Today’s special guest . . .

You just never know who is going to show up at practice.

One day, it might be a former player. Or even a manager. The next day, it could be the likes of a Tonka or Champ, the school’s trusty, four-legged mascots.

Or it could be Ron Polk.

Whoa. Wait. What was that, you ask?

Yep. Ron Polk. Live and in person. Cigar and all.

The former baseball skipper made an appearance today while visiting from Birmingham. In case you haven’t heard, he’s now a volunteer assistant at UAB.

He said all is well in Birmingham, minus UAB’s facilities. But more importantly, they let him smoke.

Who knows, maybe Doc Foglesong will make a flyover tomorrow. Daffodils beware.

I’m sure the football team was stoked after seeing old Ron.

Lock the doors to Cohen’s office…prolly trying to get some recruiting tips from his former player and friend over lunch at the Golden Corral.
