Blog Bag: Back to Work

by

Game time for Arkansas on Nov. 22 is 1:30 p.m. No TV. The basketball game that day against Farleigh Dickinson is at 6.

MSU coach Sylvester Croom is jumping on game plan and third-down stuff in today’s practices, to give his team a head start, he said. Hey, gotta pull out all the stops for the No. 1 team.

So I’m sure y’all will have plenty of good questions for me this week, it being such a huge game. Can the Bulldogs play spoiler? I’d have to say that if so, Croom would officially own the Tide. Big ol’ if, though.

Got a basketball press conference today, too, so toss me a few of those. By the way, the season preview will run in Thursday’s paper. First regular season game is 2 p.m. Saturday versus Centenary.

No “IF” needed. So far this year I have not seen this team play on all cylinders. We get good play from the run game but the passing game doesn’t open up. We get the passing game to open up we get no run game or special teams help. Too many key players lost, and the WCO is ridiculous! Satan is going to punish us with the running game and then toss it over our heads to JJ for easy scores. I usually try to be more positive but the maroon colored glasses are off. All I can see is reality.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like we’re making more of a push for junior college guys in recruiting. Is that move a change in philosophy, urgency to win next year, or my own imagination?

So, now we are going to”pull out all the stops?’ What possible stops do we have to pull out? Why haven’t we already pulled them out to win any game? This is a long way down the road from 1980. Back then we played to win. Now we play not to lose, a coaching philososphy that usally leads to defeat. Our record reflects it very clearly.

Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a coaching change.

Guess my glass is half full……All I know is the last time we beat Bama was last year and the last time we beat Bama @Bama was the year before that (2006-07 season)

What was the outcome of the 2006-07 season? 3-9 overall 1-7 SEC
That 2006-07 team was horrible, we are NOT horrible…

So, yes I believe we have a chance to beat Bama!

    Go Bulldogs!!!!

  5. RoastBeef1 Says:

no, definitely not horrible like the 2006-2007 team, but isn’t Bama much better than that year?

  6. msudawginbama Says:

i’ll be in the stands. been to the past 2 msu-bama games & the outcome has been favorable. here’s to starting a roll!
    go state!

BL, benock has the sweetest looking shot on the basketball team in my opinion from what i have seen….what is keepinghim from shooting more??…

but i have to disagree with the horrible 06-07 team and now…i classify this team as horrible just because we have talent and the coaches have no clue how to use it…while there is more talent on this team than there was a few years ago, we are getting the same results because of one constant (cough cough)….so is the team more talented, yes but is it showing, no…and plus i think this years team might have even less confidence than the last few years because of the expectations…

  8. leeearl Says:

Same players for the most part with an addition of a lot of unexperienced, but talented freshman….

  9. leeearl Says:

Riley definitely has a sweet shot…I’m anxious to see Oz and Dee in action for the first time!

Carwwest, I agree with your points regarding talent, confidence, coaching, etc…

Right now we are a 19.5 point underdog. This would rank in the top five wins in school history. Given how poorly we have played at this point, the fact that the Alabama nation is fully behind their team, the fact that Saban was embarrassed by us last year, and that we haven’t exactly shown much on offense, well, I want to believe but just don’t want to have my hopes dashed again.

  11. mathistondawg Says:

ESPN is going to play it up too. Y’know, all the storylines: “embattled coach coming in to his alma mater”, Croom’s accomplishments there, the fact he won in Tuscaloosa two years ago and cried on the sidelines, and we have won the last two games against them. It is going to get Bama fired up.

  12. darkcooger Says:

I’m sure the Bama offense isn’t happy about being kept off the boards for the past three years, either. I’m hopeful and I’m ragging my Bama co-workers, but I don’t expect anything better than a total blowout. However…

    Go Dawgs!

  13. imabulldog Says:

hey, if they wanna rag a 3-6 team, let em’…just shows how much class they have
