So we get to see what Tyson Lee is made of. What a place to get your first college start. Of course, I imagine all three QBs will see action, so I’m interested to see how the rotation is handled – if it’s already mapped out, or if it’ll be a play-it-by-ear thing.
LSU won the coin toss and deferred, so MSU will receive. Remember, this game is on ESPN2. Game on.
September 27, 2008 at 6:37 pm |
Great start
September 27, 2008 at 6:39 pm |
Well we’re winning. Most people didn’t think that would ever happen
September 27, 2008 at 6:39 pm |
Surprise #1: We scored!
Surprise #2: We’re winning!
September 27, 2008 at 6:40 pm |
There you go, 3-0. Too bad the Bulldogs couldn’t get more out of that, but hey, it’s a start. Lee was in the gun every snap; wonder if they’ll keep that up.
September 27, 2008 at 6:42 pm |
Gonna have a battle of the Lees at QB.
September 27, 2008 at 6:42 pm |
LSU has a powerful back
September 27, 2008 at 6:44 pm |
Big third down. Need to hold them to a field goal
September 27, 2008 at 6:46 pm |
And we’re tied. Good start for the defense. Can they keep it up?
September 27, 2008 at 6:47 pm |
If the offense can settle in and buy the defense some rest time, we should be able to keep the score manageable. Ideally, of course, the offense would put points on the board, but let’s start simple.
September 27, 2008 at 6:47 pm |
I wonder how our offense will start out on the next drive. Didn’t run on the first drive
September 27, 2008 at 6:49 pm |
Smart check down by Lee
September 27, 2008 at 6:58 pm |
Scott is a beast. It’s gonna be tough
September 27, 2008 at 7:09 pm |
Man I hope the D can hang on for this…
September 27, 2008 at 7:09 pm |
Had them 2nd and 30 and they just score anyway.
September 27, 2008 at 7:11 pm |
Very impressive drive by LSU. They could hand it to Charles Scott all day. The Tigers covered 88 yards in 15 plays, took 7:17 off the clock. Too many holes in MSU’s pass coverage.
September 27, 2008 at 7:13 pm |
looked like a facemask
September 27, 2008 at 7:15 pm |
Need to really rotate dixon and elliot to keep fresh legs. They are too deep for us.
September 27, 2008 at 7:16 pm |
End of first quarter: LSU 10, MSU 3. My thoughts:
• Only two full drives for MSU, one first down. Gotta show they can move the ball. I like Lee’s mobility, it’s kept some plays alive.
• Charles Scott is indeed, as eric noted, a beast. And it helps to have that huge offensive line in front of him. They’ve blown open some huge holes.
• Want to see if Anthony Dixon will get more involved here. One carry for 6 yards, one catch for 3 yards.
September 27, 2008 at 7:16 pm |
Screen passes would help. That play to Stallworth early on got a good chunk of yardage for us
September 27, 2008 at 7:21 pm |
Saw on pregame on ESPN news…they asked Bob Davie or whatever his name is “Is there any pressure on Croom” or is “He on the hotseat” and he responded no that the only pressure Croom is facing is from himself that he is hard on himself.
September 27, 2008 at 7:21 pm |
F U ref. What about the block in the back.
September 27, 2008 at 7:21 pm |
My thoughts: I hope I’m wrong, but I think if we play our best game, we’ll need 5 turnovers by LSwho and 2 defensive scores to win….
September 27, 2008 at 7:23 pm |
Ole Miss and Oregon St. did win this week though, so maybe an upset is abrew.
September 27, 2008 at 7:24 pm |
Would be great pix and there’s a chance if we keep the score low. Alot of football left to play
September 27, 2008 at 7:25 pm |
First quarter stats:
• First downs: LSU 10, MSU 3
• Total yards: LSU 125, MSU 42
• Rushing yards: LSU 21, MSU 8
• Passing yards: LSU 104, MSU 34
• QB Tyson Lee: 4-6-0, 34 yards
• QB Jarrett Lee: 7-9-0, 104 yards
• RB Charles Scott: 8-29, 1 TD
September 27, 2008 at 7:25 pm |
lee still hasnt thrown a ball down field, only the one on the first drive….hope we can get a turnover though…..
September 27, 2008 at 7:26 pm |
We can’t defend the long pass. Auburn burned us everytime they went deep and so far LSU is doing the same. Don’t give up defense. Just don’t give up
September 27, 2008 at 7:28 pm |
Has Marcus Washington ever has a substantial play?
