Dee Bost: Freshman of the Week

The SEC just announced that MSU point guard Dee Bost is the Freshman of the Week. It’s the second time he’s captured the honor. In wins over Kentucky and Arkansas, he averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists.

Bost is starting to figure things out, and opponents are noticing. After Saturday’s win, Arkansas coach John Pelphrey said of Bost, “He’s as good as any guard in the league, forget the fact that he’s a freshman.” In two games against the Hogs, Bost averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 assists.

Up next is LSU, against whom Bost was held to two points and two assists in the Tigers’ 81-57 win Jan. 21. LSU coach Trent Johnson is still impressed with Bost. “Dee Bost doesn’t play like a freshman,” Johnson said this morning.

As for the SEC’s Player of the Week: LSU’s Tasmin Mitchell. He scored 24 points in the first meeting with State.

All I know is Barry better be on Tasmin Micthell. I know he still hits shots with hands in his face, but we have to make him earn every point, heck put him on the line. Do like we did Meeks.

I really think Barry “Randy” has found his stride the last 2 games, and is impressing me for the first time in AWHILE

Wouldn’t you put him on Thorton? Seems if he was a best defender we would put him on their best offensive player.
