on a daily basis.
GG, got an internship with a program in Meridian called Leadership Lauderdale Youth. Doing an evaluation of the program. Survey and then write report. Survey is wrapping up, will soon write my report. But it’s an 8 to 5. Long days, not enough time to play golf. But it’ll be good in the long run.
Very cook, hokdog91. Welcome aboard. Normally, I post several times a day, but I’m on vacation and I promised my wife I’d do my best to actually be on vacation. I almost made it, but gave in today.
the HD board…no brainer to me. I don’t want more seats till the ones we have are full all the time.
As for snacks…we just had a friend there. We tool snack bars, nuts, pringles (don’t get crushed in the can), PB and crackers. Some things we learned do not keep or travel well is fruit and chocolate!!!
DEFINITELY the HD board for now. Until we get something that remotely would be considered an exciting offense, you won’t see a packed house on a weekly basis. Fans need to be entertained. Punt fests just won’t cut it, not any more.
As far as the expansion, I think it needs to be done in the very near future. “If you build it they will come”. However, the current cost of gas and living expenses will likely hurt attendance. That being said, winning can do wonders.
Short term is the HD board, but the expansion needs to happen. GB has said there is a waiting list for high end tickets, bowl in the endzone and upgrade the middle to create more high dollar stuff.
definitely the HD board. We need to fill the seats we have before we bowl Scott Field – although a horseshoe would look better than the bleachers we have in the north endzone now.
that is cool looking, 2thdoc, but I just don’t think it’s needed. Right now, it’s OK for MSU to have a “hard ticket”. One sellout every three years doesn’t translate into expansion.
I know Gregg…I was just playing around last night on the computer. It would probably take a a few BCS games for State to even consider it, plus it would likely be on the other side I would think. I do believe that after these initial improvements to the chairbacks, any additions will include skyboxes and not just the high school bleachers that we have.
Cool pic, but I’m with Gregg, we need no expansion whatsoever. And, we don’t need more high end seating. What we need is something that will draw in Joe Bulldog, the $100 a year giver who has regular old bleacher seats.
And, to do that, in today’s football, you’ve got to be ENTERTAINING. Come on guys, as exciting of a finish as the Egg Bowl was, what I rememmber just as much was gaining 3 first downs thru 3 qtrs of the game. Sure, the last 8 min. were exciting, but I can’t count how many people got fed up and left when the score was 0-0!, or when OM made it 7-0. Croom & McCorvey have got to get us out of that bottom 10 on offense.
db33, you are just plain wrong. We need more boxes, they create revenue, and people don’t just go to football games to see offense. If that were true, Arena Football would unseat the NFL right away.
I’m not saying we don’t need everyone to be drawn in, no matter how big or small their donations, but offense doesn’t do it. Winning does it. Look at the last two games of the year: we were winning and there was something on the line, the place was packed both times.
Winning cures all.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 31 Ole Miss Rebels were named to the 2008 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, as announced Tuesday by league Commissioner Mike Slive. Ole Miss concludes the 2007-08 season with 148 student-athletes receiving Honor Roll distinction from the conference.
JB, I’ll refrain from posting this response on PA’s board. dem webels cud git upset.
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State placed 40 first-year student-athletes on the 2008 Southeastern Conference Freshman Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Tuesday.
Before cutbacks, LSU used too. Believe it or not, MSU now ranks at the top Auburn is a close second, followed by Ole Miss, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida,LSU, South Carolina, Georgia and Vanderbilt.
I like Arkansas too, but it’s odd in that they serve their mascot: Bar-b-q. Odd.
I agree with all you who said the scoreboard was more important. Its way behind other schools today, and its too small.
Also we can’t even fill up our stadium as it is. A couple of years in a row of winning will change that though, then we can bowl it in.
I think its better to have the scoreboard where it’ll be now, so when the team runs out before the game- their intro is right above them. This will definitely add to the atmosphere
It will always be packed for OM & ALA, always unless we are 3 TD underdogs. I’m telling you that people left the OM game even though it was tight due to our total lack of offense. It was BORING. I watched them file out. Only a diehard could sit thru it.
There are countless examples, Mumme & UK, Leach & TT, Rodriquez & WVU to name 3, of how changing to a wide open EXCITING, UNPREDICTABLE, EXPLOSIVE, scheme caused a dramatic increase in BUTTS IN SEATS. Which in turn brings more $$, and then eventually, stadium expansion. It’s a domino effect.
Winning is what’s most important, no doubt. But, a team that wins in a boring fashion will never outdraw one that wins with exciting offense.
Those guys WON. That drew fans. When Mumme quit winning, people quit coming, no matter what scheme they were running.
Of the teams that always, always sell out in this conference, there is only one that runs a wide-open offense: Florida. Every other team, LSU, Bama, UGA, etc, wins on defense and that is how they put people in the seats.
Just win baby!

HD board. We can’t fill the seats we have right now.
July 7, 2008 at 3:35 pm |
definatly HD board. I agree with hokdog.

What time is dinner? That sounds pretty darn good.

I know how much visitors mean in times like that. I just gotta figure out where the hospital is. I only know of St. Jude’s.

Probably HD board. It will be useful entertainment to the State fans during this uncoming losing football season.
July 7, 2008 at 3:50 pm |
I’ll find out for sure if you’d like. My wife had a sister who spent a lot of time up there. Until her final days unfortunatly, RIP.

I just did a mapquest. I didn’t realize it was downtown, too. I’m tyring to think of something to take for Farley to snack on. Any ideas?
July 7, 2008 at 3:55 pm |
Taco Bell, LOL jk. He’s quite picky about his food. He really likes mexican though. Just not taco bell.
July 7, 2008 at 4:01 pm |
LOL JB!! Nice.

The HD board is going to be amazing…and RIGHT NOW…it is the most important thing…BUT Davis Wade Needs to add more seats in the future!
July 8, 2008 at 9:33 am |
I’ll be honest. I do not see the need for expansion for at least 10 years.
July 8, 2008 at 9:41 am |
I agree Mr. Ellis…or longer…and thats ok…we can dream though
July 8, 2008 at 9:44 am |

post your expansion from sixpack on here. i couldnt see it there.

July 8, 2008 at 12:01 pm |

July 8, 2008 at 12:30 pm |
And that’s exactly what the seats will look like while playing Jacksonville St.

July 8, 2008 at 2:52 pm |
I”m in favor of a new press box. It’s in pretty bad shape and one of the worst in the league.
July 8, 2008 at 2:55 pm |
Nobody cares about the pressbox. Pipe down.
July 8, 2008 at 3:00 pm |
Aren’t you supposed to be off until next week, GG???
July 8, 2008 at 3:24 pm |
Florida has the BEST press box is the league!! It has table and chairs and 12 foot doorways!!! Just head and shoulders above the rest of the league.
July 8, 2008 at 3:30 pm |
But can you do a 360 in there? That’s what I want to know.
July 8, 2008 at 9:45 pm |

Yeah, but we cheated.
July 9, 2008 at 9:28 am |
No, we waited until OM announced their number of 31, then we announced a bigger number.
July 9, 2008 at 9:34 am |
LOL!! And those numbers were not as high quality as the 31 from OM somehow.
July 9, 2008 at 10:30 am |
LSU now holds the distinction of having the best press box.

July 14, 2008 at 7:01 pm |
If you build it, they will come; recruits and fans
big stadium = recruits
recruits = wins
wins = fans