September 27, 2008 at 7:29 pm |
Bowser in my opinion is the weakest corner we have. He was recruited as a wideout and can’t cover. Washington ain’t doin too hot though
September 27, 2008 at 7:30 pm |
STOP EM DAWGS
ASSHOLES AND ELBOWS (as my old High School Def. Cord. said)
September 27, 2008 at 7:30 pm |
Neither he nor Tay Bowser. Anthony Johnson would have had that one for a pick 6
September 27, 2008 at 7:30 pm |
If we could hold them maybe we could gain some momentum. You know they’re gonna run right at them behind that huge line
September 27, 2008 at 7:31 pm |
Bama 17 Georgia 0 right now
September 27, 2008 at 7:32 pm |
Untouched. Watch the defenses body language if we don’t move the ball this drive. I hope they don’t pack it in
September 27, 2008 at 7:32 pm |
If anybody cares…
September 27, 2008 at 7:32 pm |
Wow, I don’t think Scott was even touched on that. That O-line is something else. 17-3 LSU. 8 plays, 61 yards, 4:07.
September 27, 2008 at 7:33 pm |
I picked Bama to win on my Streak for the Cash
September 27, 2008 at 7:35 pm |
Wow. What leadership a lilfe long “pothead”. Maybe we should have Willie Nelson come talk to our team before we play Vandy……..Never know
September 27, 2008 at 7:35 pm |
I was thinking Cheech
September 27, 2008 at 7:36 pm |
Vandy against Auburn will be interesting next week. Auburn has no offense
September 27, 2008 at 7:37 pm |
5′ 10″ showed there…
September 27, 2008 at 7:37 pm |
He is 2 short to throw with pressure. I am not doggin’ him but it is the truth.
September 27, 2008 at 7:38 pm |
Does anybody else get the feeling that our team has cashed it in?
September 27, 2008 at 7:40 pm |
If they haven’t yet they will after LSU scores on this posession.
September 27, 2008 at 7:41 pm |
Flutie was only 5’10”. He also had time to throw
September 27, 2008 at 7:41 pm |
HELL YEAH
September 27, 2008 at 7:41 pm |
There’s one of those turnovers
September 27, 2008 at 7:41 pm |
Pegues is still playing
September 27, 2008 at 7:41 pm |
Pegues definetly needs to be on TV on Sundays
September 27, 2008 at 7:42 pm |
INT. Too bad he couldn’t get it into field goal range because our offense can’t
September 27, 2008 at 7:42 pm |
Bama 24 Georgia 0, in the 2nd
September 27, 2008 at 7:43 pm |
Get his ass a booster seat.
September 27, 2008 at 7:43 pm |
I’m on the verge of changing channels. Our offense is hard to stomach.
September 27, 2008 at 7:44 pm |
Go back to Bama Croom
September 27, 2008 at 7:44 pm |
I think they’ll put Carroll in next drive and we make way too many dumb I mean dumb mistakes
September 27, 2008 at 7:45 pm |
What the hell was that?
September 27, 2008 at 7:45 pm |
I’m also on the verge of completely losing all hope in Croom’s coaching ability.
September 27, 2008 at 7:45 pm |
Why not go for it if that is all u can do. If our players can’t even line up then that is nothing but the coaches fault.
September 27, 2008 at 7:46 pm |
He can’t even put his damn hat on straight. Slouchy lookin’ mf.
September 27, 2008 at 7:46 pm |
I tried to hold on for the longest but I lost faith in Croom and his staff. The man tried to turn us around and he “cleaned up” our program but it’s time. I wonder if we got another OC would it make a difference
September 27, 2008 at 7:47 pm |
Another opportunity
September 27, 2008 at 7:47 pm |
Our defense is playing with way more heart than anyone could ever expect. Hats off to those guys.
September 27, 2008 at 7:47 pm |
There’s turnover #2…
September 27, 2008 at 7:48 pm |
It would do wonders for our confidence if we could go into halftime only down 7
September 27, 2008 at 7:48 pm |
Good for u Jessie Bowman. Starting for the 1st time and making the most of it. GO DAWGS.
September 27, 2008 at 7:48 pm |
hell yeah it would but we cant score!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
Just dumb as hell.
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
STUPID call!!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
That’s a Stupid play to kill momentum
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
Why do we have to get Fancy? Someone tell me.
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
thank you for not fumbling!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
Lee has some quickness when he scrambles.
September 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
HALLELUAH! LEE DIDN’T SLIDE BEFORE MAKING THE FIRST DOWN!
September 27, 2008 at 7:50 pm |
He is more worried about the lady than the game. J/K , just shows his character.
September 27, 2008 at 7:50 pm |
6 yards away…..COME ON!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:50 pm |
TOUCHDOWN!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:51 pm |
Wow! Offense!
September 27, 2008 at 7:51 pm |
Surprise #3: We got a touchdown!
September 27, 2008 at 7:52 pm |
GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:52 pm |
hell yeah!!!!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 7:53 pm |
Nice to see some blitz packages in this game
September 27, 2008 at 7:55 pm |
Atta boy Tim Bailey
September 27, 2008 at 7:55 pm |
Tim is a beast tonight
September 27, 2008 at 7:55 pm |
See what pressure does? We didn’t blitz much in the other games. I think the coaches might have actually watched some film. Auburn blitzed LSU with some success.
