Nothing new this morning in MSU’s coach search, except that Meridian QB and State commit Tyler Russell is being courted by South Carolina. However, there is plenty to report on other programs trying to fill a vacancy.
• At Auburn: Mobile Press-Register columnist Paul Finebaum rips Auburn AD Jay Jacobs a new one, calling him “amateur.” Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley is one of at least six candidates reportedly interviewed by Jacobs, and he issued this statement yesterday:
“Obviously, representatives from Auburn spoke with many people around the annual National Football Foundation event. I was one of the many but any further comment on this matter would be inappropriate at this time.”
• On the Syracuse front, we know the Orange folks are talking with East Carolina coach Skip Holtz. Post-Standard columnist Bud Poliquin wonders if the job is Holtz’s to lose.
Let us not forget about basketball. The Bulldogs are at home tonight against Charlotte (6 p.m.), and here is an update.

me either Braves. ColoradoReb said yesterday he’s got a source at Oklahoma that says they are pretty sure they’re going to play in the National Title game. If it was anybody else i wouldn’t believe it. I’m gonna ask him today if he knows yet who Oklahoma is going to play.

This is per footballmill.com Sources at Mississippi State tell Football Rumor Mill that the school has begun contract negotiations with Oklahoma OC Kevin Wilson. Wilson could be named the new Bulldog head coach very soon. More to come… Take it for what its worth……

So take it as just another rumor then? 🙂 I’d love to see everything settled by this afternoon and have State pick up an outstanding coach, but at this point, I’m pretty content to just sit back and watch the crap fly until the announcement comes from Ninja Master Byrne himself.
