Croom Says …

by

From this morning’s Sylvester Croom teleconference:

• On playing the No. 1 team in the land: “It’s like a bowl game.”

• On Alabama QB John Parker Wilson: “John Parker’s playing well. He engineered an excellent game plan the other night. He’s not making mistakes. He’s a senior quarterback. There’s a big difference in that senior year, when you’ve got experience. You’ve seen pretty much everything you’re going to see.”

• On Bama WR Julio Jones: “Size is the first thing you notice, then he’s got great speed, great body control, great hands, and he’s an intense competitor. … He is a very good route runner, particularly for a freshman. … He’s learned to use his size and his strength subtly already.”

• On Bama NG Terrence Cody: “He’s an unusual athlete for a man that size. He can move, and we call them space eaters. He eats up lot of space inside, and lot of blocks.”

• On the 1980 MSU win over No. 1 Alabama (Croom was a Bama assistant coach): “It cost us a national championship. It was very disappointing, because that was a very good team, one of the better defensive teams, statistically, in Alabama history. … But the Mississippi State team was very good, too, had an excellent defense at the time.”

• On whether he watched the Bama-LSU game as a fan or as a coach (from the AP guy): “I can’t believe you asked me that (hearty laughter). We’re trying to find any kind of edge we can. Definitely not as a fan.”

It is a win-win game for us. If we win, we beat the #1 team in the nation and some of the recruits may give us another look. If we lose, then nothing should stop AD Byrne from sending Wxxdy away or to the office. What would be a disaster is that we win 2 of the last 3 and realize that we were 1 play away from a bowl!

Thats true desert. I’d love to see us win out, but that would also encourage another year or two for Wxxdy probably…which I’d hate to see, but I’d love to see us win too.

I’m looking forward to this weekend, believe it or not, I am 🙂

    Go Dawgs! Bamamans an idiot!

BTW, Julio Jones is a MAN. great moves off the line, physical, gets tons of yards after each catch, hard to get down. Wish we had about 4 of him

I would LOVE a win this weekend! My good friend here at work is a HUGE ‘bama fan and I would like to see his face. But, then again, if we win it puts another year at least of what we have now. It would be like last year, when we were winning and went to a bowl game thinking we finally came around and were on the right track. We all forgot the 3 yrs leading up to that. If we do win Sat. and especially another one after that, we are going to be right back where we were at the end of last year.

Although, go Dawgs – beat BAMA

honestly, i have to think byrne has already made up his mind about wxxdy even if the stars aligned and we won out…but as much as i would love a win because i hate bama, i dont see it happening…i dont think we will cover the spread honestly…. i dont want us to lose ever but if we had to get destroyed in the last couple games in order for crxxm to leave, i might actually wish that…if we have another 3 win season, which i think we will, i dont care what the buyout is, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to give crxxm another season…no excuses about probation, money, ect….