September 27, 2008 at 7:55 pm |
Bama just scored again
September 27, 2008 at 7:56 pm |
I hate them-Bama if you couldn’t tell
September 27, 2008 at 7:56 pm |
Wow. Running hard does pay off. Wouda thunk it?
September 27, 2008 at 7:56 pm |
LEts try to score. I don’t want to just run the clock out
September 27, 2008 at 7:57 pm |
Damn right.
September 27, 2008 at 7:57 pm |
I’m not a fan of Bama. Just giving an update
September 27, 2008 at 7:57 pm |
Does Croom know that u don’t carry over timeouts to the second half?
September 27, 2008 at 7:57 pm |
DAMN IT, CROOM!
September 27, 2008 at 7:58 pm |
We are the only SEC team that doesn’t try to score at the end of the 2nd half. We always just run the clock out
September 27, 2008 at 7:58 pm |
Sold play in the second quarter, good to build on
September 27, 2008 at 7:58 pm |
what the hell was that!?!?!?!?!?
September 27, 2008 at 7:58 pm |
WTF. AJSKDLFJASDKLFJADSKLFJADSKLFJADSK;LFJASK;LFJAS;LDKFJASK;LFJASK;LDFJ;LADSKFJ;ADSKLFJASK;LDFJASK;LDFJASK;LDFJADS;LFJK;LADSFJ;LADSKFJADSLKFJADSLKFJASDK;LFJAK;LDSFJLADSK;JF;LASKDJFKLADSJFASK;LDJFADSK;LJFADSK;LFJASDK;LFJD
September 27, 2008 at 7:58 pm |
31-0 Bama Wow
September 27, 2008 at 7:59 pm |
All I can say about the Bama and Georgia game is WOW.
September 27, 2008 at 8:00 pm |
Looks like the blackout is just a black eye instead
September 27, 2008 at 8:00 pm |
I say it every game, Croom does not have the guts to win a ball game. Every game he wants to go to the locker room at halftime with time on the clock. Les Miles or Urban Meyer would take the risk and hurl one to the end zone! 1:18 on the clock and we run it out rather than try to put the ball in field goal range. WE will never succeed with that approach to coaching
September 27, 2008 at 8:02 pm |
I say we should start docking Croom $10,000 for every second he leaves on the clock at halftime.
September 27, 2008 at 8:02 pm |
thank you spear, you said what everybody else was thinking….that was pathetic…doe she not know that LSU will make adjustments and come out pissed?!?!?!
September 27, 2008 at 8:03 pm |
I agree with you spear. Where have you been the whole game? Still waiting on 2th doc, ima, farley, etc.
September 27, 2008 at 8:08 pm |
you have to play and coach to WIN the game, not to “not to get your azz beat” in the game….
September 27, 2008 at 8:09 pm |
I’m here boys!
We got some momentum- need our line to play that way the rest of the game.
Need to put lee in shotgun more, elliot and AD look good.
If we get some better corner play, we could have a good one folks!
Lee made about 3 runs- Carroll couldn’t have made in his dreams
September 27, 2008 at 8:09 pm |
He doesn’t coach to win the game. He coaches to not lose which is bs. He just hopes and prays for mistakes instead of attacking
September 27, 2008 at 8:10 pm |
ok…I can never understand us not going for broke at the end f a half either. Heck, what can it hurt????
September 27, 2008 at 8:11 pm |
atleast we are not UGA…
Can’t think of the last time we could say that 🙂
September 27, 2008 at 8:12 pm |
what can it hurt? well…our feelings! croom ALWAYS does that to us!
September 27, 2008 at 8:12 pm |
Good to hear from you ima. Lee looked good in the gun and AD looks good between the tackles. I wish we could hit Elliott on a screen and see what he can do. If we can stop them on the first drive maybe our offense will respond and shut up Death Valley
September 27, 2008 at 8:14 pm |
On a few of the tipped passes at the line, we have had the tight end open in the flat. Maybe we can hit that pass in the 2nd half.
September 27, 2008 at 8:16 pm |
GO TO HELL OLE MISS (Florida win or not)
September 27, 2008 at 8:18 pm |
i’ll admit tyson has looked good but only because our line has looked good….but we have to get AD and elliott more involved, period!!!…
September 27, 2008 at 8:19 pm |
I second the motion CARWEST.
September 27, 2008 at 8:19 pm |
I really wish Marcus W., woulda picked off that pass- pick 6 on a platter.
Hope we can hold them here
September 27, 2008 at 8:21 pm |
Come on D. We gotta stop them
September 27, 2008 at 8:21 pm |
Why oh why do you give a team like LSU the ball at midfield from the kick off? Where is the logic there?
September 27, 2008 at 8:21 pm |
YOu can’t arm tackle him. No way
September 27, 2008 at 8:22 pm |
Must have drank too much water at half.
September 27, 2008 at 8:22 pm |
not saying anything against our team right now but their line is HUGE!!!
