  1. darkcooger Says:

Well, good work by the defense, but ouch on the opening position. Yikes!

  2. darkcooger Says:

Oh wow, what a craptacular snap.

  3. truedog4 Says:

Hey, our special teams make an appearance five minutes into the game!

  4. darkcooger Says:

Well, Alabama has two. Now we need three and just hold steady all night. I don’t know that anything would make me laugh harder than beating Bama 3-2.

  5. maroon1white Says:

I TOLD EVERYBODY THIS WOULD HAPPEN WITH A NEW CENTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. goldendawg Says:

Two big mistakes already in a game where we can’t afford any

  7. Brad Locke Says:

Pretty sure I’ll be writing about ball-snappers in tomorrow’s paper. 5-0 Bama after Leigh Tiffin’s 35-yard field goal. Quickie trivia: Tiffin played his junior year of high school football at Tupelo (2004).

  8. dawgface52 Says:

What a crappy offense. Just poor execution. No line. But I do have plenty of beer.

  9. darkcooger Says:

I never, ever would have guessed we’d be down by five. 5-0 is a baseball score, not a football score.

Also, this makes 13 quarters without giving up an offensive touchdown to the big red elephants. Go Dawg defense!

  10. goldendawg Says:

It’s look like the defense came to play…

  11. Brad Locke Says:

End of 1st quarter: Bama 5, MSU 0. Thoughts:

    • Obviously, breaking in a new center tonight was not a great idea.
    • However, Bama still hasn’t scored a touchdown.
    • MSU defense doing a good job in pass defense. John Parker Wilson hasn’t been able to find any open receivers downfield.

    STATS
Total offense: MSU 37 yards, Bama 69 yards.
    Dixon: 4-9
    Lee: 3-5-0, 33 yards
    Coffee: 7-30
    Wilson: 4-5-0, 35 yards
    Jones: 2-19

  12. Brad Locke Says:

BTW, Dominic Douglas has 6 tackles already.

  13. midnightdawg Says:

    Defense playing great, agreed.
    Plenty of beer, agreed.
    Offense… same ol………agreed

5-0, ugly score, we need an ugly game to win. Got em right where we want em

  14. Brad Locke Says:

Rain comes in, wind picks up. I’m getting drizzled on a bit here.

  15. midnightdawg Says:

not sure what kool aid espn anouncers are drinking.. one minute they’re pounding Croom, next complimenting… sometimes both in same sentence

too early to tell on new center BL. Let’s see if we can get run game going.

  16. darkcooger Says:

It wouldn’t take but one JP pick-6 to put us on top. And apparently we have a knack for picking him off at the best possible moment. Show it to us again, Dawg D!

  17. darkcooger Says:

Two phenomenal receptions on that drive. I was also impressed with Lee’s passes – they weren’t pretty and they may not have been especially wise, but they were at least close. Way to go Dawgs!

  18. Brad Locke Says:

Sweet pass by Lee to Smith, 31 yards for the score. 7-5 MSU with 10:19 to go in the half. The driver went 7 plays, 78 yards, 3:43 off the clock. And that’s the first time I’ve ever seen back-to-back false starts on a PAT. But Carlson made it anyway.

  19. truedog4 Says:

Hello, special teams, nice to see you again.

  20. southavendawg Says:

there goes the streak! Where’s Anthony Johnson again?

  21. darkcooger Says:

Well, I guess 13 was the unlucky number.

  22. mathistondawg Says:

Play of the defense has been great. Unforetunately, we have a special teams unit. They are killing us once again. If we have to kick in any way, we blow it time and again.

  23. darkcooger Says:

Well, the defense has been playing up to SEC standards and the offense hasn’t been too shabby. This game is a lot closer than I expected and I’m pretty proud of our Dawgs!

And I like hearing Saban say, “We’ve got to execute better.” It tickles me.

  24. dawgx Says:

ESPN showed Croom shaking hands with the Alabama fans before the game and him walking around in awe of Bryant-Dennny. I think we all know where his loyalty stands now!
I have never seen him do that at MSU.

Maybe Little Nicky Satan can give him a job over there…

  25. maroon1white Says:

Well, even with horrible special teams, way too many stupid penalties, but great defense we’re still in this thing. I really expect them to come out in the 2nd half throwing the football hope history repeats itself. Thank goodness my tv doesn’t have ears I would have busted its ear drums by now 🙂

    Go State!

  26. maroon1white Says:

Holy Crap! LSU is losing to Troy 17 – 3 in Baton Rouge!!!

