Tickets, tickets and more tickets

Following Thursday’s practice inside the Palmeiro Center, which seems to have been used a lot so far, we learned that ticket sales are going through the roof.

Already, 35,282 season tickets have been sold, an impressive 12-percent increase from last year’s total of 31,600.

“With record student enrollment expected on our campus this fall, we may even exceed that expected number,” AD Greg Byrne wrote in a letter to fans.”We are seeing an increase in faculty/staff, discounted season, and full-price season tickets. In fact, our full-price season tickets sold total is more than 1,000 tickets higher than last year.”

As for the practice itself, the offense focused more on red zone work. Defensively, Sylvester Croom was pleased with how his unit played.

“The defense knocked a lot of balls away,” the fifth-year MSU coach said. “It looked like they were getting closer to game speed. Now, the offense needs to speed up and match that.”

Croom also reminded his team it’s game week beginning on Sunday night and that he expected a different look and focus from his players.

“I told them when I look in their eyes Monday, I want to see a look about playing a game. It’s not just about coming to practice, it’s about getting ready for a game. And it’s supposed to be different Right now we’re practicing;. Next week we’re getting ready to play a game. It’s hard to put that in words but you can see it in a guy’s face and the way he moves about. I expect to see that Monday.”

GG, tell Brett that he’s supposed to know that Josh Riddell transferred before going on the Comcast Sports show. Just kidding, the State preview was pretty good by you guys and it was nice that there were no zip up boots showing hairy ole man legs.

  2. thespear Says:

students can purchase tickets starting Monday!

  3. Gregg Ellis Says:

LOL, 2thdoc. Yeah, had to remind him on that one. I like Brett and doing the show with him. He’s a good guy.

  4. bamaman Says:

Wow. That’s pretty pathetic. Especially since the prices are EXTREMELY cheap. Has Croom tried getting Hudson’s Treasure Hunt to help move those tickets?

  5. bigdraws Says:

Anybody gonna take the bait from bamabitch?

  6. bamaman Says:

    Clearly one person did.

  7. BirdZ! Says:

Not me. I don’t even know what Hudson’s Treasure Hunt is. Must be a game for kids, or dumb rednecks living around a dead bear.

  8. bamaman Says:

The facts are what they are. For a major university playing D1 football its pretty sad. For me living in Starkville and hoping to increase my property value…pretty sad. Maybe you guys can kick it in and edge out Troy…and South Panola

  9. BirdZ! Says:

Season ticket sales have nothing to do with the value of your home. It also has nothing to do with the final score the last two years. And it will have nothing to do with the final score this year, no matter who wins.

  11. bigdraws Says:

And Lousianna Monroe? Just a question, how much do you pay for tickets to Alabama games?

  12. bamaman Says:

I guess all people from Alabama are Alabama fans.

  13. bamaman Says:

Also, Birdz… there is a big difference between a 30k draw in a community 7 times a year and 80-90k. Big economic difference.

  14. bigdraws Says:

    I asked you a question.

  15. bamaman Says:

    How about Maine?

Also , my Skydog tickets are paid in full by AAA cash advantage and the title to my maroon and rust 1978 el camino

  16. bully4prez Says:

    (crickets chirping)

  17. BirdZ! Says:

bamaman, granted, we don’t sell all of our seats as season tickets like bama does. Many folks by single game tickets and mini-packs. We get about 45k-50k at our games. We have a smaller enrollment and fewer alumni than U of A.

I see the economic difference for the city sales tax revenues. I don’t agree with your statement about improving property values. They are two different things.

  18. bamaman Says:

    And Maine ?

And my Skydog tickets are paid in full by AAA Cash Advantage and the title to my maroon and rust 1978 el camino

  19. bamamanreturns Says:

    And Maine ?

  20. glraisdinthsouth Says:

Hey bamaman. If you move your trailer to Alabama it won’t be worth anymore than it is in Starkville.

  21. bigdraws Says:

If he’d weed eat around all those junk cars it would help too.

  22. bamaman Says:

    And Maine ?