September 27, 2008 at 8:22 pm |
Maybe they will playaction and we can get a pick. We are on our heels
September 27, 2008 at 8:23 pm |
We might have implemented the “swiss cheese defensive scheme” at half
September 27, 2008 at 8:23 pm |
And the crowd says “Whewwwwwwwwwwwwww…….”
September 27, 2008 at 8:23 pm |
We are snake bit
September 27, 2008 at 8:24 pm |
Almost caught a break
September 27, 2008 at 8:24 pm |
Good play by Pegues again though.
September 27, 2008 at 8:24 pm |
Damn we could have had that
September 27, 2008 at 8:25 pm |
What are we reviewing?
September 27, 2008 at 8:25 pm |
Lucky SOB’s.
September 27, 2008 at 8:27 pm |
we should be happy this is still a game BUT we are playing pretty good right now…
September 27, 2008 at 8:28 pm |
We have to have a TD this drive. Punting is going put us out. We have to tit for tat.
September 27, 2008 at 8:28 pm |
We have made some plays on both sides of the ball but LSU has helped us
September 27, 2008 at 8:29 pm |
STUPID COACHING decision before half. Shows no confidence in team…therefore team will not grow in confidence. Lost momentum!
September 27, 2008 at 8:30 pm |
ditto wishbone….
September 27, 2008 at 8:32 pm |
How many passes now that were 15 yards ahead of the receiver?
September 27, 2008 at 8:32 pm |
Looks like Tebow today
September 27, 2008 at 8:33 pm |
ok i dont know what is going on with the down field throws but lee hasnt thrown one in the extreme reach of a WR…
September 27, 2008 at 8:33 pm |
Yay, my internet connection is back, for now.
September 27, 2008 at 8:33 pm |
Way to go Croom, ruin our momentum before half!
September 27, 2008 at 8:34 pm |
ok first off, no body expected us to last this long but obviously we STILL dont have an offensive mind on the team…
September 27, 2008 at 8:34 pm |
What’s going on is he’s getting his A%% whacked by those 300 pounders as soon as he releases. He’s throwing scared.
September 27, 2008 at 8:35 pm |
If they score right here it’s more than likely over unless we can score. We need another turnover, stop, miracle, something
September 27, 2008 at 8:35 pm |
Maybe I have it backwards and the coaches are just hindering the players instead of not “leading the players”.
September 27, 2008 at 8:36 pm |
Wish Football was like baseball and the coach could get thrown out and the D.C. took over (obviously not the O.C)
September 27, 2008 at 8:37 pm |
Bill Curry has to rank as my least liked announcer of all time. I’d rather listen to paint harden.
September 27, 2008 at 8:37 pm |
i hear ya mississippibulldawg….
September 27, 2008 at 8:37 pm |
That is how a forward pass is thrown. Woody needs to oserve. Maybe he should take notes every game we play. He hasn’t learned anything in 5 years so it wouldn’t help
September 27, 2008 at 8:39 pm |
I have been a Croom supporter the whole time but this is ridiculous. When you take the game out of the players hand (end of the first half). He is basically telling them that he has no faith in them. My opinion is that we should tell him that we have no faith in him. Seems like everyone here feels the same.
September 27, 2008 at 8:39 pm |
ok that three tackles ive seen terrell johnson miss…apparently not a chaney or OLB…
September 27, 2008 at 8:40 pm |
crxxm still sucks..no doubt about that….
September 27, 2008 at 8:40 pm |
I still can’t shake not trying to score at the end of the first half. Pisses me off. Damn, I’m ready for a new coach.
September 27, 2008 at 8:43 pm |
Everyone should call the ‘callin show’ on Tuesday and tell Croom. Anyone know the number off the top of their head right now?
September 27, 2008 at 8:43 pm |
I’m in favor of a “no confidence” vote on the head coach.
September 27, 2008 at 8:44 pm |
As much as we would all like to see a change, I just don’t see them firing Croom. Maybe Byrne will flex his nuts though….I could be wrong
September 27, 2008 at 8:44 pm |
Just like Orgeron. Get good players but can’t do squat with them. But we aren’t like Ole Miss. We give em’ the money at the first sign of performance regardless of what they have done.
September 27, 2008 at 8:45 pm |
I’m not suggesting that coaching change will take place this season. Lobbying for the off season.
September 27, 2008 at 8:46 pm |
Maybe Mike Rowe could do a Dirtiest Jobs episode about being a MSU football fan…
This has to be one of the worst jobs in the world we have being State fans.
September 27, 2008 at 8:47 pm |
Hell we get at least 2 or 3 F.S. a game. Damn there are high school teams who don’t.
September 27, 2008 at 8:47 pm |
eric,
I agree. As bad as we all want it, it’s highly unlikely that Croom will get fired. That being said, if we finish 1-11 (which is very possible) all bets are off.
