Football Game Swap

by

MSU has announced a change in the 2009 football schedule, swapping the Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech games. The Bulldogs will now visit Vandy on Sept. 19 and host Tech on Oct. 3. That’ll give State three straight home games, with Tech sandwiched between LSU and Houston (homecoming).

“In working with the Southeastern Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference and within our new television deal with ESPN, we switched the dates of these two games,” director of athletics Greg Byrne said in a release.

The revised schedule:

Sept.   5              JACKSON STATE
Sept.   12       * at Auburn
Sept.   19       * at Vanderbilt
Sept.   26       * LSU
Oct.      3              GEORGIA TECH
Oct.      10        HOUSTON (HOMECOMING)
Oct.      17        at Middle Tennessee
Oct.      24          * FLORIDA
Oct.      31       * at Kentucky
Nov.    14       * ALABAMA
Nov.    21       * at Arkansas (Little Rock)
Nov.    28       * OLE MISS

not really glad we get GT after we get beat up by LSU but whatever….what is the reason we had to switch and what do the *’s indicate??

  2. maroon1white Says:

Whats worse GT after LSU or LSU after 2 straight away games @ AU & Vandy, then GT.

This entire schedule is pretty tough.

Yea, Carw, those stars don’t seem to have a pattern to them. Maybe the times have been decided for the ones with stars and espn hasn’t nailed down tv times for the others is the only thing I could see as the answer.

  3. imabulldog Says:

Oh well, we knew it just lookin at the old schedule, we are gonna have to line up and bring it, no matter who we are playing in a certain order

  4. imabulldog Says:

no more than 2 straight road games…I’ll take it

  5. Brad Locke Says:

Fixed the asterisks. Not sure what the deal was, but they now stand for SEC games.

  6. msurwl Says:

Did Florida get kicked out of the SEC? 🙂

  7. darkcooger Says:

Wow, what did Florida do to get the boot? 🙂

  8. carwwest Says:

they won too many NC recently…time to give someone else a shot….ha

  9. darkcooger Says:

Nah, I bet it was that recruiting violation that Kiffin pointed out!

  10. maroon1white Says:

Our non conference schedule just got tougher!

  11. JB Says:

I see “OLE MISS” in raised letters, does this mean defeat for State already?

  12. Brad Locke Says:

OK, now it’s all fixed. That’s what I get for copy-and-pasting from an e-mail without double-checking. Kinda figured the MSU folks would know who the other SEC teams were.

  13. darkcooger Says:

lol. C’mon Brad, you know nobody’s going to let a little slip like that go without saying something. 😉 We enjoy harassing you too much to let an opportunity like that go!

  14. mathistondawg Says:

Tough, tough schedule. Thinking 5-7 next year, which is a heckuva lot better than I have said in the last 6-8 years. It seems every other week we are going to get banged up.

  15. imabulldog Says:

I say 6 wins. Fo Sho’

  16. JB Says:

ima, ya thank so, iam with ya. 6 wins, but not a Reb one.

  17. sfwmdawg Says:

Com on JB, give us alittle break, we could push 7 if we can keep away from the bug!! the injury bug that is.

  18. imabulldog Says:

    How about those lady Dawgs!

  19. JB Says:

OK! sfwmdawg, out of the goodness of my heart I will give you 7.

  20. imabulldog Says:

JB, hope you have a good weekend man. You still living down in FL

  21. JB Says:

Yep! ima, still live in Okaloosa Co. Be pushing up daisys here one of these days. You have a good week-end,sfwmdawg, and the rest of the “Cow Belle’rs”.

  22. imabulldog Says:

You know it JB, hey you ever catch any okaloosa Walton baseball? My Juco school used to play them a lot. MCC out of Meridian

  23. JB Says:

ima, no. MCC was that once Miss East Central JC (Decatur)?

  24. imabulldog Says:

It’s close by, but about 25 minutes apart-if that. MCC, is known for their baseball, at least they were until the new administration back in like 2002 began limiting scholarships to in-state players only. When that happened, we lost some great soccer players as well. MCC soccer and baseball-were both always in the final 4 standing for the longest time, not to much anymore

  25. danisthemanmullen Says:

ima, i played at eccc in 04-05 and you are right the baseball at mcc went downhill quick. We never beat yall till my soph. year when we went to the super regionals.

  26. imabulldog Says:

All thanks to DR. Elliot, can’t believe he pulled the schollies like that

  27. danisthemanmullen Says:

ima when did you play at mcc?

  28. imabulldog Says:

Oh, i didn’t…sorry to mislead if I did. I just kept up with them growing up and thru my time there in college.

I shoulda played, batted over .400 my last yr of baseball, just was lazy, young, and dumb.

  29. danisthemanmullen Says:

i hear ya….if i could have done it over i would have just gone straight to state and skipped juco baseball….but in my mind i was going to be the next arod….haha

  30. imabulldog Says:

    LOL

  31. sfwmdawg Says:

JB you have a great weekend also. I have a cous, that lives outside of Tampa and he loves go to the spring training games down there. He has always told me that those games are better than most of the regular season games because of the kids trying to make it. I still think 7 is a possabilty, tough but attainable. Not to to unkind JB, I respect your Rebs when not play the Dawgs, but if we get our speed in the game, we could play alot havoc for them. Nothing can take back the thumping we took last year, but if this new class comes in and starts ,making some noise. Teams in the SEC are going to start cursing us again. Speed and size that could go down fiels and go up for a ball has beaten alot of the last 5 years. We addressed alot of that. It very well could be a very interesting time.

  32. sfwmdawg Says:

I hear ya Danis, I blew out my right knee in the spring of my junior year. I was a 5’11” 235lbs fullback with 4.5 to 4.6 speed in high school. Also played DT. During a sping scrimmage I had a 6’5″ 325 OT fall acroos my knee and popped in the wrong direction. That ended both careers. Nobody wants a catcher who has busted knees. I was a .450 hitter the last season I played.Back in those days coaches stopped coming around when they heard about knees.
