What Day Is it Again?

Is it still Monday? I’ve been awake basically since Sunday morning – a fitful rest of the plane didn’t help much – so it feels like it should be Tuesday. But no, we know it’s Monday because Mississippi State’s women, seeded 11th, haven’t yet played No. 3 seed Ohio State in the second round of the NCAA tournament. That’s coming up at about 6 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio (ESPN2). Here’s the preview.

We’ll know when Tuesday’s here, because that’s when the MSU football team opens up spring practices under new coach Dan Mullen. We’ll have more on that in Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s papers. Remember, practices are open to the public, which Mullen sees as an advantage to his team. “For our players, you put 3,000 people out there on the hill watching practice, that’s going to increase the intensity of the team drills.”

Speaking of hoops, Jarvis Varnado is a finalist for the Howell Tropy, while Lady Bulldog Alexis Rack is a finalist for the Gillom Trophy. Winners to be announced March 30.

And the Bulldog baseball team, which is 13-9 after being swept at Georgia, has a pair of midweek games at South Alabama (Tuesday) and versus Memphis (Wednesday). Then it’s off to Fayetteville for a three-game set with Arkansas.

I surprised myself because I actually logged on to the blog to get an update on the girl’s game. My wife is going to be so proud of me!

These refs are terrible. They have called a fould on us on damn near every possession.

  4. warbirdz44 Says:

Well, congrats to the refs for stealing MSU’s season. I have never seen more blatantly wrong calls and missed calls against one team in the last minute of a game in my life.

  5. bclark2202 Says:

you know the ref’s are bad when the announcers are talking about them blowing calls. I can’t understand why fanning wasn’t raising hell. Might as well get a technical, they were gonna give it to ohio state anyway.

  6. thingreenline Says:

I only got to see a little bit of the second half, and within only five minutes saw a few obvious OSU fouls missed. Glad I didn’t see the end.

  7. bigdraws Says:

Our kid got flattened on that pick. The ref had to be the only person in the building who didn’t see that.

Dress it up anyway you like it, the Lady Dawgs got hosed down the stretched…if i had been Coach Fanning i would been in the dressing room…that was ABSOLUTELY ridiculous…even the game announcers and the analysts in the ESPN studio agreed…just pitiful reffing – unless the outcome was their intended goal…UGH and DOUBLE UGH!!!!!!