September 27, 2008 at 8:47 pm |
This year just doesn’t seem like it’s gonna be a good time to be a State fan. Football is down, Basketball will be a little down but could surprise some people, but I am interested to see what Cohen does with the baseball program.
September 27, 2008 at 8:48 pm |
Nice pass, excellent reception.
September 27, 2008 at 8:49 pm |
“Thought Carroll was the quarterback of the future” that’s such bull. He didn’t do anything special last year. Had one good game yardage wise against Arkansas and it wasn’t that good of a performance because he threw like 4 picks.
September 27, 2008 at 8:49 pm |
I do have to ask one question. Why do so many coaches (fb coaches) wear the black and white MSU hats on the side line? What happened to showing the colors , the true colors, maroon and white. Croom himself wears it a lot , black and white.
September 27, 2008 at 8:51 pm |
Run hard north south dixon or ducre
September 27, 2008 at 8:52 pm |
Now we call T.O. , that means we have 5 left.
September 27, 2008 at 8:53 pm |
Thats the first 4th down call that we didn’t lose yardage on
September 27, 2008 at 8:54 pm |
I heard the announcers on XM201 say that it was Ducre’s first TD of his career. What a shame! I beirve that Ducre is a better tailback than Dixon.
BTW, I was dead wrong in my prediction. State has actually scorerd and gained offensive 1st downs! OMG, miracles do happen!
September 27, 2008 at 8:54 pm |
Why is Ducre getting the ball so much? Isn’t he our loley #3 back?
September 27, 2008 at 8:55 pm |
Thought Ducre punched it in against Auburn last year. I’m pretty sure it was him last year
September 27, 2008 at 8:56 pm |
Am I the only one….Tired of just being glad we scored on someone or “didn’t get beat too bad”. Ole Miss went out and got a real winner coach. We went out and got a freakin’ professinal assistance and now we see why.
September 27, 2008 at 8:56 pm |
I will say Ducre runs harder between the tackles. He’s more of a north south runner but Dixon does both.
September 27, 2008 at 8:57 pm |
Ducre has scored before. My thoughts:
• LSU’s offense is making it look too easy. MSU is moving the ball, though, and frankly, Lee is doing better than I think Carroll would’ve done.
• Unfortunately, it’s too late for a rally. Expect a heavy dose of Scott when LSU has the ball.
September 27, 2008 at 8:58 pm |
Lee makes good decisions when he has time. Reminds me of watching him at ICC
September 27, 2008 at 8:59 pm |
Their winner coach also has the morals of an alley cat with his multiple affairs and lying to his own wife. While I can’t say anything against his coaching abilities, he is a loser at life
September 27, 2008 at 8:59 pm |
Great now Elliot is done.
September 27, 2008 at 8:59 pm |
Guess he won’t be doing anymore “Deion” dances.
September 27, 2008 at 8:59 pm |
Looks like he hyperextended that knee
September 27, 2008 at 9:00 pm |
Damn… hate to lose Elliott. Poor kid.
September 27, 2008 at 9:00 pm |
I can’t stand Les Miles but I also have a hatred for LSU like no other
September 27, 2008 at 9:02 pm |
Elliot runs with more strength than Dixon and he gives up 40 pounds. Fuck that damn stutter step.
September 27, 2008 at 9:02 pm |
Thought that was his first touchdown pass! Man that was close
September 27, 2008 at 9:02 pm |
The way Elliot’s foot was dragging the ground as they were taking him off the field, he may have broken his leg.
September 27, 2008 at 9:03 pm |
He is in damnit
September 27, 2008 at 9:03 pm |
For as big as Dixon is he runs soft sometimes. He likes to bounce it but he doesn’t have the speed
September 27, 2008 at 9:04 pm |
Let Tyson’s small ass sneak it in under the damn center
September 27, 2008 at 9:04 pm |
it was LSU announcers on the XM channel. I thought it was an odd stat 4 Ducre. Tks fellas. I traveling from TN.
September 27, 2008 at 9:04 pm |
Test of will? I thought he was just dumb as hell
September 27, 2008 at 9:05 pm |
Hell yeah!! Finally, a sustained drive ending in a TD!!!
September 27, 2008 at 9:05 pm |
Croom says we are “No # 1”
September 27, 2008 at 9:06 pm |
wxxdy and crxxm almost effed us on that one!!!..how hard is it to QB sneak!?!?!?!?
September 27, 2008 at 9:06 pm |
Agree, eric!!!
September 27, 2008 at 9:07 pm |
Well all jokes aside, our offense looked good right there. Is Felker making the calls ?
September 27, 2008 at 9:07 pm |
If we could get a stop and score quickly then we have ourselves a ballgame. I know there’s a slim chance but atleast there is a glimmer of hope. Watch them pound the ball and pick us apart with the short pass in the middle of the field though
September 27, 2008 at 9:09 pm |
go dawgs!!!
September 27, 2008 at 9:11 pm |
playcalling is not costing us this game but is not helping….