And my Skydog tickets are paid in full by AAA Cash Advantage and the title to my maroon and rust 1978 chevy el camino

  23. bamaman Says:

Thanks for banning me Greg. But I guess this is the MSU Homer board…a sanctuary from the inept reality of MSU Football

  24. bigdraws Says:

Never been to a game I’m assuming since you can’t answer me. Should’ve guessed it. Figured you would’ve at least lied and looked up prices on the bama board.

  25. 2thdoc Says:

You’ve got to be joking or just being a typical Bama fan that is mad about getting beat by State so much in almost every sport.

Surely you didn’t choose your home according to property values and how they are tied to football game attendance at a 55K seat stadium. Unless your last name is Einstein or Buffett I’m going to go out on a limb and say that “Football game attendance in small rural Mississippi college towns” is probably not a chapter in any Keys to Wealth Management textbook.

  26. bamamanreturns Says:

mmm….2thdoc…I don’t know if you’ve notice it or not but 80% of the economy of this state revolves around leisure activities…can you say Casinos. There is no way that increased attendance would be detrimental to the community…also, there is quite a lucrative trailer market in Starkville

  27. 2thdoc Says:

Who said it’s detrimental? I’m just wondering why you chose to live there instead of Knoxville if you want economic stimulus on Saturdays to raise your house value.

  28. bamamanreturns Says:

Or in the marshes outside the Meadowlands in NJ…ok, so we have established that Bulldog homers are NOT for increased attendance at Bulldog football games, alright well that would make a lot of things make sense, such as why you can’t see over the person in front of you in the lower deck and you get vertigo if you stand up in the upper deck.

  29. goldendawg Says:

Of course, if you went to the bama/state game last year, there wasn’t a lot for you to see anyway. Just one more lost game for Bama.

  30. Braves Dawg Says:

take off the houndstooth crown of thorns and repeat after me, the bear is dead, the bear is dead.

  31. 2thdoc Says:

Why did you chose to live in Starkville…or better yet what’s your point? Are you a stadium architect or just trying to make fun of a team that Bama can’t beat except in attendance?

For a moment I thought you were serious but obviously just someone posting in disquise.

  32. meridiandog Says:

AbmaBoy – Where do you live in Starkville? I’m looking to buy and would maybe take your trailer off your hands. I know you are dieing over here and would sell your left T#@%^cle to move back to T town where you can scavenge a ticket out of the fence by the gate when the Tide is losing.

I do appreciate your coming by to razz us.

Sorry you are unhappy over here. If I was, I’d get the hell out and move somewhere I could be happy. For me, it wouldn’t be T-Town. Id rather live down in Auburn than that hole in creation. (And I can’t stand the Tubbster).

  33. skoal bandit Says:

  46. rwriffe Says:

I am just getting back home from the nationwide race here in bristol and logged on to where this bama idiot was running his mouth and I couldn’t not respond to his comment about he guesses all people from Alabama are Alabama fans. Well, I was born in t town and raised in Miss and live in tenn. My loyalty always has and always will be with the dogs. At one time I might could have at least liked bama when they were playing anyone else but state. however, it’s bama fans like you that absolutely have made me a bama hater. You people just can’t accept the fact that you are a mediocre program in todays college football world. The bear is dead. Get over it.

  47. bigdraws Says:

How was the race rwriffe? I’m going to bristol next spring and can’t wait.

  48. rwriffe Says:

It was a great race. I’ve been so much over the years that I don’t normally go to the nationwide race. I wait and go to the sprint cup race on Saturday. However, we have some friends in from Amory to go and we wanted them to get the full effect of the bristol night race weekend. They are big Dale Jr fans and the fact that Dale’s team (driver brad Kezolowsk) won the race was a big plus for them. It reminded me that in a lot of cases that race is sometimes a better race than the big boys on Saturday night. You should have a great time in the spring.

  49. bigdraws Says:

Im an 88 fan too. He’s had a run of bad luck lately though (starting 40th tonight). My dad and I used to go to Talladega every year, and camp out on the infield. Been to Atlanta once too. Nothing like a NASCAR weekend.

  50. Gregg Ellis Says:

Well, I see we have diverse sports fans.
