Read it before we print it:
Dan Mullen introduced former college teammate Scott Sallach as the newest member of the Mississippi State coaching staff Wednesday.
Today, Mullen will announce the specific duties for each of his assistants, which is a mixture of Sylvester Croom holdovers and new faces. Mullen has already said he will help run the offense but will focus on special teams.
Sallach was hired by Elon last month as passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He was at Princeton from 2003-08, coaching receivers and quarterbacks, and he’s also had stops at Dartmouth, Monmouth and Hamilton College.
Sallach and Mullen both graduated from Pennsylvania’s Ursinus College in 1994.

egh, what is this guy supposed to do??…its seems like we are going to have 8 people coaching some of the same positions on offense and not so much on defense….

Yeah it seems like we have a lot of coaches on the offensive side of the ball but I’m interested to see what Dan is gonna do with each of them. I have faith in him. SEC overall did great as usual recruiting so it will be up for grabs

Great defensive coaches are a dime a dozen. Any offensive coach can coach defense. But getting great offensive coaches are hard to come by. Dan is pulling it off. The hardest thing to coach in football is blocking assignments. Defensive reads, schemes, and tackling are elementary tasks compared to what offensive players have to learn. Don’t think for one minute that our defense won’t be aggressive and flying to the ball. It’ll be nice to see that mentality on both sides of the ball now.