  27. Brad Locke Says:

Now that I’ve warmed up a bit, some halftime thoughts:

    • MSU’s biggest accomplishment was keeping this close at halftime, because Bama has been a big first-half team.
    • No running game for MSU. But the passing game is pretty sharp.
    • Alabama hasn’t put together a drive longer than 9 plays or 35 yards.

    Team stats:
First downs: MSU 6, Bama 5
    Rushes-Yards: MSU 13-13, Bama 20-57
    Passing: MSU 8-14-0, 121 yards; Bama 6-8-0, 53 yards
Total yards: MSU 134, Bama 110

    MSU Individual stats:
QB Tyson Lee: 8-14-0, 121 yards, 1 TD
RB Anthony Dixon: 8-21 rushing, 3-28 receiving
    LB Dominic Douglas: 8 tackles

    Alabama Individual stats:
QB John Parker Wilson 6-8-0, 53 yards, 1 rushing TD
    RB Glen Coffee: 11-43
    WR Julio Jones: 2-19
LB Rolando McClain: 9 tackles, 1 sack

  28. midnightdawg Says:

Glad to see OL is protecting Lee…. Blocked punt was not snap’s fault, just a defensive shift. Wish I coulda been in that locker room during halftime..

    GO DAWGS!

  29. maroon1white Says:

We have the worst special teams EVER!

  30. darkcooger Says:

Troy up 23-3 on LSU, and Vandy leading Kentucky 24-7!

  31. darkcooger Says:

Well, that’s probably it right there. Dammit.

  32. southavendawg Says:

Think we can kick it out of bounds! Stringer just lost his job.

  33. Brad Locke Says:

Well, that’s two inexcusable coverage breakdowns. And I’d just written last week how well that unit had been doing.

  34. maroon1white Says:

Just angle it OB, how hard can it be? DAMN IT!

  35. maroon1white Says:

    Carroll is in?

  36. goldendawg Says:

    WESLEY CARROL???

  37. darkcooger Says:

Why is Wes Carroll in the game? Is something wrong with Lee? If not, why the switch?

  38. midnightdawg Says:

    timeout, lol
    this koolaid is getting sour….

  39. thespear Says:

Croom has lost his mind!!!! tyson is playin his heart out!!!! Wes Carroll….. croom gone insane!

  40. southavendawg Says:

GAME OVER! Appearance of Carroll and the other team’s lead of any margin at all gives me no confidence in the Dawgs for the rest of the night. Hope they prove me wrong.

  41. midnightdawg Says:

    GO DAWGS

  42. darkcooger Says:

Okay, I still say Wes Carroll is not a bad quarterback and I’m glad that he’s getting some playing time, but WHY NOW? Lee is the quarterback! He’s been the quarterback for most of the season now. He’s the leader. You don’t just change that unless something is wrong, and there’s NOTHING WRONG on offense! (At least nothing that Wes Carroll is magically going to fix.)

  43. dawgx Says:

Carroll? What an idiot! Yeah coach it was Tyson’s fault Arenas ran that punt back! Oh didn’t he drive the length of the field on them and through a touchdown pass? Croom you and McCorvey are complete idiots, please I beg both of you stay in Al!

  44. mathistondawg Says:

Stringer should have been gone weeks ago. There is no excuse for how poorly our special teams unit has been this year. Lets see if crooms does it on monday as he should. Why can’t we roll out and punt downfield like so many others do to keep it out of Arenas hands? or at least out of bounds? I’m proud of our defense and offense though – they are playing their guts out.

  45. midnightdawg Says:

this game is not over, hope for a memorable comeback. but in the present, i finally understand why my father is such a pesimistic a$hole when it comes to MSU football. I don’t want to become that guy… but there’s a full moon here… anybody have a moving van I can dance on or a weak basketball team i can dunk on?.. IT”S HAPPENING!!!

  46. dawgx Says:

Offense and defense are both doing very well. Special teams are anything but special! Maybe short bus special…

    Glad to see Lee back!

  47. maroon1white Says:

will J. Smith please jump to catch a pass please? you have to go get the football. Lee is forcing passes he’s got to settle down.

  48. maroon1white Says:

Jarret Lee just threw his 7th pick six Troy 24 LSU 3 @ the half, WOW!

  49. darkcooger Says:

I really feel bad for the defense, putting on such an outstanding effort but it’s not going to pay off… again…

  50. maroon1white Says:

better than a TD. If we don’t score on this drive its bad news.

