Staff Set; Big Win for Fanning

As this hectic week comes to an end, the news keeps happening. Here is today’s story about MSU’s football coaching staff. Always interesting to see how different coaches arrange their staffs. From my humble viewpoint, it seems like a pretty good mix of veterans and up-and-comers, and judging by what he’s done so far, Reed Stringer should thrive in his new role as director of recruiting operations.

To hoops, the Lady Bulldogs pulled off a big win against No. 20 Vanderbilt last night, 66-61. Not only did MSU knock off the first-place team in the SEC, but coach Sharon Fanning earned career victory No. 550. “This is a very big win for the program,” Fanning said. Indeed, as it puts State at 17-6 overall and 4-4 in SEC play heading into Sunday’s home game with LSU, which the Lady Bulldogs beat in Baton Rouge, 38-36, on Jan. 22. Alexis Rack scored 14 points for MSU last night.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the MSU men (15-7, 5-2 SEC) host Arkansas (13-7, 1-6) at 2 p.m. (Raycom). State beat the Hogs in Fayetteville, 70-56, on Jan. 10.

coaching staff sounds good…I approve, so now they can go and their jobs

The SEC scheduling is “messed up” MSU playing Arkansas again before they’ve played Auburn once. The schedule should be set up so that it’s more equitable for all SEC teams. I’m not positive, but I believe that TV money is to blame. Unfortunately, that means that “fair” scheduling may be a thing of the past.

well…auby is almost always 2 easy wins šŸ™‚ so no complaints here

ima, you might’ve just jinxed us against Assburn…

  6. imabulldog Says:

hope not, we SUCK if we lose to them. Let’s be honest, they have to get as hot the freakin SUN to beat us šŸ™‚

Shoot, TV has made scheduling unfair for years. They’ve got the leagues on a leash. Thus, Wednesday night college football.

After losing to Ole Miss at home, I would say we could lose to just about anybody on any given day. While beating Kentucky was a good win, Kentucky seems to be in a slump right now losing three in a row including the loss to Ole Miss. We need some wins badly. Our RPI is low and right now it’s looking like we won’t be in the Big Dance next month. Lets hope we can start playing with some more consistency. If we can, then we might be dancing after all.

As much as hate to admit it, Ole Miss is pretty good. I know, I know, but especially next year-we are gonna have our hands full both games.

I think they could sneak right back into the race for the West with us and LSU- with ease.

Man, I hate given that type of credit

Here’s a great link to youtube videos of our coaches commenting on our new recruits:

As long as we have some big men in the middle so swat dont have to be pushed around. Just like in the second half of the Kent game. When he can patrol the middle without having a 250-270lb guy on him all the time. He can take the wind out of a good run against us.

Here is a youtube link that has a lot of videos of our new players we just signed. You’ll hear our coaches in the background giving their input about the particular athlete.

  13. JB Says:

The dawg ate the hawg in Arkansas. Not reason why they can’t have pig once again.

  14. darkcooger Says:

Here’s hoping, JB! What do you think of Ole Miss at Vandy?

  15. JB Says:

Obvious, I am, and always have been a strong supporter of Ole Miss, even if they were playing the Celtics. This should be a good basketball game, so I think that the Rebs will prevail. We must remember that the Rebs have been playing this season, practically, with their second team. They have done exceptional well. This is a credit to Coach Kennedy in his excellent recruitment.

  16. buzzardroostus Says:

I agree JB. Kennedy has done his best coaching job yet in my opinion considering the outside distractions. He’s the reason Ole Miss beat us. We were totally out coached.
