MSU-LSU: Predictions Thread

OK, the line on this game, at last check, is 24 points. A night game at LSU on television – it could turn ugly, and fast.

But I do believe, in some lonely corner of my mind, that if the Bulldogs survive the first quarter, they can actually beat the spread and turn in a respectable showing. It’s going to depend on which defense we see: the one that kept Auburn out of the end zone, or the one that got trampled for 500 yards by Georgia Tech. And it’s going to depend on somebody on offense being a playmaker. Brandon McRae is the closest MSU has to one right now, but he hasn’t scored the last two games.

I say the oddsmakers are dead on. Prediction: LSU 34, MSU 10.

well, at least we have more letters in our name.

  6. BirdZ! Says:

BL, you are too kind with your prediction. I would be a happy camper if that’s the final score.

    LSU 52
    MSU 0

With the LSU band putting up 21 of those points.

  7. desertdog2005 Says:

    LSU 38
    MSU 7

  8. maroon1white Says:

Their already looking past us, their tailback basically said it in an interview. I think they play lazy & we play decent.

    MSU 17
    LSU 28

  9. ibdawg47 Says:

    LSU 48
    MSU 0

After the first LSU TD the Dawgs will lay dowm

  10. darkcooger Says:

I disagree ibdawg47. Our defense will probably stay in the game. If the offense can produce, I think the defense will stay strong the whole game. If not, the defense will probably only last the first half. However, I do not disagree with the general consensus. I’d be happy to see points on the board for our Dawgs.

Thought I’d be bitter about it, I think the score that would amuse me most would be 4-3.

  11. gomsudawgs1977 Says:

The dawgs somehow stay in the game with Auburn every year, but not LSU. For the past few years they have really handed it to us.
    LSU- 45
    State- 7

  12. theconquistador2 Says:

Well our offense has only scored 3 touchdowns in it’s 3 D-1 games and there is nothing to make me believe that we’ll buck the trend in Baton Rouge.

    LSU: 41
    MSU: 3

  13. bigdraws Says:

    52-6 Tigers.

  14. biloxi13 Says:

    48 – 0 Tigahs

  15. RoastBeef1 Says:

I love how some guys are predicting MSU to score more than 10 points against LSU. They couldn’t even do that against Auburn or Georgia Tech. 31-3 LSU

  16. lollipopkid Says:

45-0 LSU, and they probably shut it down in the 4th.

  17. bhamdawg Says:

If we cant score on Georgia Tech or Auburn I highly doubt we’ll do any scoring on LSU…. 48-3

  18. moorebs Says:

I want to know what some of you guys have seen over the last couple of weeks that makes you think we are capable of kicking a field goal? Its either touchdown or goose egg for us. I say the defense scores one in garbage time this week.

    MSU- 7
    LSU – whatever they want

  19. dawgface52 Says:

    42-3 LSU

  20. nashdawg Says:

I like moorebs prediction, excluding the 7 for MSU. Offensively, State will not score a single point against the defense of LSU. There are no offensive plays yet called this year to generate any creditable outlook for this game, against the defending National Champions. Are you kiddin’ me?

LSU – all night long, State – 0

  21. theconquistador2 Says:

You make a good point about the kicking game. I want to retract my previous prediction and go with a new one.

    LSU: 41
    MSU: 6 (missed extra point)

  22. bleedmaroon Says:

I agree. no offense so far from the dawgs.

    State – 0

  23. msudawginbama Says:

i heard on the radio that LSU had won 12 of the last 13 in this series, or something to that effect… i was at the game last time state won. 17-16 in 1999… wow.
Andrew Hatch has a busted noggin & Jarrett Lee still didnt impress me last week. D really needs to stay on task with the mental ward escapee Miles calling the plays for LSU and not fall for the trick plays.
Not gonna predict a score… i wanna save some diginity…

  24. bedgood Says:

lsu – 28, MSU 23. LSU runs conservative plays and score enough to stay ahead and not show anything to Florida, which makes our defense look good and the State faithful have hope that our defense is all of a sudden good again and Ga. Tech (the only offense that didn’t care who they were playing the next week) was a fluke. Tech game was no fluke, that is exactly how good we are, on defense and offense. LSU defense starters don’t play second half, State scores all points in last quarter, no one there to see, even ESPN is gone.

lsu- -54, MSU 28. State offense throws 2 interceptions returned for TD’s in first 3 minutes, defense is down before they get on the field. Long night on national TV. ESPN backs out of up coming TV deal, just like wide receiver from Macon. State also scores all points in last quarter.