September 27, 2008 at 9:14 pm |
Come on Pegues. Lets get a good return
September 27, 2008 at 9:15 pm |
Hey, it could be Felker calling the gm. I emailed him this past wk and asked him if the coach who called last year’s UK gm could be found. I did not get a response from him, but I did get one from single-g Byrne!
September 27, 2008 at 9:16 pm |
I’d like to see a “wild bulldog” formation with Pegues at QB
September 27, 2008 at 9:16 pm |
Alright lets see what Woody calls on this drive. Does he call conservative plays or does he take some shots and give these boys a chance to win this ballgame. We can’t have another long time consuming drive. We just need to get in the endzone and try to get the ball back again.
September 27, 2008 at 9:17 pm |
Greg is always good at responding to people’s emails
September 27, 2008 at 9:18 pm |
I’m completely shocked that we ran up the gut on the first play
September 27, 2008 at 9:18 pm |
Lee has room when he gives it to the back. I wonder how much he could get on a keeper
September 27, 2008 at 9:18 pm |
i dont think we have that in our bag of tricks…
September 27, 2008 at 9:18 pm |
For a 3rd string nobody Ducre isn’t half bad.
September 27, 2008 at 9:19 pm |
And I spoke too soon
September 27, 2008 at 9:19 pm |
O my gosh!!! That was perfect placement
September 27, 2008 at 9:19 pm |
damn fine pass ducre dropped
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
CATCH THE FREAKING BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
half ass effort on that
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
That was 6 if he had caught that
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
Dang he coulda gone all the way against that LB too
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
Well Vanderbilt don’t feel bad about leaving a vacant spot at the bottom of the SEC. MSU is there to fill the hole.
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
ANYBODY could catch that!!!!!!!!!!!1
September 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm |
Lee threw it right in there and we blew it. I mean just blew it. I can’t say I’m shocked because that’s the life of being a State fan. There are times I wish I wasn’t such a huge State fan because of the constant heartbreak but I love these dogs no matter how bad things get.
September 27, 2008 at 9:22 pm |
Hell Vandy is competitive and they run a modern day offense too
September 27, 2008 at 9:23 pm |
Damn right, it is hard being a State fan.
September 27, 2008 at 9:24 pm |
Lets get a stop here.
September 27, 2008 at 9:24 pm |
Nail in the coffin
September 27, 2008 at 9:24 pm |
Damn it. Well you can wrap this one in Purple and Gold. Thanks Ducre
September 27, 2008 at 9:25 pm |
I’m gonna have to say we were at least competitive. Well now that was ugly, but I still think we were competitive.
September 27, 2008 at 9:25 pm |
Croom’s ass and W.MC. should be out Monday. That is what big time coaches do. They are aggressive. We just hope for the other team to save us.
September 27, 2008 at 9:25 pm |
How many times does Tay Bowser have to get spanked before they get him out of there? HE IS NOT A DB
September 27, 2008 at 9:25 pm |
Shocker that Bowser was the corner on that play. Why does he even play? He should just stick to special teams on field goal blocks
September 27, 2008 at 9:26 pm |
46 years as a state fan. Loyal to the bitter end. Maybe we can win next week. LOL
September 27, 2008 at 9:26 pm |
i hear ya eric….we suck but this is by far the best we have played and wxxdy and crxxm still f00ked us….didnt cost us the game but still VERY VERY TERRIBLE…..
September 27, 2008 at 9:27 pm |
Can’t lay it all on Ducre’s feet. That was just one mistake of many. Critical, yes, but it wasn’t the only one. He did a lot of good throughout the night.
I don’t think I will ever forgive Croom for just giving up before halftime. I’m sick of that crap!
September 27, 2008 at 9:27 pm |
yes and bowser is as good a DB as wxxdy is an OC…
September 27, 2008 at 9:28 pm |
I’m proud of the effort we put forth tonight. Well LSU won’t cover the spread
September 27, 2008 at 9:28 pm |
I am 24 years old and have been a State fan my entire life. I will never stop. NO MATTER WHAT. So consider that when I say that Croom should be let go RIGHT NOW in the season. Damn the money. We have donors who can drop that easy. He willl never let him go because they are friends and we all know it.
September 27, 2008 at 9:29 pm |
I don’t know fellas. I was touting Ducre earlier but his dropped pass was a gm changer!
September 27, 2008 at 9:29 pm |
Brad’s prediction was the closest I think. He said 34 to 10 and he was 7 points off. I’m getting ahead of myself. We could score again
September 27, 2008 at 9:31 pm |
The entire SEC is leaving us behind. We all talk about ARK. but hell they have a new coach. Croom has been here 5 years.
September 27, 2008 at 9:31 pm |
That was a huge drop but Ducre is human. He’s on scholarship to make those plays but….well Lee has some nice touch
September 27, 2008 at 9:31 pm |
Nice pass
September 27, 2008 at 9:31 pm |
finally…we get a call
September 27, 2008 at 9:32 pm |
time management sucks!!! Fire the coaching staff.
