Phil’s problem is that it has gotten a lot harder for him to recruit. He’s not exactly a dynamic personality, and with the advancement of facilities everywhere else he can’t just live on that any more. That is why Phil is out. He can’t bring in the dominant talent anymore.

The next guy better be real good, real fast! Otherwise, TN football is going to be down for a while.

  3. imabulldog Says:

Only reason he is fired, is because he does not have a QB, that and spoiled fans

  4. luckydog20 Says:

The Vols will be like the razorbacks. The are going to get what they want and then they will regret it.

I liked Phil. think he is a good coach. he just had them in the conf championship last year where they competed with national champ LSU. this was a rebuilding year for him and the heat should have never been on him. I wish him the best.

  6. warbirdz44 Says:

Can we get him on the next plane to Starkville?

  7. South Panola Dawg Says:

You serious, Clark? Hire Fulmer? Seriously? He couldn’t win at effing TENNESSEE. Talk about doing less with more. Phat Phil is the epitome of doing less with more. He shouldn’t be anywhere near Starkville, except as an opposing coach. Then he can come any time he wants, because he sucks as a coach. His firing was long overdue. Personally, I wish he’d won just enough games to save his job aGAIN. Because as long as he was at TN, they’d always underachieve. Damn, some of our fans our dumb.

i live in tenn and knew it was coming….but these fans are spoiled but i dont necessarily think that is a real bad thing…if you expect to win and do the right things to get there you have the right to expect better…i dont know if fulmer being fired was a good thing or not but we will see i guess…i personally think if anybody has earned the right to another year, it would be fulmer since they were in the sec championship game last year but thats just me…then you have us…crxxm has done NOTHING to earn another year….it is past time to get rid of him…we lost to a terrible tenn team, lost to a bad KY team, lost to a terrible auburn team, and la tech….nothing worth keeping on this staff…

  9. deaddawg1 Says:

    T. Bowden —–gone.

    Fulmer ———gone.

WHY? WHY? WHY? Can’t we say Croom gone?

  10. South Panola Dawg Says:

And lest we forget, Phat Phil back stabbed Johnny Majors to become HC. He also destroyed the Bama program while cheating his ass off just as bad as Bama. The man is a lying, cheating, traitorous snake. Karma’s a bitch if you’re Fulmer. He got what he deserved and should never be allowed near Starkville.

  11. dawgface52 Says:

The reason Croom will survive is the national p/r nightmare from firing the first black head coach of the SEC who was also coach of the year last year. Only way he leaves is if he gets pissed for having to replace several staff members. That is my hope.

  12. thingreenline Says:

Willingham paved the way for Croom to get fired w/out a major PR disruption, dawgface. B/c of him, schools should no longer be subjected to the injustices involved in getting rid of poor-performing colored coach. Thanks, Coach W, for your sacrifice.

With that said, Croom still ain’t going anywhere during the off-season.

  13. bdawginms Says:

Last time I checked white was a color too.

  14. bleedmaroon Says:

might as well face it guys..Crxxm isn’t going anywhere. Wxxdy will most likely step down for health reasons meaning Crxxm won’t have to fire him. He will do just as he did when Ellis left, promote from within so we can continue running the north pole offense. which is as exciting to watch as sitting at the north pole in my drawers. thats why harbison got promoted, so we could keep things the way they are. yall know how stubborn crxxm is, he wont change. so why hire a new coach to call the same ol 6 plays?

  15. mathistondawg Says:

I will take willingham – he has div I head coaching experience
