On the Links, On Tap

by

Good morning, people. The column is back this week, so here it is. Enjoy, discuss.

From the Lexington Herald-Leader, a story on why UK coach Rich Brooks changed quarterbacks. And here is what John Clay of the H-L thinks of it.

From the national scene, I’m afraid I’m not the only writer who thinks MSU is the worst team in the SEC. My new power rankings will come out tomorrow.

I’ll soon head out for Starkville to cover the weekly press conference and catch some of practice. Don’t forget to drop your question(s) in the Blog Bag.

Brad, what’s going on with the rumor of McCorvey stepping down and being replaced with Borges?

I guess that’s like putting a bandaid on a broken arm

  2. 2thdoc Says:

    Nevermind, just a rumor.

  3. carwwest Says:

i like the analogy doc…this might be the first time i agree with chris low…he is an idiot writer…

BL, good article…i dont see much improvement but i have always said the numbers dont lie…and they still dont, we still are a very bad team…

  4. Brad Locke Says:

I saw something about a Birmingham TV station reporting that about McCorvey, but there was nothing on said station’s Web site. Yeah, just a rumor.

  5. imabulldog Says:

First of all, I think Im guilty on the Al Borges talk…

I said that a long time ago, before anyone. I’d love to have him. A run first coach-hello-with the ability to open it up occasionally. You give that guy two backs and a decent QB-he will win (period).

As far as us being the weakest team in the SEC…if you say that, “here’s your idiot sign”

-UK has beat 3 “little sisters of the poor” and Lousville…
*After Saturday, and a Bulldog ‘W’, UK will still find themselves with a better record than us (thanks to the little sisters of the poor), and they will also find themselves at the bottom of the barrel in the SEC.

  6. imabulldog Says:

I guess I shoulda said here’s your sign, without saying Idiots, my bad guys…but come on, seriously…Uk above us and Auby-please, Auby would destroy Uk, even during a bad year

  7. imabulldog Says:

How about Ark State upsetting Bama? 🙂

  8. RoastBeef1 Says:

Currently, State is the weakest in the SEC. Quit being a homer and look at the facts. You bring up the “little sisters”. Kentucky just like State beat MTSU so that’s a wash. They also beat those crappy schools, Louisville (bowl team) and Arkansas. State has beaten SE La and Vandy. To me, since I’m not a homer like a lot of you guys, Kentucky has the better resume. It’s not by much, but it’s still a little.

  9. tebmsu97 Says:

I would have thought that La Tech fit the little sisters of the poor bill nicely. And didn’t Vandy just lose to Duke? Our resume is horrible. Our one decent win at this point is Vandy and they won’t make it to bowl eligible again this year. MTSU is a joke and SE La didn’t have a football team 5 years ago.

    Please step down Sly

  10. imabulldog Says:

Beef, isnt being a Homer-being negative, because if it is-Im being pretty positive. So none of that makes sense?

-And plus if we suck as bad as you think, what will you think after we beat Uk this weekend? Wouldnt that place Uk at the bottom, because lets face it-between us and them winning any remaining games, I’ll take us. Uk stinks…Like us, but we are not as bad. And yes La Tech would be included in the “sisters”

…Guess our resume’ will be better than Uk’s then

  11. carwwest Says:

ima, being a homer means you think your team is always good or better than most others no matter what reality is…

truth is neither us nor KY is very good but KY def has the coaching edge…i dont know who will win this weekend but i know we will not see 33 points again…i will wait toward that end of the week for my prediciton…

  12. imabulldog Says:

    Oh well in that case…

-No Im not a “homer”, but Im as ‘cocky’ as heck that we will beat Uk this weekend, just like I was the Vandy week. The only difference between us and them is that they did not lose to one of their ‘cupcake’ teams like we did.

-But as far as the way both teams season has progressed/degressed…I think we have the edge. They have done a good job hanging with SEC opponents(USC & Bama), but losing like they just did, losing their RB, one of the best WR’s in the SEC, and switching Qb’s…I think we have this one. NOW, will it be easy, Nope. We better bring it, but I got that feelin’

  13. imabulldog Says:

In my eyes, Uk is this year’s old Arky. I can’t see them beating UT or Vandy this year, so they can wrap it up if we beat em’

  14. dawgface52 Says:

I predict we win just one more game. Croom will just get fed up with everything and agree to a lesser buyout at year end.

  15. goldendawg Says:

didn’t you have “that feeling” the tennessee week too?

  16. imabulldog Says:

No feelin’ goldendawg, just picked a win.

And we easily coulda won that game, IF our O-Line woulda gotten off the bus, and with better coaching.

This only the second time I’ve mentioned ‘the feeling’

…Sounds like Im talking to a Dr 🙂