  51. midnightdawg Says:

Most thought this would be over at halftime at the latest. Proud of the team. Bring it back Derek!

  52. dc31 Says:

Just wondering what we would be like if we had an offense that ranked in between the 50s or 70s…that’s not asking too much is it?

  53. darkcooger Says:

I want a turnover. I want a turnover for a score. I want a pick-6 on JP for the third year in a row.

  54. mathistondawg Says:

I want to see croom ranting on the sidelines some more. I want him mad. I want him to admit he has things that need fixing besides “we had a good week of practice, we just didn’t execute today”. Most of all, I want to beat alabama, but it doesn’t look like that will happen. My hope is that our performance knocks them down a notch or two.

  55. southavendawg Says:

If Mike Patrick kisses Croom’s butt one more time, I think I might puke!

  56. darkcooger Says:

Well guys, I think that’s all for me. I give up. I can’t handle any more of this. The defense plays their hearts out, the offense plays fairly, and still nothing doing. I love our Dawgs, but they’re breaking my heart.

    Bring on the basketball.

  57. southavendawg Says:

Saban trying to run up the score?

  58. mathistondawg Says:

If y’all haven’t noticed, we didn’t qualify for a bowl this year. So much for that extension we gave croom last year.

  59. mathistondawg Says:

At this point, I hope they score a few more on some punt returns to drive the point home we have some special team issues. I wonder if he will address what he and stringer spoke about on the sideline postgame. I doubt it. It will be same ol same ol press conference.

  60. 2thdoc Says:

Well…Dee Bost looked good tonight. Phil Turner should stay on the bench. Cody was ok and Elgin Bailey looked like a different player with his quickness. Ravern was a little off and Swat was dominant. The team will take some time to gel but it’s nice seeing everybody playing well together and being so young.

Croom dropping F-Bombs on TV is great. Just shows how “doing it the right way” is nothing more than coach speak. Mr. Byrne, we need to change the channel to something else.

  61. skydawg706 Says:

10 dropped passes, if not more, forgot how many were over or under thrown.

Oh well there is always next year….

Just hope we do not have to stomach losing to Ole Miss.

  62. dadwithpride Says:

Maybe a big loss to Ole miss will force Byrnes hand, or embaress crxxm into giving up

  63. dadwithpride Says:

I missed the F-Bomb, when was that?

  64. bantyrooster1 Says:

How many Croom supporters are left and I’m not counting Mike Patrick who did everything but run down on the sidelines and hug the Walrus. My goodness, we’re bad. Our defense looked good but when you have an offense and special teams like we do, you will never win unless you’re playing another team that has a dumb butt for a head coach as well. Sad.

  65. imabulldog Says:

    Weeeeeeeeeee Ssssssuuuuuuuuccckkkkkk

  66. thespear Says:

we crumbled in the second half…

and i believe the f bomb occurred after one of the special teams mishaps. Crooms lips moved to the tune of: What the f*** are we doing?….. something like that!

  67. carwwest Says:

i dont know what the exact numbers are but why do you think we crumbled in the second half??…because other real coaches make adjustments and we do not…

crxxm def dropped the f bomb…and those announcers kissed his azz more than they probably kiss their wives….

i didnt mind the carroll thing as much just because he was trying to get a spark but i still thought it came out of no where…but the 10 dropped passes are bogus…yeah we definitely had drops but half of those that espn counts as drops were bad throws….will somebody tell lee not to throw it as hard as he can when the guy is 4 yards away….that one he threw back to smith that the announcers went crazy over was hit or miss, could have been a good catch but shouldnt be considered a drop….

crxxm is a joke, no way around it….our staff is a joke and the judgement of talent is a joke….robinson and mcrae should be the focus point of this offense right now, not bell, dixon, and smith….either way, whether tyson or wes or whoever is lined up at QB, we are going to struggle while crxxm is our coach…i just want something different to complain about…it is always the same thing with us, special teams and offense…crxxm has shown he doesnt know how to fix anything….the time has passed for him to leave….

  68. skydawg706 Says:

I feel Croom would resign before he being fired/buy out.

I think Croom words….”What the F@#* was that?

I know we all have been complaining about the coaching staff (complete overhall), but what about the players? It is not like they have not played football before (position) – got to execute – line is the key – does not matter what kind of super star is in the backfield or behind center – its the guys on the front line that has to “get’er done” – without a solid line – the ball stops there.

Seems some State players still do not know how to tackle……
