Bring It On

by

It’s Monday morning, and I am ready to get moving. My enthusiasm and energy level this early is rather disconcerting, but I’m going to have to keep it up for the week ahead. Let’s see, I’ll be in Starkville today to talk with MSU basketball coach Rick Stansbury and players; then I’ll be flying out of Columbus at 5:45 Tuesday morning, covering the Kentucky game tomorrow night, jetting back Wednesday in time for National Signing Day … and I don’t even know what’s going on after that. Haven’t thought that far ahead. I do know I need to talk to John Cohen, whose baseball team began preseason drills yesterday.

Maybe I’m still pumped from the game last night. I was going for Arizona, but that might be the best Super Bowl I’ve seen, even better than last year’s. Lot of happy folks in Pittsburgh. The same can’t be said for the fine people of Lexington. MSU will be facing a Kentucky team that’s stinging from consecutive losses, first to Ole Miss, and then to South Carolina. The fans … not so happy. Some are against coach Billy Gillispie, some are for him.

MSU, of course, lost to that Ole Miss team as well, on Saturday. So what we have is a team tied for first in the Eastern Division – with Florida and South Carolina – battling a second-place West team. Not quite the matchup we were envisioning last week, when it was anticipated to be a clash of division leaders. But in a way, this game becomes even bigger because of what happened last week. Especially for MSU (14-7, 4-2 SEC), which has an awful lot of work left to do if it hopes to draw an NCAA tournament bid. The Bulldogs’ RPI has plummeted to 103, according to RealTimeRPI.com. Not good.

So I’ll check back after we speak with Stansbury and his players. Gotta keep moving.

Hey, they got the Andy Kennedy arrest video link over there on PA’s,

Copy and past of my post over there regarding the video (thought this was funny):

He seriously played the “Do you know who I am?” card?

The response from the cop was hilarious, though. “Sir, do you think we’ve never arrested someone who would make the national media? We deal with the Bengals all the time!”

JCD, “this is an international altercation” LOL 🙂
