On the Sunday Links

Here it is: My progress report for the MSU Bulldogs. I might have been a little too kind with some of my grades, but it still ain’t pretty.

Up next: Unbeaten Vandy. Yeah, go figure.

Speaking of the No. 13-ranked Commodores, here are the latest polls.

Good article, Brad. You should have included a grade for the coaching staff or overall game plan.

Now don’t start going easy on em’ just so you can land a job on campus!

Brad, so when we knock off the No. 13 Commodores on Saturday…are we supposed to tear down the goalposts for beating Vandy? Who saw this coming?

  3. imabulldog Says:

    – Vandy is ‘so’ beatable.

    Who’s this sound like…
    – a team with not much Offense and a decent D
    -well disciplined
-take advantage of others mistakes at key moments

    -2007 MSU Bulldogs

Wish that team could find themselves again, and this would be the perfect team to do it against.

No, I don’t think Vandy is great, now would it be a huge upset, but in the minds of our team and for the morale of the team- these 2 factors would be magnified.

    The way to beat Vandy?
Contain their running game, contain the scrambling Qb’s, and make them throw outside the hashes.

Our D will have to bring it, but our O can def move the ball vs the worst D in the SEC

  4. imabulldog Says:

I meant to day ‘nor would it be a huge upset…

Either way it will be a historic day. Vandy goes to 6-0 or we pull a miracle out of the crooked hat along with another steel beam up for the video board.

BTW, I’m no engineer but how is it that UM can put up their video board in a couple of months on a few supersized gorilla basketball poles? We on the other hand feel the need to support our slightly bigger one with enough steel for the Empire State building taking 6 months in the process? Just a stupid question until Saturday gets here.

  6. South Panola Dawg Says:

Brad, you didn’t grade coaching. I’ll do it for you, though.

Coaching: F. Crxxms & Wxxdy have yet to break 40 points in 5 years. In a surprising offensive explosion for 24 points aGAINST LSU, the offense still failed to crack 300 yards of total offense. And we won’t even get into clock management. Barring a miracle, this will hopefully be the last time the Slytanic makes port in Starkville.

  7. joekstewart Says:

Vandy is beatable, but the dawgs need fan support. So if you have tickets (if you have not sold them already) go to the game.

We should have beaten Auburn, they are really having problems with the spread. I like Tyson at the helm for us, he looks calm and in control. We needed a week to get our O-loine to gel.

I saw one thing during the LSU game that has been missing on Offense, attitude. We really need to pin our ears back and pound our oppoents. I don’t care about the “grading” or the stats. We matterns at the end is, our you physical?

I like our chances after the bye week, we have performed well after a bye week for a big game (UF and BAMA). I believe our team is hungry and health for a win.

    Morning Brad,

I just heard about someone on scout.com commenting on the LSU players said that the Mississippi State players were soft. Have you heard anything on this? It may not be credible, but I am curious if there is anything to it. Living in South Louisiana, i know how tacky LSU is.

    Good blog,

  9. Brad Locke Says:

Well, bedgood, the defensive line sure got pushed around, but I don’t think “soft” would be a good overall description. And if MSU is soft, I’d hate to see what a “tough” team could do against the Tigers, who didn’t exactly dominate that game. LSU just out-sized, out-talented and out-coached the Bulldogs that night, but I don’t think they could claim victory in the effort department.

  10. bedgood Says:

I think LSU is soft compared to the teams of the past 8 years, and I think they are in trouble when Alabama and Georgia come to town, but they will realize that after Saturday. Hopefully. But I thought the LSU game was, sadly, our best game plan this season, that may be hidden by the better effort, though.

  11. bantyrooster1 Says:

Move on. LSU is over and once again our tails were between our legs. When you have poor leadership like we do, all the effort in the world doesn’t equal a win.
