Douglas, Pegues Make All-SEC

Should’ve mentioned this earlier. Seniors Dominic Douglas (linebacker) and Derek Pegues (free safety) earned second-team honors on the coaches’ All-SEC team, which was released today. Douglas was also selected second team by the AP yesterday.

Douglas, who slid over to the middle linebacker slot when Jamar Chaney broke his leg, ended the regular season as the SEC’s leading tackler (116). The Clinton native was the first Bulldog since 2000 (Mario Haggan) to lead the SEC in stops.

Speaking of Haggan, he was the last MSU player to make the All-SEC team three times, as Pegues has now done. Pegues, of Batesville, made 50 tackles and had two interceptions this year. He finished with 12 career interceptions, and he is the school’s career leader in several kick return categories.

    good for these guys!!!!

These two arent done playing either, We will see em on Sunday!!!

BL, why you think Douglas didnt make the first team, even though he was the conference leader in tackles?

  2. boonhoggenbeck Says:

Douglas didn’t make it because State had a sorry ass season…also, last year Pegues was first team SEC…dropped down for the same reason. Look at the selections…and then look at the win/loss record of the teams they played for…it may provide a clue as to how they’re selected.

he should be the career leader in kick returns!!!!

Didn’t Pegues break the SEC career record for returns and return yards this year? I don’t think his season was as good this year as last, but he’s still an excellent player. We’re going to miss him and Douglas a LOT.

The mention of Mario Haggan brought back happy memories. Drop some other old Bulldog names on us, Brad. After the last week or so, we sure as hell need those good memories.

Both are very deserving of this honor. Two excellent athletes, I’ve always thought Pegues would have been awsome on offense as in a wild bulldog scheme or something. I guess we’l never know. Congrats to them both !!

Rumor has it that Carroll is transferring to FIU and
I think Oklahoma or Florida’s OC sound like good coaches for State

Someone ask me today what the difference would be between Oklahoma’s OC and Florida’s OC all I could think of was that in the past few weekends was about 40 pts. Man I must be really bored i’m on this blog and trying to watch Planet of the Apes the 70’s version. Man oh Man.. Wife and kids are at Carrie Underwood concert……

  9. imabulldog Says:

First of all, how the heck do you lead the SEC in tackles and get picked as 2nd team! If I was Dougy I’d tell them no thanks. That’s ridiculous.

If Dixon had a line he would have been listed.

Tough for Douglas, if we had a winning season he would be on first team. Or if your Tennessee.