September 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
point is that players basically get “paid”. they get 4 years of free school at a very fine instiution. Look at what is cost to go to State for 4 year, tuition, dorm, food, etc. And figure the cost and they are basically gettin’ paid.
September 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
touchdown!!!
September 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
Ducre got back at ’em with that stiff arm
September 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
Congrats to Lee on his first passing touchdown and that shoud’ve been Ducre’s second touchdown reception
September 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
I was impressed by Lee tonight, Carroll should be riding pine for a while now. You guys played well too, no need to be ashamed of losing at Death Valley…
It ain’t over though, TD MSU w/ 2:40 to go, down by 10 again
September 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm |
Onside kick?
September 27, 2008 at 9:35 pm |
Classy on your part oxfordrebel. Congrats to yall today
September 27, 2008 at 9:35 pm |
this was a better coached game BUT STILL got out-coached…crxxm STILL sucks!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 9:35 pm |
will we try the onside kick???
September 27, 2008 at 9:36 pm |
Even the damn announcers are dogin’ us. Croom is a pussy. Go back to Bama us SOB . U love em’ so much. All he does is talk about em’.
September 27, 2008 at 9:36 pm |
dang….penalties
September 27, 2008 at 9:38 pm |
Two timeouts?
September 27, 2008 at 9:38 pm |
Take ur damn timeouts and eat them Croom, u fat bastard.
September 27, 2008 at 9:39 pm |
Doesn’t change the game (1st half) but shows the country how big of a puss that u are.
September 27, 2008 at 9:39 pm |
he is an efffffingggg pu$$$$$$$$$y…FFFFFFFFFFf…crxxm
September 27, 2008 at 9:41 pm |
He is too busy being a F___ING moving star “Say it Loud” than a damn coach. Fucking Barack O’Bama wanna be.
September 27, 2008 at 9:43 pm |
Oh well as we always say “maybe next week”
September 27, 2008 at 9:43 pm |
I don’t care who I offend but that is why we should have never tried to make a statement and hired a black coach. He had never proved himself. We should have hired the best coach we could find in instead a fuckn’ PR campaign.
September 27, 2008 at 9:44 pm |
These LSU announcers are just dumb-founded as why Lee hasn’t been year starter. What they don’t realize is that Coach Felker called the offensive plays tonight. He set up a gm plan where the short statued Lee stood back in the shot-gun all night long. After watching the offensive playing calling this season, tonight’s was a totally different gm plan…?
September 27, 2008 at 9:45 pm |
hey nash, how do you know Rocky called the plays? I hope that is true, i would be all for his promotion
September 27, 2008 at 9:47 pm |
ericintupelo, I have just been letting this game soak in… have not had too many chances too blog this semester. been doin a lot of studyin in starkville
September 27, 2008 at 9:50 pm |
This is the most I have blogged in a while. I feel you on the studying. Thats all I ever do but I check the site daily
September 27, 2008 at 9:57 pm |
like i said, play calling didnt lose the game but had no part in trying to win it…..
September 27, 2008 at 9:57 pm |
Spear, it never was confirmed that he would call the gm tonight, but it just seems pretty apparent that someone else besides Woody called this gm.
I have no firm answer though.
September 27, 2008 at 9:58 pm |
i believe you nash judging from what happened…
September 27, 2008 at 10:00 pm |
Woody was upstairs with a headset on. Lee played well and he can do damage when he has time to check his progressions and get his feet set. Boobie needs to quit trying to be a finese runner and use his large frame to his advantage. Boys played with alot of heart and we were in the game. Who knows what wouldve happened if Lee would’ve connected with Ducre on that pass? Story of being a State fan…..always having to wonder what if.
September 27, 2008 at 10:02 pm |
O and I still strongly believe we should clean house.
September 27, 2008 at 10:08 pm |
thank you eric, me toooooo!!!!!!!!!
September 27, 2008 at 10:12 pm |
Great moral victory for Croom State
September 27, 2008 at 10:14 pm |
f….crxxm state and bamamanretuns…they all suck balls
September 27, 2008 at 10:23 pm |

We actually converted some third down opportunities and our time of possession were about the same. We didn’t turn the ball over which is key and we almost had 300 yards of total offense.
September 27, 2008 at 10:27 pm |
The stats really aren’t that bad, except for the yards and the penalties. I’m fairly impressed with Lee. State definitely did a lot better tonight than I’d ever have guessed. I’d like to see the offense defy Croom the next time he decides to throw away a full minute before halftime, though.
September 27, 2008 at 10:29 pm |
What is the word on Elliot? I’m still upset about the end of the 1st half.
September 27, 2008 at 10:30 pm |
At least it looks like we’ve found ourselves a QB. Lee looked like a winner tonight. In fact, the players looked like winners tonight. But, Croom, sadly did not. End the first half with a field goal, instead of a surrender and we’ve got a real shot at a W.
