First, here’s my story in today’s Journal on DT Cortez McCraney. Now, for the prediction.
Tennessee has more talent than MSU. It’s bigger, faster in certain areas, and it’s playing at home. None of this matters to me when it comes to picking this game.
Because the Volunteers are in a kerfuffle. I don’t know that coach Phillip Fulmer has lost his players, but I just don’t think he’s going to be able to get them to suddenly play at their best. That team is just not clicking, and I don’t think it will Saturday.
MSU’s defense is good enough to keep it in the game, and I think the offense will again do just enough. And the confidence edge goes to the Bulldogs.
Prediction: MSU 16, Tennessee 14.
Note: Vote in the poll above, and if you wish to be more specific, give a score and your thoughts in the comments section.

I agree Brad. State will do just enough.
State – 14
UT – 13

Hey Brad, where’s the 16 coming from? Predicting a safety, I guess? That would definitely be cool. Preferably an earned safety, though, and not a gimme like the one from Auburn.
Agreed on the confidence, too. If LSU didn’t give the Dawgs the confidence they need to win, Vanderbilt certainly did. I’m a bit more optimistic about our offense, though – sooner or later, they’ll find themselves.
24 – 10, if we can get some good play calls.

UT 23
MSU 17

16 can also be TD, Extra Point, and 3 FG’s.

I really want to be optimistic, my heart is really in it here, but my head tells me I’m an idiot. Vols 17 Dogs 6.

Don’t know what you are smoking Brad but I need some of it. Vols will literally run the football all over us.

Oh, good point BirdZ. Safety was just easier to figure. 😉

however, I don’t think we have the ability to kick 3 field goals in one game.
Bulldogs 20
Vols 14

Already gave mine a little bit ago…
Dawgs 24

Gotta say our defense looked great against the weak offense Vandy had and although Tennessee hasn’t looked great, they are a more talented team than Vandy. Gotta hope they don’t run the ball on us like last year and if I’m not mistaken Croom said the same thing last year right before the Tennessee game that we will stack it in the I and run it down their throats. All that being said I think State can and will pull it off in a tight ballgame.
Dogs- 20
Vols- 13

On a side note, I hope Hopson breaks his leg at the Vol’s first practice.
October 17, 2008 at 4:33 pm |
Dawgs by 3, my hope it will be more Dawgs by 12.
Both teams have a good defense – key is if both sides of our line show up and our offense controls the ball/clock – no turnover or stupid penalties.
Like last week TN knows they cannot loose this one, especially Fulmer.
Feel good about the Dwags can win another one – big another big win for us sure.

My predictions:
75,000 UT fans pulling for state (the Crooming of the Plumpkin)
Thousands of MState fans back home secretly hoping for the eventual Crooming of Croom.

State 13
UT 12

my heart says 13-10 state but my mind says 20-10 tenn…hope my heart leads us in the right direction…

Going with a gut feeling here. It’s probably diarrea though.
MSU: 38
TN: 24
Defense & special teams score.
We accidentally have more than 300 total yards of offense.
MSU scores the most points against an SEC opponent on the road ever with their worst OF coordinator ever.
Fulmer’s (typical) response: “I don’t know what we were doing out there!”
Your dreams of No Woody begin to fade. Just wait ’til next week against Mid Teen st.

38 points BUZZ???? Dream on!!!
Vols find their coach saver – 30
Dogs roll over – 3

I’ll be watching on espn360 and pulling for the dogs. I think this game is set up well for us to win and I think we really have a chance. But the common sense part of me says Vols 21 Dogs 10. 😦

Shmuley, I have heard that UT fans are very conflicted over this game, because of their desire to see Fulmer gone.
