SEC Power Rankings: In Full

by

OK, I’ll make a full list this week, although for places 7-12, there won’t be a “previous” ranking since I grouped them all together last time. So here goes:

1. Alabama (1): Beware LSU. Last real test of the regular season for the Tide. What, Auburn? Seriously?
2. Florida (2): I could make a case for the Gators being No. 1, but we’ll just have to wait until they beat Bama in the SEC championship game.
3. Georgia (3): It’s Alabama, Florida, and then everybody else. What’s up, Dawgs?
4. LSU (4): They’ll welcome Nick Saban to Baton Rouge with open mouths and closed fists.
5. South Carolina (5): I’d love to see Steve Spurrier take the Tennessee job, just to see how the Vols’ fan base would deal with that moral conundrum.
6. Ole Miss (6): Rebels finally win two in a row.
7. Vanderbilt: Gotta snap out of this slide one of these days. Not this week, though (Florida).
8. Arkansas: I could honestly see the Razorbacks win out. Or lose out. But they’ve improved.
9. Kentucky: That front four was dynamite last week. I lost track of J.C. Brignone’s low snaps, bless his heart.
10. Auburn: Speaks ill of the SEC that the Tigers can lose four straight and still be No. 10.
11. Tennessee: Auburn’s last win came against the Vols. And the Vols’ last win came against …
12. Mississippi State: Some fans want to blame it all on dismissed and injured players. That won’t fly in a big boy league.

What really makes this 12th ranking hurt is hearing Pegues sarcastically refrer to his own team as the, “…lowly MSU bulldogs”.

On top of that, McCorvey is referring to himself in 3rd person while dismissing health rumors basically saying he’s not choosing to leave.

Ron Prince is being forced out at Kansas St. I know he has had a tough time lately, but he is a heckuva coach – offensively. He is a motivator – a players coach.

  3. carwwest Says:

egh…i dont know about ron prince….i think there are better options out there for us…but i guess we will just have to wait and see what byrne is made of….i have to think he will do what is right for the university…if not i will lose all hope…

I am with you West. Let’s hope that GB has a set

I think the Gators are the ones headed to be SEC Champs. Believe they are a better team that the Tide.

Almost every year since Crxxm has been here, state has one a game that they were not supposed to. maybe the bama game is one for us. I’m not totaly betting against our bulldogs. that #1 is just that, a number. I may be wrong and I may be setting myself up for dissapointment again, but hey isnt that what it means to be a bulldog?

  7. deaddawg1 Says:

Even if the dawgs were to pull off such an upset, I would feel no better about our program. Until we are able to show some consistancy in winning
a few SEC games and all the patsies, we remain a doormat and the laughing stock of the SEC. NO respect, because we haven’t earned it.

  8. imabulldog Says:

If we beat Bama, IF, we are winning out-period.

Like I said, Bama is so one-dimensional! But, they hurt other teams with the deep ball-when forced to. Can we stop em? I think we are last in Rush D this yr in the SEC. I love it JPWilson has to throw, because if he throws enough-good things happen for us.

We’ll see…And I’m not just being my old optomistic self…they are very beatable, like anyone else

  9. carwwest Says:

there are not many #1 teams that are very beatable by this mississippi state team whether it is bama, USC, texas, etc…we are next to last in rushing defense and they are first in the run…its going to be a looooong day….
