Good Monday Morning

by

Maybe Mondays aren’t so good for you, especially if you had a rough weekend. Especially if, say, your favorite collegiate football program lost a 3-2 decision to a league rival.

Monday is a little better for MSU defensive tackle Jessie Bowman, who was named the SEC’s defensive lineman of the week. Bowman had career highs with eight tackles and 3.5 TFL, and he forced a fumble in the fourth quarter. Nice job, Jessie.

Of the odd final score, the SEC says: “In research done by the SEC office, there have only been six games in NCAA (Division I-A) history that have finished with a 3-2 score.  There have been none in SEC vs. SEC play.  The latest before Saturday night’s Auburn-Mississippi State game was a 3-2 win by Clemson over Duke on Oct. 16, 1965 in Durham, N.C.”

At least State was a part of history.

I was about five minutes late joining the Paul Johnson teleconference yesterday. Didn’t get much, but it was fun to hear the Georgia Tech coach rip on the TV guys, who criticized him for going for a two-point conversion in his team’s loss to Virginia Tech. The Yellow Jackets converted it to tie the game 17-17 with 9:28 to go in the fourth quarter.

“Those guys who do the game, they’re morons,” Johnson said. “They were questioning going for two, what good does it do you? I don’t worry about what they say.”

By the way, whoever came up with the Wxxdy McCxrvey thing: genius. That man’s seat is burning up, though I do wonder if the heat is coming from anywhere besides the fan base.

Well from a comment I read a couple of weeks ago, I heard CC was very clear on what he felt the O should look like, along with the game plan, and play calling…Sp from that maybe that means that CC is a little more outspoken behind closed doors. So I think Wxxdy gets some pressure from him, But not enough.

CC needs to call his offense. Perfect example, look at Notre Dame, finally starting to have an O, now that Weiss is calling his own O.

    I’m still pissed.

Greg Byrne needs to step in and do something if Crxxm doesn’t!

Here’s a quote that I found on Rivals.

“I never really felt threatened last night of losing that ball game once we got ahead 3-0,” Tuberville said Sunday.

  5. msu21 Says:

And Tuberville is 110% correct! Thats why we need the Tyler Russell’s, Chad Bumphis’s, and Pat Patterson’s of the world to come in and fix this!!

I never thought we had a chance to win game after we fell behind 3-0.

msu21, patterson has decommitted ….http://mississippistate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=850497 ….and bumphis is a very long shot now…http://mississippistate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=850507…look for this class to jump ship early after we start 1-4….
patterson said “Mississippi State isn’t throwing the ball around enough for me.” “Southern Miss, Alabama and Ole Miss are throwing it,” Patterson said. “I talked to Ole Miss two times. They’re just telling me I have a chance to come in and start and play early. They have a pretty good chance. Alabama is recruiting me hard. I like how they throw the ball around.”

this says it all….look for more to join him…

I felt we could win – felt either defense was going to break one or give state a good opportunity for which they did – Auburn 18 yard line.

I’ve had a few Ole Miss fans at work ask ke with 2 mins plus a few seconds left on the clock whey we did not run it – (ball control) – north/south runs – got all the yardage we could have gotten out of it and went for field goal.

Answer: I do nto know call Wxxdy.

And yes, our 4-15 was like there 4-1, but if it worked (miracle) it would have been a great call….

Do hope Ga Tech game is televised here – see how our guys line up – it will be another good test for our defense.