  25. imabulldog Says:

one ugly game…like the Auby game.

    LSU- 28

LSU pores it on early, State gets it together in the 2nd half, breaks our hearts by falling short again.

Dogs use the very facts that they have hung with 2 great teams and came up short, as means of motivation and finish the year stronger and better then we thought they would

  26. imabulldog Says:

Now I’m bracing myself for the flood of hate and lack of confidence that’s headed towards the bullseye on my back

  27. deaddawg1 Says:

  28. bhamdawg Says:

Hell I would bet on them kicking a field goal before I would them scoring a touchdown.

  29. Jimmy Barbee Says:

    Miss State 14 LSU 7

  30. moorebs Says:

Bhamdawg if you notice i said the defense would score the touchdown. I don’t think the offense will score jack

  31. moorebs Says:

Damn Barbee even has us winning….now I know he is smokin crack

  32. ericintupelo Says:

Depends on which State team shows up but I’m not very optimistic.
    LSU- A whole lot
    MSU- Very little

But I will watch and cheer the whole game. Sat thru all the other blowouts and didn’t quit watching even though I wanted to.

  33. Jimmy Barbee Says:

moorebs, not smoking, just hoping. Weekend for upsets.

  34. carwwest Says:

    LSU 49
    crxxm 7

i dont know anymore….it gets harder and harder each game….i mean it looks like we get worse every game so this is what im basing this on….i just hope i can tolerate watching it into the second quarter, i.e. i hope it doesnt get out of control before then….

  35. spaceghost1 Says:

How can anyone expect us to score 10 points with our offense?
    LSU 51
    MSU 0

  36. thingreenline Says:

JB, is that John McCant in a cowboy hat?

  37. fan4croom Says:

    MSU 21
    LSU- 18

  38. jwbreb Says:

    tgl a great warrior.

  39. thingreenline Says:

Maybe so, but do you want a “great warrior” with a bad temper and poor judgement, who doesn’t know crap about the economy, to run the shop for the next four years?

I think he showed yesterday how desperate, and sad, he really is……

  40. thingreenline Says:

It not like he’s gonna be running through the jungle with a sword cutting the heads off of terrorists and greedy Wall Street brokers

  41. goldendawg Says:

    I don’t want a know-nothing with no substance and bad judgment either…
Obama is kind of like Croom. He’s likable as a person, but doesn’t have the wisdom or ability to run a football program or a coach. Our Croom experiment failed, let’s not try it with a position that really matters.

  42. goldendawg Says:

“or a coach” should read “or a country” in the previous post

  43. imabulldog Says:

TGL, chill with the politics, this happens all the time. And about 98.3% of us could less about Obama

  44. imabulldog Says:

I meant could care less about Obama

  45. dadawg Says:

Is tgl the new Farley? Spoils of war. huh?

  46. thingreenline Says:

    Good lord, I hope not.
You won’t see me cry like a baby and hide out under the conceilment of a private site. That would be gay.

  47. thingreenline Says:

I was just bustin’ JB’s balls

  48. imabulldog Says:

how bout those Beavers! 21-0 baby!

USC is the, sorry ‘was’ the best team in the country 😉

  49. imabulldog Says:

    See guys, it can happen…:)

  50. oxfordrebel Says:

  51. mathistondawg Says:

I will go with LSU 59-0. Why? Because an unranked team scored 38 on us last week. After USC lost tonight – LSU knows they need to score a ton on us (being rated so lowly) to move forward in the polls. Georgia has Bama, the Okies run up the score without trying, and the Gators are favored by the same margin over the Mascotless wonders to the north.

Our defense is good, however will wear down due to time on the field. I predict LSU will not punt in the first half. LSU will not come in planning on being conservative like Auburn. They have a great deal at stake here. They have something to prove – if they want a chance at the title.

  52. bikerdawg Says:

    LSU – 56

    MSU – 0

Miles puts 2nd string in after first series in 2nd half.

  53. dawgx Says:

    LSU 41
    MSU 3

Defense stays on the field all night…Pegues kicks a field goal after a INT return to the 5.

Mathistondawg…I grew up in Mathiston. 20+ years there. EWHS and Jonathan Banks could beat MSU right now.

  54. mathistondawg Says:

I agree – I am very proud of the EW Wolverines. Banks will be at MSU next year, I hope they give him a shot at QB because he has a great arm, and makes very smart decisions.

    Until then, GO WOLVERINES!!!