September 27, 2008 at 10:42 pm |
Croom has no GUTS. He’s a play not to lose mentality coach and that fires NOBODY up.
I don’t care if LSU picks it and takes it to the house, you have some damn guts.
We’re a 1-3 team going into Baton Rouge, and he takes all 3 timeouts into the locker room.
I just can’t stand it. Then, still pissed about that, we get 1st & goal on the 1 foot line. Have we learned our lesson about handing the ball backwards? HELL NO, Dixon takes the handoff at the FIVE and has to break a tackle just to get back to the line of scrimmage. OK, surely on 2nd down, he’ll QB sneak it. Right? RIght? WRONG, FB dive, no gain. OK, it’s 3rd down, now or never, QB sneak! Nope, Dixon takes yet another deep handoff, slips out of a tackle in the backfield and worms his way in. SUCH STUPIDITY!!! If you are in that spot on the damn 1 foot line, 1st & goal, FOUR STRAIGHT QB SNEAKS. You lose no ground and will get it in one of those times. What if this had been 3rd & goal? We would’ve been stuffed.
Only bright spot I saw – Tyson Lee is 10 times better than Carroll. Unfortunately for him our tackles suck, especially Saulsberry. And, he’s saddled with Woody.
Thank goodness for the open date. I don’t think I could take any more mismanagement and poor decision making. I need a break before all the stupid decisions sure to come against Vandy.
September 27, 2008 at 10:47 pm |
We will never succeed in the SEC without taking chances. I’m saying we should have won this game, but you have to gamble when you are the underdog. The offsides by Dixon on the onside kick just shows the discipline this team has. Who’s fault is that?
September 27, 2008 at 10:47 pm |

September 27, 2008 at 10:52 pm |
That was another situation that leaves you wondering what if? Well Croom is not the coach we need to take our team to the next level and Greg Byrne should go ahead and get a list ready of possible replacements. Croom has had long enough and I respect the man but he just doesn’t get the job done.
September 27, 2008 at 10:53 pm |
I have had enough for one night. Talk to you guys again soon
September 27, 2008 at 10:53 pm |
I have to say, although we lost this game, I was rather happy with our effort against LSU. Lee looked pretty good at QB, and I’m sure he’ll only get more comfortable as the season goes on. Here’s to finishing the regular season 8-4! 🙂
September 27, 2008 at 11:00 pm |
Agreed, oxfordawg. There’s too much sloppy play, and that’s all on the coaches. I’m grateful for what Croom has done in getting things cleaned up off the field. That’s great and I hope any future coaches keep things clean, but we want more. They don’t give out awards for fewest players in prison.
September 27, 2008 at 11:01 pm |
my prediction was losing 28-24, in a game that we gain some momentum and confidence for the rest of the year.
Thought 2 plays coulda changed the game:
1. Ducre’s drop
2. Washington’s missed INT
– these plays woulda won it, and I’m sorry- gotta pat myself on the back for calling Lee our qb this whole week. The kid made plays- and I didn’t see one stupid throw.
Think this game will do wonders for our season, and BTW, LSU might be Nat’l Champs again
September 27, 2008 at 11:02 pm |
As I said earlier, this halftime stupidity happens every game(i think it cost us the tenn game last year) but probably isnt usually as obvious as it was tonight(plenty of time, a hyped offense, and timeouts in hand)… This whole blog is roaring about Croom’s “cut our losses” mentality.
BL, please be faithful to this blog and pose the question to Croom: Why does he never coach to win?
September 27, 2008 at 11:02 pm |
I too was proud of the effort of the players. Not proud of the coaching, not only the decisions during the game, but the preparation of the players. Two 15 yard penalties on punts and an offside on onside kick. Even high school players have this drilled into their heads.
September 27, 2008 at 11:06 pm |
and I said it last week, some of you need to chill out, if you would, show some balls and post how much $ you usually donate to State, and list how much $ you are now witholding due to wanting coaching changes- I’d love to see all of yall, put you $ where your mouth is.
Yall are doing nothing but hurting the program when you withold support.
Go Dawgs!!!
September 27, 2008 at 11:10 pm |
How much money would it take to buy crxxm a set of balls?
September 27, 2008 at 11:13 pm |
Any word on Elliot’s leg?
September 27, 2008 at 11:16 pm |
All Im saying is if you pull back on the $, then the school wont have enough to buy him out either.
-I agree guys, we can’t sit on the ball before the half
September 27, 2008 at 11:17 pm |
I figured he had a fracture the way he was dragging it. Probably did more damage letting it drag like that. Hope he is ok.
September 27, 2008 at 11:41 pm |
Croom said it doesn’t initially look good for Elliott, but he didn’t want to comment further. I’ve got a bad feeling about it.
September 29, 2008 at 8:06 am |
good job state! keep standing behind croom… we love him in Oxford!!!!
September 29, 2008 at 11:15 am |
See Ole Miss got a lucky streak….
