Tay Bowser: Back to Offense

by

CB Tay Bowser, I’ve been told, is working with the offense at practice today (things got going at 4:45). The redshirt junior came to Starkville as a receiver but was moved to defense after his redshirt season. He’s stayed there until now.

Bowser hasn’t played the last two games for undisclosed reasons. I’m going to try to get somebody to disclose those reasons soon. In six games (no starts), he’s made 12 tackles and one pass breakup. He’s also blocked two kicks, and I imagine we’ll still see him on special teams.

I don’t think this is so much about finding another offensive weapon as eliminating a defensive liability. There’s no room for him on the depth chart at receiver anyway.

I know why this is happening. He was moved to D by Croom where he’s not comfortable and getting burned. He voiced his dislike for playing D and Croom benched him. Now Croom realizes his mistake and needs somebody to make any play on offense. If he helps the O great, he can’t get burned for 6 over there. Of course, this is all my speculation.

BTW, no speed player is going to help our offense until we put fear in our opponent’s defense with some down field (20+ yards) passes. Kentucky is going to pin their ears back and make Tyson beat them with his feet or arm.

    Uuhhhhhhhhhh…

Tay can’t help us on Off. Or on D. He’s terrible. Make him a gunner on punts

ima, i agree with BL about this is just getting rid of a defensive liability…he will never be anything more than a special teamer…maybe he can be a “kick block specialist” haha didnt michael gohler(?) do something like that after he played basketball for us and had another semester of eligibility??

The difference was I think Gholar actually could have been a good defender.

gohlar was just a he!! of an athlete and seemed like he could jump through the roof…oh well, good luck to the guy…

Tay is good on Special Teams, that is it. I am glad to see him move from DB.
